1 MAN s Responsibility As Husband and Father The Holy Bible gives clear testimony of how mankind came into being. Man did not evolve. The LORD God made man... in the likeness... or resemblance... of Himself: Gen 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (God called their name Adam - Gen 5:1-2) 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. The Holy Bible records specific information how God created man. He shaped him out of dirt... put His own breath into his nose... and man became a soul alive: Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. God made a woman... from a rib out of a man... and designed for one man and one woman to become husband and wife... not two men... not two women:

2 Page 2 Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Notice again, it is a man (singular... not men plural) and his wife (singular... not wives plural). Jesus also repeated this teaching, as God s original purpose... one male and one female... joined in marriage as one flesh: Mark 10:6-9 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (also Matt 19:3-6) A man is to rule over his own wife: Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. The course of this world (Eph 2:2-3) is opposite the Bible. Our society is worsening... as it ignores God s laws: Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

3 Page 3 Wedlock is the state of being married, when you have made a pledge that locks you into a partnership, a jointrelationship of martrimony until death do you part. It symbolizes the union between Jesus Christ and the saints. God s word instructs a man how to treat his wife. He is to love and protect her, and guard her with his very own life. The Bible teaches that the husband is leader over the wife: Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Eph 5:25-33 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

4 Page 4 Men are not to be angry or indignant toward their wives: Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Nowdays, with all the texting and abbreviation going on... if a man won t refrain from what-is-known-as PDA (that s Public Display of Affection - or even Private as the Bible teaches)... he ought to find himself a wife instead: 1 Cor 7:1-2 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. The honorable thing for anyone with strong desire to do is to get married... rather than sin by fornication: 1 Cor 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. There will be consequence for disobeying God s command: Heb 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. God gave instruction for a married man, and for a divorced man. Baggage comes with marriage to a divorced person:

5 Page 5 1 Cor 7:27-28 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. A single man has more time to devote himself to God. A married man needs to be attentive to his wife: 1 Cor 7:32-33 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: 33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. A man should value and respect his wife as precious. She is not as strong as he is. As husband and wife, they are joined with each other for life in God s grace: 1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. When men age and become seniors, their grand-children show their honor... likewise, the children, their dads: Prov 17:6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

6 Page 6 Realizing the dignity and importance of being a dad, men should not aggravate their children to anger. They ought to raise them in the instruction and warning of God, teaching them the fear of the Lord (Psa 34:11), which is the beginning of wisdom (Psa 111:10) and knowledge (Prov 1:7) Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Col 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Fathers are supposed to instruct their children in the right way. Correction can involve scolding, rebuke, chastening, discipline, punishment, and restraint from evil: Prov 29:17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. An earthly father who supplies food for his children teaches them to ask their Heavenly Father to provide His Spirit: Luke 11:11-13 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

7 Page 7 (Luke 11:) 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? For their children to please the Lord, fathers need... to pity (have mercy, compassion, tender affection, love) to exhort (strongly urge by advice, beseech, ask earnestly) to comfort (console, encourage) to charge (implore to be a witness, testify): Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 1 Thess 2:11-12 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. God s word explains how a man should behave in the home... toward his wife, and toward his children... and when he grows older: Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
