Dear Friend, We are so glad you have decided to participate in an extended time of prayer, fasting, and personal devotion. There really is no better way to reset our spiritual compass and bring about refreshing in every area of our lives than through prayer and fasting. This 21 Days of the Best Days of Your Life prayer and fasting plan was intentionally designed to be flexible so that you can participate at any level. Get Ready to Experience 21 Exciting Days, whether you have done a twenty-one day season of prayer and fasting before, or if this is your first time, you can start where you are and experience what God has in store for you in a powerful way. The tools provided in this guide are a practical way to help you transform your life through your twenty-one day journey. As you read over the information, please consider how it applies to you and your personal circumstances and convictions. Together we will seek the Lord's advice for devotion, direction, and provision. We pray that you will experience the presence and power of God in an extraordinary way as you commit yourself to Him over the next twenty-one days. May God continue to bless you and encourage you as you seek Him first! Blessings, Bishop Kevin Lydell Smith 2

FASTING FOCUS 1 2 FAST Commit to the Daniel Fast or to another type of fast for 21 Days. Choose something to fast that will stretch you and allow you to grow for 21 days. READ Read the "21 Day Fast" Reading Plan for 21 days; one entry a day. You can also start where you are at and increase your reading. 3 PRAY Spend extra time with God in prayer. Commit to seeking God in prayer for 21 days. Prayer services will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 12noon in the sanctuary during the time of the fast. We have created Groups/Waves with Leaders for this Fast. The leaders will get with their Group/ Wave members to orchestrate a time to pray. We have made it available for everyone to pray at least twice a week at church, at least one of those time will be with Bishop Smith (leaders must be present at the prayer with Bishop). We invite everyone to join us on this spiritual journey

PRAYER As you prepare for the next twenty-one days, it can be tempting to start thinking of a laundry list of prayers you'd love to see answered. But we really want to encourage you to keep this simple. Think about what is your goal for fasting? It should be something you have a strong passion for. Think of the top two or three things most pressing on your heart and focus in on those with God. Write these down in the space provided to the right, and be open to hearing what God wants to show you in those areas. The breakthroughs, miracles, and answers to your prayers will be by-products of drawing closer to Jesus. When praying, make your primary goal to know Jesus more and experience Him. Pray prayers of total surrender and aim to glorify God with your life. Focus first on what's right about Him, such as His goodness and His greatness, and see everything else through that filter. Most simply, make time to pray daily. Don't over complicate this! Just talk to God. Have a place and time where you can seek Him every day. If you don't plan to pray, you won't. If you find it a challenge to disconnect from the busyness of your day, engaging in worship music is a great way to prepare your heart for prayer. DURING THIS FAST I AM PRAYING & BELIEVING GOD FOR: A n A n a l y s i s o f S o c i a l M e d i a C a m p a i g n J a n - M a r c h

5 FASTING STARTS WHERE YOU ARE We are all at different places in our walk with God. Likewise our jobs, daily schedules, and health conditions are all different and place various levels of demands on our energy. So most importantly, whether you've fasted before or this is your first time, start where you are. Your personal fast should present a level of challenge to it, but it's very important to know your own body, know your options and, most importantly, seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. Remember, the goal of fasting is not just to do without food. The goal is to draw nearer to God Important Note: Fasting requires reasonable precautions. If you have any health concerns, please consult your physician prior to beginning your fast, especially If you are taking any medication, have a chronic condition, or are pregnant or nursing a baby. As you prepare to fast, it is important to choose a fasting plan that works for you. While this section provides some general information about different types of fasts, as well as some suggestions on how to create your own fasting plan, it is important to mention that there is nothing more inherently spiritual about one type of fast as opposed to another. These are simply guidelines and suggestions on different things you can do. Do not let what you eat or do not eat become the focus of your fast. Keep the main thing the main thing, which is drawing closer to God. Remember, this is a time to disconnect enough from your regular patterns and habits in order to connect more closely with God. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before getting started.

