7 The Exodus has puzzled believers and archaeologists for centuries. We believe it happened as the Bible says, but if it did, where is the evidence? 1. Make a list of all the events surrounding the Exodus 1. Joseph famine; consolidation of power and wealth to Egypt 2. Jacob growth of family into a foreign nation within Egypt 3. Rise of a huge workforce (Israelites) 4. Enslavement of Israelites AND a pharaoh who did not know Joseph (see point #1) 5. Wholesale destruction of Egypt through the plagues 6. Conquest of Canaan 2. With so many major historical markers, should we not expect to find a wealth of archaeological evidence? 7

18 It may puzzle us that so little information exists about so many extraordinary events. In reality, this is not uncommon for ancient history. 18

22 What does the history of Akhenaten prove? Ancient cultures were not opposed to literally rewriting history if they felt so inclined. Ask ourselves: In light of this one incident, is it likely the Egyptians would have preserved: The rise in power of a foreigner (Joseph) and his single handed salvation of the country? A successful revolt of their slaves? The undeniable power and authority of the one God of said slaves? The wholesale destruction of their economy, society, religion, and military? Not only is it possible they would have omitted or destroyed this information, there is precedent for it! 22
