5 Warning: There will always be a tendency in Christendom to discount the supernatural regardless of the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead... I mean, think about it, RAISED FROM THE DEAD! OMG! The fact is that people have become desensitized to godliness, that true and vital spiritual relationship with both the Father and the Son and therefore, communication with the spirit world is more of an occult thing nowadays than something Christians do on a regular basis. (Major reasons: Manifestations stopped after the book of Acts (The gospel is the only power of God available to the churchman anymore), church on Sunday (We ve done our duty, let s go back to real living) and you can t learn anything new from the Bible (oh really?)) You can t know the players without a program in sports and it s the same in these sessions. The Bible will put you in touch with what is available in the spirit world and will give you some details with which you can better organize your life with them in mind. Your prayer life in particular.

6 Introduction We re not dealing with your mother s angels and demons this is what we were told In the beginning Lucifer, one of the top three (3) angels (archangels I was taught) in heaven (along with Michael and Gabriel), had a fight with God and was cast out of heaven and fell to the earth with a third of all the angels in heaven. He eventually became the serpent that we find in Genesis 3 and was the one that tempted Eve to eat the apple and eventually morphed into Satan (same guy we read about in Job who argues with God about making Job suffer and killing children). Ultimately this evil fallen angel tempts Jesus in the Gospels and Jesus responds and casts out many of the demons that Satan has in his army on earth. This spiritual entity is bothering Christians and non-christians alike even today as the Devil/ Satan. He is assisted by the aforementioned demons (usually this is equated with those third part of all the angels who fell initially) that possess people and cause aberrant behaviors such as those we saw in the movie The Exorcist.

9 Why all this flagrant perversion? A portion (only) of Raphael's Sistine Madonna (1512), but appears on greeting cards, coffee cups, wrapping paper, etc.

10 How can we fix this? Know thine ENEMY! What the hell is this? Medieval theology s spheres of angelic hierarchy (Cherubs, putti, angels, and cupids) Biblically it s sons of god, gods, angels, principalities, powers, mights, dominions, glories, cherubim (the real ones ), seraphim, and more. What s wrong with calling a spade a spade? Because the spiritual realm of the Bible is so otherworldly and downright scary for most people we (the Church) need to tone it down (think: sons of God in Genesis 6 were men). This (our ignorance of all things spiritual ; who they are, what they do and don t do, how we can tap in to the good stuff), is the reason we get our heads bashed in on a continual basis; why devils devastate individuals, families and countries.

11 So.A Brief history of Satan Not part of this teaching, but it didn t cost you anything The terms satan and devil, when used to designate God s Archenemy (as we know him in Christendom today), are not found in the Hebrew Scriptures (cf. - The satan is found in Numbers 22: 22, 32; 1 Samuel 29:4; 2 Samuel 19:23; 1 Kings 5:18; 1 Kings 11:14,23,25 1 Chr. 21:1; Job 1:6ff, 12; 2:1ff, 6f; Ps. 109:6; Zech. 3:1f and devil(s) (sometimes translated demons ) only in Lev. 17:7; Deut. 32:17; 2 Chr. 11:15; Ps. 106:37). At the time of the writing by the Hebrew prophets those terms did not mean what they mean to us today (i.e.- God s Evil Opponent: Satan - Matt. 4:10; 12:26; 16:23; Mk. 1:13; 3:23, 26; 4:15; 8:33; Lk. 4:8; 10:18; 11:18; 13:16; 22:3, 31; Jn. 13:27; Acts 5:3; 26:18; Rom. 16:20; 1 Co. 5:5; 7:5; 2 Co. 2:11; 11:14; 12:7; 1 Thess. 2:18; 2 Thess. 2:9; 1 Tim. 1:20; 5:15; Rev. 2:9, 13, 24; 3:9; 12:9; 20:2, 7). Christians know of the DEVIL/ SATAN (here capitalized as named entities) as the one who tempted the Messiah, the one whom Jesus foiled in so many ways (Colossians 2:15) and who oppresses Christians in any number of respects even today. Progressive Revelation is the key. Just as our picture of the Messiah grew as Scripture was written (over time), so the picture of Satan does. His real colors are eventually revealed.

18 Angels at his birth Were they singing.maybe Sweetly singing ore the plains? No, but look at EXACTLY what was said (Luke 2: 9-15) 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord (this is a DUDE! Just look him up ) came upon them (the shepherds), and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Most of us know why this is said when spiritual entities show up it s our first inclination along with falling prostrate to the ground. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host (This is an ARMY no really, the Hebrew expression Lord of Hosts ) praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

20 Assignment Look up angel of the Lord and tell me whether a fat, fleshy, pink creature with wings or someone to be shall we say reckoned with What do Biblical cherubs look like? Hint: the Hebrew means to bless, but they had flaming swords at the entrance/ exit to the Garden. And if you think it s physical (only) place well do some rethinking.

23 Jesus Baptism The Gospel writers (generally) quote what we know of as Isaiah 40:1-5. Most Christians think it was John who was making the highway straight for our God.not. A good key to research is to see what the original context is when someone is quoting Scripture, Isaiah 40:1-5 JV Isaiah 40:1 Comfort ye (plural), comfort ye (plural) my people, saith your God. 2 Speak (plural) ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry (plural) unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. 3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye (plural) the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. The point here is that those whom God is addressing are His council members; those heavy hitters who make up the heavenly host (army). It is they whom God encouraged to plow the road (so to speak) for the Messiah.

31 the day of vengence of our God Isaiah 27:1 In that day (what day?), the LORD will punish with his sword, his fierce, great and powerful sword, Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will slay the monster (dragon) that is in the sea. -

32 Getting out of Dodge Jesus leaves his home town of Nazareth. Jesus moves out of his mother s house and goes to Capernaum (lives by the sea of Galilee) Calls his friends as Disciples (getting serious here) Over the next stretch of time (June to September, 27 CE) Jesus has many, many incidents with these foul, unclean, deaf and dumb spirits. He heals, he does miracles,etc.; it s a year of awesome activity. Mark 1:16-28 and Luke 4:13-5:11

33 Demonization Casting out Devils (still don t like the term demons even though it s a transliteration of the Greek term). Call them what they are Devils. Don t call them devil spirits (a mistake we may have gotten into in the past). It s not a Biblical term! Unclean spirits is. Also, possessed by (or vexed with or hath ) a devil (KJVism) is demonized in the Greek. daimonizomai {dahee-mon-id'-zom-ahee} daimo,nizomai

34 List of Confrontations Scriptures in the Gospels where Jesus confronted spirits, evil spirits, unclean spirits, foul spirits, deaf and dumb spirits, devils or a devil. 1.