6 FIND YOUR FAST ZONE When most people start fasting, there is typically some level of discomfort. However, it is possible to get used to the fasting routine pretty quickly. Quite simply, you must learn to fast in a way that works for you. While any true fast does involve abstinence from food or at least certain types of food, typically, different fasting combinations work better for many people. The goal to having a succesful fast is all about finding what we like to call your Fast Zone, and that is different for everybody and can change depending on the season you are in. The best way to describe your Fast Zone is that it's the place where you feel light and spiritually in tune. Your mind is easily focused on God and spiritual things. You have an increased spiritual energy-you can feel the fast working. Just like runners know what their target heart rate is to see the benefits of their physical training, the Fast Zone is similar in a spiritual sense. Finding your Fast Zone helps you choose both the type and length of fast. Let's say you choose to go on a Daniel fast (only fruits and vegetables). Should you eat beans? If you can eat beans and stay in your Fast Zone, go ahead. But for some people, eating beans takes them out of the zone. Simplify the fast as no meats, no breads and no desserts (sugar). Should you completely cut out caffeine? It depends. The great thing is, your body automatically craves less caffeine. It would be best to only drink water during the fast. If needed, maybe a detox tea, or decaffeinated green tea.

7 PREPARING FOR YOUR FAST While preparing for your fast, it is important to choose ahead of time what type of fast, or what combination, you will pursue. Not only will this help with making necessary preparations to implement your plan, but as you commit to a specific fast ahead of time and know how you're going to do it, you will position yourself to finish strong. On the following pages, we've listed some options and variations of fasts you can choose from. As you read over the information, please consider how it may or may not apply to your personal circumstances and convictions. You may choose to fast all twenty-one days. Or you may choose to fast several days out of the twenty-one days, such as three or four days a week throughout the twenty-one day period. Maybe you will do that and do three to seven consecutive days at the end. This is your personal decision and should be prayerfully considered as it applies to your circumstances.

8 DANIEL FAST The Daniel fast is a great model to follow and one that is extremely effective for spiritual focus, bodily discipline, and purification of the body and soul. It is probably one of the most commonly referred-to fasts; however, within the Daniel Fast, there is room for broad interpretation. In the book of Daniel, we find two different times where the prophet Daniel fasted. Daniel 1 states that he only ate vegetables and water. In Daniel 10, while the passage does not give a specific list of foods that Daniel ate, it does state that he ate no rich (or "choice") foods, as well as no meat or wine. So based on these two verses, we can see that either of these, or combinations of the two, constitute a Daniel fast. Again, it's important to mention that there is nothing inherently spiritual about one type of fast as opposed to another. The foundation of the Daniel fast is fruits and vegetables. Some starchy vegetables and dairy could be included, but that depends on the individual. Your goal should be to seek God in prayer about this and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. Just remember: find your personal Fast during this time.

9 FASTING AND EATING DISORDERS If you have struggled with an eating disorder, this situation is a battle of the mind you can win through Christ (Philippians 4:13). Remember, fasting is a tool used to get closer to God, and it actually should keep us from being preoccupied with food. If your method of fasting is going to cause you to obsess about what you eat in any way, you will need to change either your approach or your mindset. If giving up food is a stumbling block to you, then consider fasting television, reading (other than the Bible, of course), social media, or shopping. There are many distractions and ways that we use to stay in control that we could eliminate from our daily routine. We do these things to distract ourselves from the real issues hurting us. If you can identify such other things, maybe you can give those up instead of food. Remember, you are covered by God's grace. God will show you what to do. His "yoke is easy" and His "burden is light" (Matthew 11:30). His way will bring rest to your soul. FASTING WHILE NURSING OR PREGNANT Strict fasting while pregnant or nursing is also not recommended. If you are in this incredible season of life but would like to participate in the twenty-one day plan, here are some great options for you to consider with the approval of your physician: a modified Daniel Fast including whole grains, legumes, whey protein, calcium, and iron supplements fasting sweets and desserts fasting red meat fasting certain diversions (television shows, movies & social media) of three, constitute a Daniel fast. If you are a pregnant or nursing mother, your priority is the health and the development of the baby God has entrusted to you. Make that your guideline and go from there. And please consult your doctor.

