Tova Mirvis is the author of the memoir The Book of Separation (2017) as well as three novels, Visible City, The Outside World and The Ladies Auxiliary, which was a national bestseller. Her essays have appeared in various newspapers including The New York Times Book Review, The Boston Globe Magazine, and Poets and Writers, and her fiction has been broadcast on National Public Radio. Abigail Pogrebin is the author of the My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wondering Jew (2017) a much expanded chronicle of her popular column for the Forward, for which she spent 12 months researching and observing every holiday in the Jewish calendar.

A NIGHT OF JEWISH HUMOR With Alan Zweibel From selling jokes in the Catskills to writing for Saturday Night Live and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Alan Zweibel has had a momentous career as a comedy writer. Tonight, he shares stories about his career, his comedic influences, growing up with Rob and Laura Petrie and sitting under the Weekend Update desk grinding out jokes while the segment was on air. Zweibel is co-author of For This We Left Egypt? A Passover Haggadah for Jews and Those Who Love Them (2017). It is a parody of the Haggadah that takes you through every step of the Seder, from getting rid of all the chametz in your house by setting it on fire with a standard blowtorch (preferably outdoors), to breaking the middle matzah that is, if you can find a piece that isn t already broken, to a hilariously absurd retelling of the Passover story featuring a burning bush that sounds kind of like Morgan Freeman.
