2 President s Corner Joseph Cuccio May 2017 The Heather Page 3 I am sure by now most of you have seen the new sign at our entrance. This is a work in progress, as we have to finish the columns and put some decorative pavers around the sign, while moving some of the plants to other areas. I really want to thank the committee for their efforts in making this happen. It was a long process as we did not want to exceed the budget and yet we wanted something to reflect a different view of our community. I truly believe we have succeeded in doing that and I look forward to seeing the finished product.. We have many new residents in our community and we want to welcome them to one of the better places to live in Hernando County. Our Gatehouse, Crime Watch and the extra Sheriff Patrols help make our Community one of the safest along with the residents who help out by watching and reporting anything suspicious they see. This is a team effort and it is working. I want to remind all that we have a Memorial Day Picnic planned and tickets are on sale at the HPOA office. If you wish to attend please contact Vickie in the office. Another reminder is our every Wednesday Bingo Games that is provided by volunteers and everyone in the community is welcome to attend. If you have the time stop in and enjoy the fun. I want to mention our Office Administrator Vickie who works very hard to keep the Board informed and service the community. We have had several individuals lately that have been verbally abusive to her when she has been trying to assist them with their problems or concerns. Vickie is not the final say in any matter but she is in contact with the Board Members on a daily basis. If you have a complaint please address it to one of the 5 Board Members or respectfully advise Vickie of your concern so she may direct it to the proper Board Member. If you think shouting or verbal abuse is going to work for you let me be the first to tell you it will not and I for one will not tolerate this kind of behavior. When you are told that a certain problem cannot be fixed by the HPOA and given the proper number to call and choose not to then it becomes your problem. We are installing all LED lighting in the community center as well as outside to eliminate the constant cost of maintaining the old style lights. The new lights use less electric while providing twice the amount of light. In addition they last way longer then conventional bulbs which means less man hours spent on this task. They should be completed before this goes to print. We had another successful Name That Tune with close to 100 people in attendance. This is truly a fun event and we are planning another for December 1st 2017 so watch for the announcement The website continues to get over 1200 hits per month and it is an easy way to stay in touch when you are home or away. Another good reminder is about our monthly Board Meeting on the 3rd Monday of every month. Stop in and meet the new Board, which is the same as the old Board, so you can accomplish 2 things at once. We promise to get you out in time for Dancing with the Stars.
3 Page 4 The Heather May 2017 By Barbara Dohm I hope you all have seen our new sign, I think it's outstanding. Such class "Love the Bird" (smile.) Everything is coming together here in the Heather; Heather Walk is almost complete with their sinkhole projects, building waiting for OK from County, plants and grass going in, window treatment going in soon, screened patio also going in with new fobs locks for our fence. Hopefully no nonmembers will be coming to our heated pool and doing any more damage, as we will know who used the pool last and our new cameras will also help. Our roads have a new surface as more people are out riding bikes on the smooth surface. Pretty soon we will be all finished with our entire project and we will be brand new. WANTED BINGO PLAYERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN US... AND ARE RESIDENTS OF THE HEATHER. WE GET TOGETH- ER ON WEDNESDAYS AT 2 P.M. AT THE HEATHER P.O.A. COMMUNITY CENTER. SO, IF YOU LIKE TO MEET NEW PEOPLE, RELAX AND HAVE FUN WE WEL- COME YOU. IF YOU BRING A FRIEND YOU WILL GET A FREE GIFT. AND, WE NOW HAVE A NEW SPECIAL GAME OF PROGRESSIVE BINGO AIMING AT A BIG PAY- OFF. 6 for Your Information: Heather Walk By Barbara Dohm At our last meeting we talked about parking on the street. I believe NO one reads his or her documents. Why do I say this??? Because people park over night on the streets. This is not allowed after 12 midnight. Just because these are private roads does not mean one can do what he wants to. This is one reason we live in a deed-restricted community. Another point, and I have done this myself, but I will no longer do it. Parking on the wrong side of the street. We are asking you to please park on the correct side of the street when visiting some one, or when parking your own car. Lochness is a fine example of what not to do as the garbage men can not get through. What about an ambulance or a fire truck? If one cannot use their garage because it's full, try to get your car in the driveway. We thank you very much for your help in this matter. Let s see how many of you help the neighborhood out.