10 BEGIN AND BREAK THE FAST WELL Depending on the type of fast you choose, it is very important to prepare your body before beginning the fast. Take a week or so to transition into your fast; otherwise, you could get sick. For example, if you would like to go on a fruits and vegetables or juice fast, start eliminating meat, whole grains, and refined sugars from your diet the week before. Also start to cut back quite a bit on dairy products and some of your caffeine intake. The same principle applies to breaking your fast. When your fast is over, add foods back in very gradually. Please don't break your fast with a greasy cheeseburger! Because your body is so cleansed and detoxified, you will most likely get sick if you do that. There are also several supplements you can take that will help support the detox process during your fast. Your healthfood store can give you recommendations.

CREATING YOUR PERSONAL FASTING MENU 11 On the following pages, we will share a few simple menu options for your use. Your plan could Include one of these menu ideas or even a variation of all of them. You could even mix it up, doing something different food-wise on the weekends or on certain days of the week. Again pray about this and find what works for you. To keep your energy up throughout the day, it's important to eat or drink every two and a half to three hours. If you go longer than that, you can experience an energy lull and be tempted to overstuff yourself at your next meal. Even If you're fasting on fruits and vegetables, overstuffing Is never a smart thing to do. Help support the detox process during your fast. Your health-food store can give you recommendations. It is very Important to drink lots of water while fasting. Drinking about one hundred ounces of water per day wlll help to support your critical liver function. The liver Is the filter of the body, so when you don't drink enough water, the liver doesn't function at its highest capacity. Select your food Items wisely. We will not be listing specific Ingredients you "should" or "should not" Include in your plan. The key Is to prepare a plan ahead of the fast, to not get legalistic about It, and choose menu items well. For example, if you prefer dressing on your salads, choose a healthy, organic option with natural Ingredients-and don't pour a gallon of It on your plate. If you're drinking fruit Juices, try to go as natural as posslble, and don't drink ones heavily processed and laden with sugar. Remember to not let food become the focus of your fast, but make wise eating choices.

12 FINAL FASTING TIPS Here are some other ideas that can help make your fasting experience more pleasant and helpful: Create a fasting calendar that fits your plan. Determine what each day and week will look like. Keep your fridge and pantry stocked with the items you need. Being unprepared to fast sets you up to give into temptation. Choose well when selecting products, vegetables: cooked or raw, fruit, and nuts, and limit artificial ingredients. Make it a priority to attend church during your twenty-one day fast. Being around other believers will encourage you to keep on going when fasting gets difficult. If you mess up, don't get discouraged. Just get right back on track and keep going. God's mercies "are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23). He wants you to finish, and He will give you the grace and strength to do it. GOD BE WITH YOU AS YOU BEGIN YOUR SPIRITUAL AWAKENING!

PERSONAL DEVOTION Just like prayer and fasting, reading your Bible is about connecting to God in a more powerful way. It is not about duty, but about relationship. When we engage God through reading His Word, we engage the very presence of God. His Word is living and active! As we read our Bible, we are drawing closer to God and positioning ourselves to hear from Him in particular ways. Once again, as with prayer, choose the time and the place where you are going to read your Bible and devotional every single day, and come prepared to hear what He wants to tell you. Here are three quick things we'd like to share with you about how to get the most out of your devotional time with God. READ CONSISTENTLY 1 It is better to read a little every day than to try and knock out two hours of Bible reading or devotions in one sitting. Don't bite off more than you can chew, and certainly don't compare your "performance" with that of others. If you miss a few days, pick up at the next reading, but stay with it and don't give up. The key is to keep this simple and make it sustainable. READ PRAYERFULLY Talk to God as you're reading. Don't rush 2 through. If you come across something you don't understand, pause for a moment and ask God about it. Reading prayerfully is making space and time to talk to God and God's Word is just as important as reading it

