1 Peter 3:4 I volunteer to read at the library at Emilee's and Caleb's school every other Tuesday. The kids are cute, funny, and keep me on my toes.

2 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God s sight. 1 Peter 3:4 I volunteer to read at the library at Emilee's and Caleb's school every other Tuesday. The kids are cute, funny, and keep me on my toes. Second and Third graders often say the funniest and unbeknownst to themselves the most insightful things. I often think to myself, "I should write that down", "Why didn't I think of that" and/or "I could definitely write a book with all these phrases." Recently I read a book by Karen Beaumont called, I Like Myself. I really liked it, one because it rhymed (which the kids know I love) and two I had on overwhelming feeling of wanting to think like that of me. Here's an excerpt: Inside, outside, upside, down, From head to toe and all around, I like it all. It all is me! And me is all I want to be. I like me wild. I like me tame I like me different And the same. I may be called a silly nut Or crazy cuckoo bird - so what? I'm having too much fun, you see, For anything to bother me! When I was done one of the students nonchalantly said, "Like how God feels about us, right?" What do you add to that? how about...amen!!! Brandy Stark W@C Coordinator 2013

3 I know you re all familiar with the 23 rd Psalm. Without much help, you could almost quote it from memory. But while you run through the six verses as quick as you can without taking a breath, stop at verse 5 and look at the last few words: Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. My cup overflows doesn t that say it all! David was trying to tell us that no matter where you are in life, no matter rich or poor, no matter if you have a pasture to lay down in or not, God takes care of us. I used that exact phrase the other day when I was talking to a friend of mine at work. I told him that my cup was overflowing; meaning that I had so many things to be thankful for, the list was so long, that I dare not utter a complaining word. A marriage of 41 years, adult children & spouses faithful to God, grandchildren attending Christian schools, good job, good friends the list is long. But wait! It s easy to offer words of praise when things appear to be going well. When times are good, oh yeah, that cup is full to the brim and over-flowing. It s in the dark times that our faith is tested. Our positive attitude may be a little harder to put on in the morning. Your teenager comes home with an F in History, your car had a dead battery this morning, your elderly dad is having heart problems, a loved one has passed away. From serious to minor, life puts leaks and holes in our over-flowing cup. My prayer is that we adopt the attitude of Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego in Daniel, Chapter 3. You remember right before they were thrown into the fiery furnace, they boldly spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar and said If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and He will deliver us from Your Majesty s hand. But even if He does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods In other words, when life s over-flowing cup springs a leak and we re down to our last drop, we have to completely accept, understand and rely on the fact that God loves us and He will deliver us. The delivery may not happen how you envisioned it or when you envisioned it, but it will happen! You can count on it! He sent His Son to seal the deal! Submitted by, Alan Stark, Elder
