2 The Wouldn t Bend! They Wouldn t Bow! They Wouldn t Burn! Here is a story from the Good Book we know A story about a miracle that happened long ago We hope that you take courage when temptation you meet There s someone watching you who is strong when your weak P1 From last week we remember the 3 Hebrew boys telling Nebby. Dan 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. P2 Then we read about how mad Nebby got! Dan 3:19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. P3 Nebby in his mad emotional state has the boys thrown into the fiery furnace. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. P4 Dan 3:24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, amazed and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. Nebby runs to his counsellors! Why? Because he cannot believe his eyes! The fire must have cooled down enough for Nebby to look into the furnace and when he did HE WAS SHOCKED!!! P5 Dan 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. They are loose! The fire burned Nebby s ropes but not the boys! They are walking around! They are not cinders!! They are not hurt! The fire has no power over them! And what else does Nebby see? A FOURTH person who looks like the Son of God! Oops! Nebby may have made a mistake here!! P6 They wouldn't bend, They held on to the will of God so we are told! They wouldn't bow, They would not bow their knees to Idols made of gold! They wouldn't burn, They were protected by the Fourth Man in the fire! They wouldn't bend, They wouldn't bow, they wouldn't burn!

3 P7 Dan 3:26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, now cooled down and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, Nebby is starting to think again come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach Hananiah, Meshach Mishael, and Abednego Azariah, came forth of the midst middle of the fire. P8 Dan 3:27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Does fire have power over you and me? Yes! Have you ever had your hair singed? I have! Ever have fire burn your clothes? Ever smell like a fire just from being around it? Nebby s fire had no power at all over the Son of God nor those under his protection. By the way who did not come out to meet the king? P9 Dan 3:28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach Hananiah, Meshach Mishael, and Abednego Azariah, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded protected their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. P10 Dan 3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. P11 Dan 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon. More next week! Think! 1. In this miracle God changed the law of physics.
