1 Cleansing Land 101 By rthur Burk Transcription of YouTube Video Posted on October 08, 2012 YouTube Video: Cleansing Land 101 It has come to my attention that there are many people who missed the brief flurry of attention on land back in the early nineties. Therefore it might be appropriate to reiterate some of the basic tools for cleansing land. This is not comprehensive. It s 101 and hopefully in the months to come I will address some of the more esoteric issues on land. Let s begin with two questions. Who? What? Who has the right to cleanse land and what constitutes defilement on the land? Let s start with the who. There is first of all, the simple principle of ownership, and ownership needs to be seen through three grids. One is long term, the second is temporary and the third is partial ownership. Let s use a simple illustration - long term. You buy a home even though all you really own is the hole in the front door that the bills come through. The bank owns the rest. till, we will pretend that you own it. Your name is on the title deed, and you have a legal right to cleanse the land that you own. There is a second category of land and that is temporary ownership. By that we are referring to renting. Whether you are renting a house or an apartment for six months or six years, or you are renting a motel room for a night, or you re renting an airplane seat for an hour, any place that you have paid for, that you have legal access to for a short period of time or a medium period of time, you have the right to cleanse in a deep way. The third area is partial ownership. By that I am referring to partnerships but more particularly to government land. 2 of Bakersfield put together a tremendous prayer thrust. They had one hundred sixty eight people, so one person prayed for an hour each day of the week around the clock. They prayed for Bakersfield, they prayed for Kern County and they saw results. It s a little bit of a redneck community. There was a certain level of violence there, shootings, murders, police shootings, whatever and for five months or so from the time they began praying there was, or at the time they completed one hundred sixty eight hours, there were no murders, no accidental deaths of any nature except for the two highways. Highway 99 runs north and south, Highway 58 runs east and west and they were having bizarre accidents; twenty-eight car pile ups with three people dead on those highways. They came to me and said, What s the deal? Why can we be so effective with this whole area and we are not effective here? The answer is, they were praying for Bakersfield the city and Kern County and those two highways are state highways. From that minor, little loophole, the enemy moved and even though the federal crime records don t show murders taking place in Bakersfield, it was the same death spirit that moved from bar room murders onto highway deaths. The same death spirit at work. I asked the people a rhetorical question, Do you pay taxes? Of course. Everybody paid more state taxes and federal taxes than they did city and county taxes. They immediately went back and amended all of the prayers that they had prayed in the previous five months to apply to city and county and state and federal because everything that is owned by the government, you are part owner of, and you have a significant level of authority to cleanse. o, there is one piece of definition of Land 101. The land you own, the land you rent whether long term or temporary and government agencies that you are part owner of. Now let s take it to the second side of the question then, What is defilement? Defilement comes basically in two packages. One is the stain of sin on the land; the other is demonic presence on the land. Let s go back to the story of Cain. Cain murdered bel. God came and said, Your brother s blood is crying out from the land. Wherever there has been iniquity, not just every trivial sin I don t think, but where there s been iniquity, you will find a long term imprint on the very land itself that is releasing a sound that is heard in the spiritual realm. Let me give you an illustration of what that looks like in real life. In one of my business classes I had a young man who did title searches. When a house was being sold, he would go back and look at the title for any number of sales back until he was sure that the title was good. 3 One house that he had just researched, the house was for sale because it had gone into foreclosure. It had gone into foreclosure because the couple had a divorce. The divorce went really nasty. The sale before that was a foreclosure because the couple went into divorce and the divorce was nasty, and the sale before that was a foreclosure because the couple had a divorce and the divorce turned nasty. He was astounded at how many generations, not generations of a lifetime, but how many iterations of owners experienced the same thing. imple statement, there was defilement in the house from the sins of somebody s divorce, maybe adultery involved, maybe other things involved, we don t know what, but a family with a descent marriage would move in and the defilement on the land would cause the marriage to blow apart, causing the hostility to increase so that the finances tanked and the bank took over the house. That is defilement on the land. ny iniquity is going to leave