READ EXPECTANTLY 3 You are about to partake of the Bread of Life, so foster an attitude of expectancy. Believe that God is going to speak to you through His Word. With meditation on the ideas and thoughts recorded in your journal, be prepared to do something with what He shows you. A great, simple way to journal your devotionals is to use the SOAP method. S.O.A.P METHOD SCRIPTURE - OBSERVATION - APPLICATION - PRAYER The SOAP method is used like this: S for Scripture. Read prayerfully. Take notice of which scripture(s) catches your attention and mark it in your Bible. When you're done, reread the verse(s) you marked and look for one that particularly speaks to you. Write it in your journal. O for Observation. Focusing on that scripture, tune in and listen to what God is saying to you through His Word. What is it about this scripture that specifically stands out? What does God want to reveal to you or teach you? Ask the Holy Spirit to be your guide and show you what God is saying. A for Appllcatlon. Think of how this verse(s) applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or correction for a particular area of your life. Use your journal to write how this scripture applies to you today. P for Prayer. Wrap up your SOAP time in prayer. Talk to God about what you've just read. This can be as simple as thanking Him for revealing a truth from the scripture, or it may be asking Him for greater insight or wisdom as to how it applies to your life. Remember, prayer is all about relationship. It's a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say

DAY READDNG PLAN This reading plan includes several passages about fasting and others that encourage reflection and closeness to God. For 21 days, you'll get a daily Bible reading (you can read additional chapters), a brief devotional, reflection questions, and a prayer focus. Read on-the-go from your mobile device by downloading the Youversion Bible App. When in the app, navigate to "Plans" and search for the "21 Day Fast" reading plan by LifeChurch.tv. DAVI DANIEL 10 This passage is a source for the idea of a 21-day fast. As you set apart these three weeks to seek God, know that God has already heard your prayer. He is already at work on your behalf. What specific clarity of vision are you seeking from God during this time? Write down your prayer so you can reflect on it at the end of the 21 days. Spend time praying for God to speak to you and give you strength. Faith Prayer Focus: Increased Faith In 2019 DAY2 1 CHRONICLES 21:18-27 During this fast, build an altar and lay a sacrifice on it that honors God. It will cost your convenience, your comfort, and it will also take some serious willpower and commitment. What will your sacrifice be during this fast? Make sure it's a sacrifice that will cost you something. Make your commitment in writing and share it with a friend who will hold you accountable to your commitment. Pray for God to show you what He wants you to sacrifice. Faith Prayer Focus: Surrender Your All To God 22

DAY3 DANIELi Nothing but vegetables and water. And not just for three weeks, but more likely for the duration of their training in Babylon! This response from these four young men didn't come from a fear of getting caught. It came from a devotion to God's commands already formed in them before being taken from their homeland. During this fast, you'll have many opportunities to deviate from your commitment--especially if you're fasting alone or if no one will find out. Pray that God will give you the resolve and courage to stick to the standards you've set and honor Him no matter what. Faith Prayer Focus: Commitment DAY If PSALM 119 This longest psalm in the Bible is primarily about a passion for God's Word. These 21 days you've set apart will be much richer by combining Bible reading with your fasting and prayer. You may want to make plans to start a reading plan that takes you all the way through the Bible. How would you describe your passion for God's Word at this moment? Pray today that God will increase that fire in your heart during this time. Faith Prayer Focus: Be On Fire For God DAYS MATTHEW 6:5-18 Isn't fasting supposed to be a secret? You may have started this journey with a group that is fasting along with you. Many fasts in the Bible were corporate fasts called by authority figures for a whole group to participate in together. Reflect on the heart of what Jesus is saying in this passage. What has been the motive behind any conversations you've had about fasting? Is it to encourage others or receive support? Is there some secret wish to be seen as holy or spiritual? Only two know the answer to those questions--you and God. Pray today asking God to uncover your motives for fasting and ask for ways you can seek the encouragement you need without clouding your heart with pride. Faith Prayer Focus: Government Offlclals and for God to show you what He wants you to sacrifice.

DAY READING PLAN DAYB ISAIAHSB This is a message from God to His people who were frustrated with His lack of response to their fasting. It's easy to confuse fasting with a hunger strike to get God to do what you want. But this chapter says what He wants. Pray that God will use your experience with hunger and discomfort to permanently alter how you see those in the world who are lost and needy. Pray that God will empty you of all that is you and fill you with all that is Him. Faith Prayer Focus: Surrender Your All To God DAV7 MARK 14:1-26 Broken and poured out. You see those words in both the story of the woman and the last supper. Since bread and wine are likely not options for you to remember Jesus during these 21 days, do what the woman did. Do what Jesus did. Live your life broken and poured out in remembrance of what He has done for you. How can your life be a living memorial to Christ? Talk to God about things in your life that need to be broken and poured out like that vase of perfume. Faith Prayer Focus: FCA DAYB PSALM100 You are entering week two of your fast! This psalm talks about entering God's presence with thankfulness, gladness, joy, and praise in your heart. If you've become focused on the physical hardships you're facing or the burdens you're bringing to God in prayer, then spend today just being joyful in the Lord. Write down some things that bring you joy today. Sing a song of praise to Him. Pray that God will stir an urgency to press in and see what God has for you in Faith Prayer Focus: Praise and Worship God

