1 DOCTRINE OF SATAN AND DEMONOLOGY The Scriptures teach the existence of Satan who is the originator of sin and the king over a host of fallen angels and spirits who carry out his work. Christ conquered Satan and the kingdom of darkness at Calvary and has commissioned the Church to deliver men from it and bring them into the kingdom of light. The ultimate judgement of Satan and his forces will be when they are cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity. Page 1 of 10

3 I. THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS A. Its Reality The Scripture clearly indicate that in the universe and more particularly surrounding this planet earth, there is the kingdom of darkness. It is the very antithesis of the kingdom of God, which is a kingdom of light. Satan is in control of this kingdom and under his authority there are numerous fallen angels and demon spirits. The following illustrates the contrast between Satan s kingdom and God s. 4 II. SATAN THE KING A. His Origin (Genesis 3:14-15; Matthew 16:23) (Ezekiel 28:1-9 and Isaiah 14:4-23) (Daniel 8:20-21; 10:10-13,20-21). (Ezekiel 28:1-19; Isaiah 14:4-23) DESCRIPTION OF SATAN 1. Satan is a real personality (Job 1:8; 2:1-2; Zechariah 3:1; II Corinthians 2:11; Matthew 4:6; Matthew 4:6; revelation 12:12; II Timothy 2:26; Matthew 25:41; Isaiah 14:12-13). 2. Satan is a spirit being. 3. He is created being, therefore dependent upon God for his very existence (Ezekiel 28:13,15). 4. He was called Lucifer, which means day star, son of the morning, or light bearer. (Isaiah 14:12 with II Corinthians 11:14). 5. He was an anointed cherub in the heavenly sanctuary, just as Old Testament prophets, priest and kings were anointed for office (Ezekiel 28:14,16,18). 6. He was covering Cherub placed by God to cover the throne. Compare with the Cherubim on the ark of the covenant in the Tabernacle of Moses, Covering the mercy seat (Exodus 37:9 and Ezekiel 28:14-16). 7. He was in Eden, the Garden of God (Ezekiel 28:13). 8. Satan has false apostles, prophets and teachers (II Corinthians 11:13-14; II Peter 2:1; Mark 13:22; Matthew 13:38). 13. Satan has a city, Mystery Babylon, to oppose the city of God, New Jerusalem (Revelation 17:5) Satan and his Demons seek to be worshipped (Leviticus 17:7; Deuteronomy 32:17; II Chronicles 11:15;; Psalm 106:37; I Corinthians 10:20; Revelation 9:20; Matthew 4:8-10). 16. Satan has his false Christ, the rival of God s Christ (I John 2:18-22). 17. Satan imitates the revelation of the Godhead in his Satanic three in Revelation 13: John 5: Satan s Mystery of Iniquity is the counterfeit of God s Mystery of Godliness (II Thessalonians 2:7 with I Timothy 3:16) 19. Satan wants to live in human bodies as temples for his demon spirits as God wants to live in human bodies by His Spirit. 20. In Scripture, they are called angels authorities, principalities, power rulers of darkness, wicked spirits, and demons (I Peter 3:22; Ephesians 6:12; 1:21; 3:10; Romans 8:38; Titus 3:1; Colossian 2:5,10; Daniel 10:20-21; Luke 22:53; Colossians 1:13). NOTE: Expositors are divided over the particular sin of the angels mentioned in Peter and Jude as well over the time when it took place. The two theories are as fallows. 1.
