The $2,500 vpk voucher will be credited to your Pre-K tuition. You can apply at Please call Beth Breier after January 2nd if you would like help applying. Step Up For Students Step Up for Students has opened the window for renewal families. This is known as a soft launch where only a few thousand will be able to apply now. Please start your applications right away as there have been several families that were wait listed this past year and have still not been awarded a scholarship. If you need any sort of assistance with this process, please contact Mrs. Breier at the school office.

3 PAGE 3 THE Y.E.S. PRESS Third Grade Erupts Into Learning Mrs. Janowski s Third Graders had great fun learning all about volcanoes. The students studied all about the causes and effects of a volcanic eruption. The girls enjoyed creating their own model volcanoes, and causing them to erupt. They had a terrific time! Fifth Grade Asiri Club Kiddush The Talmidim of Rabbi Volk s Fifth Grade completed the sixth Perek of Mishnayos Berachos recently, and celebrated this week with the Asiri Club Kiddush, honoring those boys who learned each Mishna in the Perek a minimum of ten times. Congratulations to Dovid Goldner, Shiloh Adivi, Yosef Matz, Yitzy Sharbani, Uriel Hen, Aviod Zmiri, Chaim Victor, and Uril Wechsler. Third Grade Puts On Their Learning Caps Every Sunday, Rabbi Rizel s Third Graders participate in a special Chazara Program. As they review Chumash, they put a bottle cap in a large bottle for each Pasuk they review. As they make their way to the top of the bottle, the boys can earn prizes. So far this year, they ve reviewed the entire Parashas Chayei Sara (which they mastered in Second Grade!) and have already begun reviewing Parashas Toldos. In other news, the students collection of Flash Cards has already reached 100, and is well on the way to 200! First Grade Students Rooted In Learning Mrs. Zweig s First Graders are digging deep into their plants unit! The girls interested was sparked when they walked into the classroom at the beginning of the week! Colorful pictures of plants and gardens were hung up all over the classroom, our word wall had over 20 new plants words with pictures, and the library was jam packed with never before seen plant books! Even the Smiley face on our scoreboard was plant-themed! There were books about all kinds of plants, all about roots, the journey of a leaf, and different kinds of seeds! Students were able to touch and feel different types of seeds at the science center! Then, the students created beautiful artwork displaying the parts of a plant and the three things plants need to live! After learning facts about plants the first graders solidified their knowledge by writing informational pieces about plants. Just like our plants, our district graders are GROWING and BLOSSOMING!

4 PAGE 4 THE Y.E.S. PRESS Knowing that his friend had a preference for certain colors, Yosef Meir Medresh offered the other boy the first choice of learning manipulative. His consideration was mirrored back at him when Nachman Glucksman offered Yosef Meir the one he liked best! What beautiful Middos! Health notice For the health of our student body, any students who are under the weather, or carrying a virus or bacterial infection should not come to school, but should stay home to rest. Hopefully in this way we can limit the duration of the current bout of maladies in circulation.

Card games such as Uno, Top Trumps, etc. can be permitted, within the spirit of a Makom Torah.