defilement on the land. occult worship or idolatry from the ancient cultures, covenants made, things of that nature, In a more extreme case, you are going to have the demonic presence on the land that is attached to the defilement on the land. If you re dealing with a place where there s been it is very likely that there is going to be a demonic presence there, not just defilement. I want to be extremely clear on one issue; demons are always secondary, always. The only reason a demon is there and has authority is because a human being did something. The issue is always sin. The issue is always human sin. Human sin in some form or another caused the defilement, allowed the demonic to attach to the demonic and caused the land to become less than it should be in some form or another. Who can do land cleansing and what land can you cleanse? nything that you own, that you rent, or that you are part owner of. What are you cleansing? You are cleansing land that has defilement from sin or defilement that has a demonic attachment. Now the last question in Land Cleansing How do you do it? In the simplest form, it is Revelation 12:11 They overcame him through the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony and because they did not love their lives, even to the point of death. You re coming from a position of stewardship. This is important, very, very important because most land cleansing or attempts at land cleansing is not done from a position of stewardship. Most people ignore the spiritual dynamics of the land until there s a problem. When they move into a new house and the kids can t sleep. 4 When they move into a new house and it s financially devouring. Then for self preservation they try to figure out what they got wrong, and they try to cleanse the land. That s not stewardship, that is pursuing your own peace and your own comfort. It s not wrong, but it significantly diminishes you from having authority. tewardship is understanding that the land that God has taken you to, if indeed God took you there and not your own selfish pursuits, this land that has the fingerprint of God on it and it is your job to not just cleanse the land but to help the land release the treasures that are in it. This is my number one complaint about the whole spiritual warfare land cleansing movement. It is so obsessed with defilement that it doesn t think in terms of the deposit of God. They re so focused on the demonic and the sin and the covenants and everything that s gone wrong, there s not a sense of stewardship to release the treasures in the land the way God intended them to be released. One final comment on stewardship, the very first command that God gave mankind was to fill the earth. The reason being that planet earth is deeply imbedded with gifts from God, but the treasures on the land need a human community to be able to be expressed. In these treasures in the land, God wanted people to go to walk in stewardship and to express the treasures that He had placed there into the culture around them. We begin with stewardship. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony and their stewardship lifestyle. They did not love their lives even to the point of death. o you commit to the land, commit to healing and nurturing it, you use the word of your testimony saying, Father I don t know who has walked here. I don t know what they did. It s been probably thousands of years of history here, but from the beginning of time to the present, from the time the first human being committed sin on this land, I ask you to open the books to identify every sin, rebellion and iniquity that s ever been committed on this piece of land and then to apply the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to those sins that they would be cleansed from off the land. Now in subsequent video clips we are going to talk about a whole lot of esoteric variations on the theme. It is very important that cleansing the land starts out simple with the fundamentals. If you own it, long term, short term, part ownership and you are coming at it from a stewardship point of view in covenant with God, you can deal with the sin on the land, the defilement left and you can also deal with the demonic. The demonic can be sent away when you deal with the sin. s long as the sin is still there, the demonic will typically stay and mock you. o that s foundational. That s simple, that s not complicated, and you need to wrap your mind around stewardship first, then whatever you can control, own, rent, you cleanse. 5 I have taught this so very, very many different ways, and it is such a mental block in most people s lives to history. I talk about the fact that people have been on the land for a thousand years, thousands of years and the need to ask God to open the books from the beginning of time and ninety-five percent of the time the response I get is, Well seventy-five years ago, something happened on the land. I m saying, Ok, but there s so much more than what you read about in the history books. You don t have to know every detail of every iniquity that s committed on the land. That s why I say, Father, from the time the first human being stepped foot on this land until the present, weight all of their words, actions and attitudes and anything that was sin, rebellion or iniquity, we bring under the blood of Jesus Christ.
