2 ,utcv, ufurc General Index Phone Numbers General Workshop Information Wednesday Thursday Friday Friday Evening Shabbos Day Motzei Shabbos Sunday Gala Banquet Vaad Hakinus Classic Guest Program In-Depth Guest Program Post Seminary Program Maps of Oholei Torah Map of Jewish Children s Museum Map of the Brooklyn Marriott The 19th yahrzeit of the passing of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka vwg, is a milestone year for the Kinus. In terms of content and numbers, the Kinus HaShluchos has grown remarkably, and is in itself evidence of a phenomenon that is real and exciting, but defies easy explaination. With each successive year, Merkos L Inyonei Chinuch, host of the Kinus, has had the privilege of witnessing the enthusiasm and participation in the Kinus growth. In response, Merkos has invested ever greater resources and attention to make the Kinus a rewarding event for participating Shluchos. Specifically, the Kinus is a forum for introducing new ideas and for seeking creative solutions to various challenges and conundrums that arise in the life of Shlichus. Towards this end, the program is packed with presentations covering the entire gamut of Shlichus activities. No less important, however, is the experience of spiritual growth and deepened hiskashrus with the Rebbe that the Kinus hopes to advance. The camaraderie among Shluchos, the experience of sjh od ohjt,ca, have proven to be a tremendous bolstering and enriching benefit of the Kinus. It is our hope that each of you will leave this year s Kinus nurtured and fortified in both practical and spiritual terms, giving you the sustenance to grow and succeed in your respective Shlichus. Many thanks to the Vaad HaKinus and to the Shluchos who participated in developing this year s Kinus program. They have devoted long hours and much detailed attention to make this a memorable Kinus. Hanholas Kinus HaShluchos

3 Welcome Welcome The Program Guide This program booklet also includes the Guest and Post-Seminary conferences' schedules, following the main shluchos program. All sessions and meals must begin and end on time; please be punctual. All sessions will be held at Oholei Torah, located at 667 Eastern Parkway (a block away from 770), and at the Jewish Children s Museum (Kingston Avenue corner of Eastern Parkway). The Gala Banquet will be held at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, located at 333 Adams Street in downtown Brooklyn. Simultaneous translation into Hebrew will be available at all general sessions as well as the Banquet; radios will be available in the lobby of Oholei Torah before each session. Due to the ever-increasing number of shluchos attending, we ask for your cooperation; please check your coats at the coatroom on the lower level, which will be staffed during all hours of the Kinus. As a courtesy to your fellow shluchos, please set your cell phones on vibrate throughout the general program and workshop sessions. All shluchos will receive an official ID card upon registration, plus a special bracelet. You will need to display your ID to gain admittance to all sessions and meals. The bracelet needs to be worn to gain access to the banquet. Please wear your ID card throughout the entire Kinus (except Shabbos) as a way of introduction to your fellow shluchos. A private nursing station will be available at all times during the Kinus in the womens' lounge on the lower level. Beginning Thursday evening through Sunday there will once again be an information/welcome booth in the lobby. Round trip transportation from central Crown Heights locations will be provided for the banquet. Please see page 35 for details. The Babysitting service will be in the large ballroom on the 2nd floor. This will enable us to properly care for your children in the best facilities. Babysitting will be available for pre-registered nursing babies only during the hours of the Kinus. Please remember that your baby may be unaccustomed to his/her new surroundings and, as a result, the babysitter may need your attention at any time during the day. Please bring along any supplies (diapers, bottles, toys, etc.) that your baby might require. For older children, please inquire about other options at the babysitting registration area. The elevator will be staffed during the Kinus. Please enter through the school entrance door on the street level and take the elevator to the babysitting area on the 2nd floor. The beautiful centerpieces that adorn your tables during the Kinus will be available for sale on a first come first serve basis for $36 each plus $10 shipping in the US only. Place your order at the registration tables in the Oholei Torah lobby. Our special thanks and sincere appreciation to the Vaad of Shluchos coordinating all aspects of the Kinus, together with the New York based committees. Their names appear at the end of this booklet.
