1 Golden Text Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Section :14 All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, im- 15 mortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but His 18 wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows :17 is that which is eternal and inca- 18 pable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance, as the Scriptures use this word in Spiritual Hebrews: The substance of things hoped synonyms 21 for, the evidence of things not seen. Spirit, the synonym of Mind, Soul, or God, is the only real substance. The spiritual universe, including individual man, is a com- 24 pound idea, reflecting the divine substance of Spirit :5 In divine Science, man is sustained by God, the divine 6 Principle of being. The earth, at God s command, brings forth food for man s use. Knowing this, Jesus Divine once said, Take no thought for your life, providence 9 what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, presuming not on the prerogative of his creator, but recognizing God, the Father and Mother of all, as able to feed and clothe 12 man as He doth the lilies The Christian Science Publishing Society. 3 4 264:13 As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were 15 invisible, will become visible. When we Selfcompleteness realize that Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-com- 18 pleteness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness. Section 2 Are we benefited by praying? Yes, the desire which goes forth hungering after righteous- 6 ness is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void :12 12 Spirit is the only substance, the invisible and indivisible infinite God. 4 7 325:32 A false sense of life, substance, and mind 1 hides the divine possibilities, and conceals scientific demonstration :19 24 The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and 21 destroying sin. Our Master said, If ye love me, keep my commandments. One s aim, a point beyond faith, should be to find the 24 footsteps of Truth, the way to health and holiness :12 12 Truth, Life, and Love are the only legitimate and eternal demands on man, and they are spiritual lawgivers, enforcing obedience through divine 15 statutes :5 14 You will learn 6 that in Christian Science the first duty is to obey God, to have one Mind, and to love another as yourself. 9 We all must learn that Life is God. Ask yourself: Am I living the life that approaches the supreme good? Am I demonstrating the healing power of Condition 12 Truth and Love? If so, then the way will of progress grow brighter unto the perfect day. Your fruits will prove what the understanding of God brings to man :16 If our hopes and affections are spiritual, they come from above, not from be- 18 neath, and they bear as of old the fruits of the Spirit. 9 Matthew 19:23 Section 3 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 10 Matthew 20: For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. 5 were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Section :23 Allness is the measure of the infinite, and 24 nothing less can express God :16 The erroneous belief that life, substance, and intelligence can be material ruptures the life and brotherhood 18 of man at the very outset. 14 2:23 (only, to?), Shall God is Love. Can we ask Him to be more? :6, To himself, mortal and material man seems to be substance, but his sense of substance involves error and therefore is material, 9 temporal. As God is substance and man is the divine image and 18 likeness, man should wish for, and in reality has, only the substance of good, the substance of Spirit, not matter. Inverted images and ideas :11 15 It is not well to imagine that Jesus demon- 12 strated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good. 15 The miracle of grace is no miracle to Love :29 Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, 30 health, holiness, love the kingdom of heaven reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear. 6 11 Isaiah 58:11 Section 4 11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. 12 Proverbs 8:1, 4 (to ;), 20, 21, 34, 35 1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? 4 Unto you, O men, I call; 20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: 21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. 13 Acts 3:1 8 1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God :4 5 Section 4 Spirit is the only substance and consciousness recognized by divine Science :27 versus supposition 27 Fixing your gaze on the realities supernal, you will rise to the spiritual consciousness of being, even as the bird which has burst from the egg and preens its wings for a 30 skyward flight :4 The substance, Life, intelligence, Truth, and Love, which constitute Deity, are reflected by His creation; 6 and when we subordinate the false testimony of the corporeal senses to the facts of Science, we shall see this true likeness and reflection everywhere The Christian Science Publishing Society. 7 21 162:16 22 Working out the rules of Science in practice, the author has re- 18 stored health in cases of both acute and chronic disease in their severest forms. Secretions have been changed, the structure has been renewed, shortened limbs have been 21 elongated, ankylosed joints have been made supple, and carious bones have been restored to healthy conditions :23 28 Christian Science de- 24 clares that Mind is substance, also that matter neither feels, suffers, nor enjoys. Hold these points strongly in view. Keep in mind the verity of being, that man is 27 the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent :10 16 Maintain the facts of Christian Science, that Spirit is God, and 12 therefore cannot be sick; that what is termed matter cannot be sick; that all causation is Mind, acting through spiritual law. 8 25 124:25 26 (to 1 st.) Section 5 Spirit is the life, substance, and continuity of all things :5 The only intelligence or substance of a thought, 6 a seed, or a flower is God, the creator of it. Mind is the Soul of all. Mind is Life, Truth, and Love which governs all :15 15 The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth 18 his brother s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another s good. Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through 21 all as the blossom shines through the bud. All the varied expressions of God reflect health, holiness, immortality infinite Life, Truth, and Love. Assistance in brotherhood :2 4, 13 15, 22 Life, Truth, and Love are the realities of divine 3 Science. They dawn in faith and glow full-orbed in spiritual understanding. Spiritual sense, contradicting the material senses, involves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, fruition, real- 15 ity.