DAYS ROMANS12 This is a great time to explore how you can present your body as a living sacrifice to God. This passage starts with that challenge and offers many ways to express it. In what ways has your fast been helping you experience true worship in new ways? Pray today and ask God to continue to reveal His will for you during this time of sacrifice and worship. Faith Prayer Focus: Pray For A Clean Heart & Right Spirit DAVID LUKE4 Forty days of nothing? Not hardly. Even though Jesus fasted for forty days, He clearly came out stronger than ever based on the events following it. How is your fast strengthening you? Do you feel like you're floundering? Maybe you're not experiencing the outcomes you expected. Ask God to lead you into the same kind of preparation, power, and purpose that Jesus gained from His time of fasting. Faith Prayer Focus: Pray For A Closer Relationship With God DAY 11 JAMES1 This chapter has many convicting challenges--one being for you to match your faith with action. Don't just contemplate God's Word, do what it says. You are now beginning the second half of your fast. Reflect on whether your fast would be characterized more by listening or doing. Ask God for wisdom about where He wants to lead you during this second half of your fast. Faith Prayer Focus: Listen To The Voice Of God DAY READING PLAN

DAY12 2 CORINTHIANS 1 Food is a source of comfort for many. Reflect on how much your thoughts have been overtaken with craving certain foods, missing the things you're fasting from, or even how much weight you could lose. Is it often? If it were alcohol or a harmful drug, would you consider yourself addicted if you were this consumed with your desire for them? For many, this fast can begin an awareness of a harmful place food may have in your life. It can reveal an addiction. Pray that the God of compassion and all comfort will become your primary source of comfort. As you scarify in fasting ask Him to use this experience to remove anything in your life that is hindering you from getting closer to Him. Faith Prayer Focus: Deliverance DAY13 1 PETER2 You are chosen, holy, set apart, a royal priest--you are a child of God. You may be in need of an anchor right now. Set Christ as your cornerstone today. Write down the ways He has brought you from darkness into light. Spend time in prayer today thanking God for beginning a work in you with His Son set as the foundation for Him to build upon. Faith Prayer Focus: Thankfulness DAYl'i MATTHEW S:1-14 Blessed are those who hunger... If you can relate to that, spend time meditating on this passage called the Beatitudes or Blessings. Make a point today to count your blessings. Keep a journal with you all day to write down the blessings that God brings to your mind. Pray to thank Him for the blessings, even the ones that come as a result of enduring hardships or trials. Faith Prayer Focus: Blessings DAY READDNGi PLAN

DAVIS PSALM S1 You're starting the third and final week of your fast. If you're fasting with a group, take time to reflect together and celebrate what God has begun. If you've been fasting alone, be sure to write down your experiences. Even though you may feel like you're in a groove now, for many this final week will be harder than the others. Ask God to search you and begin to shine a light on all the dark corners of your heart. Ask Him to use this last week to refine you and cleanse you. Faith Prayer Focus: Deliverance DAY16 PSALM27 The title of today's reading is A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God. It talks about seeking one thing. During this time of seeking, it's easy to focus on seeking things from God instead of just seeking God-- to seek His hand and not His face. Think of the difference between approaching a king to kiss his hand and approaching a loving father to kiss his face. God is both our King and Father. He is capable of meeting your needs and answering your prayers. But He also loves you more deeply than you can ever know. When you seek His face, you end up in a much closer posture to Him. Pray today that you will seek God's face and get closer to Him than you ever have before. Faith Prayer Focus: Trust God In All Things For All Things DAY17 DANIEL3 This is one of the most dazzling stories in the Bible. You can surely relate to the situation these three young men faced--when facts fly in the face of truth. The facts were that they had broken the law; the punishment was death, Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful man in the world, the fire was hot enough to kill a nearby guard, there were plenty more guards to throw them in, and they were either going to bow or burn. Period. But the truth opposed those facts, and truth was what the three men stood upon. The truth was that either their God was going to deliver them or they would willingly die in His service. The truth is that the Son of God walked with them through the flames. What facts are you facing that defy God's truth? Take the facts to God in prayer today and believe with boldness that your God will be with you in the fire. Faith Prayer Focus: Steadfast And Unmovable Faith

