2 Happy Passover! Happy Easter Passover was from Sundown April 14 to Sundown April 15. Easter is this Sunday, April 20. Why don t they Match?

3 BUT FIRST, SOME ASTRONOMY In 325CE the Council of Nicaea established that Easter would be held on the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox. According to the Gregorian calendar, Easter falls on a Sunday between March 22 and April 25.f Easter is delayed by 1 week if the full moon is on Sunday. This is why Easter doesn t correspond with Passover.

4 EQUINOXES AND SOLSTICES. EQUINOXES On the two equinoxes every year the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal. The vernal equinox marks the first day of Spring. Occurs late March. The autumnal equinox marks the first day of Fall. Usually in September. SOLSTICES The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, Mid- Summer. It is in the last week of June. The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year, Mid- Wint

6 Why Our Plans and God s Plans Don t Match We think we know all God is doing. We think we understand how God works. We think God is limited by the things that limit us. We measure God by our experience, rather than by his Word. Because we are unable, we assume God is unable. We think we know ourselves better than God knows us

8 David Wants to Build a Temple (2 Sam. 7:1-3) " 1 After the king was settled in his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, 'Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.' 3 Nathan replied to the king, 'Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you.'" David Inquires of Nathan but Nathan doesn t inquire of the Lord before giving the goahead.

9 Life Principle # 1 Get Good Advice Proverbs 15:22: Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed Proverbs 20:18: Prepare plans by consultation,

10 Life Principle # 2 Don t be Hasty Proverbs 21:5: The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

11 Life Principle # 3 seek GoD s GuiDance Proverbs 16:3: Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established. Proverbs 19:21: Many plans are in a man s heart, But the counsel of the LORD will stand.

12 God s Plan for David Does Not include Building the Temple 2 SAMUEL 7:4-11 " That night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying: 5 'Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: "Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in?

13 Life Principle # 3 GoD s Plan is WHat Matters Proverbs 16:1: The plans of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. Proverbs 16:9: The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps

14 God's Plan for David: 2 SAMUEL 7: SAMUEL 7:8b-9. I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth." 7:10-11a. " 10 And I will provide a place for my people Israel 7:11b. "I will also give you rest from all your enemies. the LORD himself will establish a house for you." (7:11c) " 12 I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name." "... And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever." (7:13a) " 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever. (7:16)

15 Life Principle # 4 GoD s Plan For You is better than Yours Ephesians 2:20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 1 Corinthians 2:9 But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him

16 Life Principle # 5 GoD s Plan is really GooD! Romans 8:31-32 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

17 David Accepts God s Plan 2 SAMUEL 7:18-29 " 18b Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 19 And as if this were not enough in your sight, O Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant. Is this your usual way of dealing with man, O Sovereign LORD? 20 "What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Sovereign LORD. 21 For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant." (7:18b-21)

18 Life Principle # 6 GoD s Plan For You Will succeed!! Jude 1:24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,