DAY1B JOEL 2:12-32 Tear your hearts instead. You can finish strong by making sure you are weeping and mourning and tearing your heart open wide to allow God's power and presence to sweep across the landscape of your life. Tell God today that you are baring your heart before His mercy, compassion, and unfailing love. Ask Him to give you the courage to join His advancing army. Ask Him to open your eyes to dreams and visions. Faith Prayer Focus: Greater Anointing DAY READING PLAN DAY19 PSALM84 Do your heart and flesh feel faint? As you near the end of your fast, think of the marvelous joy of spending this one day in His courts. Praise Him for the ways you are growing and seeking Him more. No matter where you are, read this psalm out loud today as your prayer to God. Personalize it or add to it. Sing it loudly or just whisper. Faith Prayer Focus: Growth in Wisdom DAY20 ZECHARIAH7 Are you considering continuing your fast or maybe beginning new habits of regular fasting? In this chapter people are wondering if they should continue the fasting calendar they had kept and the Lord answers through Zechariah. Since Moses' time, God instituted a whole calendar of fasts and feasts. Both were designed to draw His people closer to Him. If drawing closer to God is your goal every day, both times of fasting and feasting can be holy to the Lord. Take time to allow God to speak to you about your fasting experience. Ask God to help you reflect on the ways your fast has softened your heart and influenced you to treat others differently. Faith Prayer Focus: Flnanclal Provision

DAY21 EZEKIEL 47:1-12 No matter how deep you are now, wade in deeper still. Don't worry about what's going to get wet. Don't stop at the point where you can keep your feet underneath you. Get swept away. What are you holding on to? What are your hesitations to living a more Spirit-led life of faith? What illusion of control are you clinging to? Go all in. Pray today that this fast will be just the beginning of a deeper relationship with God. Pray that He will continue to beckon you to dive in and let Him take complete control of your life. Faith Prayer Focus: Revival IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER IN YOUR STUDY, HERE ARE ADDITIONAL TIPS: Reread the daily passage in a different Bible translation or paraphrase. DAY READDNG PLAN Utilize online resources, such as those available from Utilize a commentary, such as those by Matthew Henry or online at Cross-reference your daily reading, using the footnotes in your study Bible. Research words in their original language using Strong's Concordance.

We want to encourage you to be just as intentional about the next twenty-one days... and the next twenty-one days after that... and so on. Remember, keeping the fire and zeal for God burning in your hearts is what will keep your relationship with Him fresh and new. It will allow you to continue serving and obeying Him from a position of wanting to experience Him in a greater way. You will have joy of your salvation everyday-regardless of what life brings your way. The principles you have practiced in these twenty-one days are very easy to sustain long-term. Prayer, fasting, THE NEXT 21DAVS and personal devotion are all quite simple to incorporate into your every day life. Over these last twenty-one days, you've created space for God to fill. The best way to continue in these same practices is to keep that space open indefinitely. Don't allow it to close up! Protect that time and space with God and make it your priority each day. Just like reading your Bible, praying, and attending church, fasting is also a lifestyle. We encourage you to establish a frequency and consistency of fasting in your life. Remember, this is not a legalistic thing. This is an "I GET TO Experience God" thing. It is like going into heaven for a tune up, so we can keep our passion for God and enjoyment of Him at a high level. We encourage you to do the same. Figure out what works for you, commit to it, and make it a part of your life. Don't ever settle for anything less than a life full of passion and spiritual zeal for God. Keep the fire for God burning in your heart and do whatever it takes to feed your spiritual hunger for God.
