1 ABADDON 1. Introduction The names Abaddon and Apollyon mean the Eternal destroyer. In Revelation 9:11 he is described as, And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. The same demon has two different names and this highlights his dual purpose. Abaddon is the polluter of the physical body whereas Apollyon pollutes the spiritual body. Because of the dual purposes, we will deal with each of them separately. Abaddon is the principality in charge of sexual immorality and pollution. He is also the strategist behind moral decay. Sexuality, and its potential to lead man into sin, is a powerful weapon in the hands of the enemy, and he uses it with force to destroy the lives that have been made in the image of God. There are many demons working with other demons of sexual immorality to gain spiritual ground. Abaddon harnesses the human emotions -- the strong need to be loved and accepted, lust, temptation, greed, lust for power, manipulation and control -- and he uses them to kill, steal and bring destruction. Because of the intimate nature of the grounds it attacks us on, people often refrain from openly speaking or condemning its works. An attitude of respect for people s privacy cloaks Abaddon s works, and this attitude demands that people not only refrain from condemning it, but also refrain from doing anything about it. All the while, the effects of Abaddon s work cause devastation in people s lives and tend to leave deep emotional scars that influence the rest of their lives. For example, innocent little children suffering sexual abuse seldom recover to function in the manner God intended sexuality to be in the marriage. They usually suffer from such things as hatred, confusion, guilt, frigidity and sexual fixations. In our opinion, restoration in such cases can only be found through the work of the Holy Spirit. We have seen God loosen the shackles of years of hurt and anger through deliverance and then replace it with Godly forgiveness, peace and restoration. God is the Man of War, and He will fight this fight on our behalf. He did not intend for us to suffer such violence, but for us to enjoy the wonderful unity in marriage that foreshadows our unity with Him as the Bridegroom, when He returns. Abaddon is well aware that man and woman become one in spirit and flesh when they have intercourse. What was created to be a wonderful blessing in marriage turns

2 out to be a powerful curse in a sexual relationship outside of marriage. A soul-tie is created between two people who are intimate. It is a spiritual bond between two people who have been intimate in thought or deed. An ungodly soul-tie is formed when sexuality is practiced outside of marriage. Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. An ungodly soul-tie is a travel way for demons between two people. The demons in each of these two people now have the right to transfer between them at will. Have you ever wondered why it s so difficult to get over someone you ve had an intimate relationship with? A main reason is the soul-tie that was formed. Unless this soul-tie is dealt with through deliverance, it will remain there and will always be an active gateway used by the demons to transfer between the two people involved. Abaddon has had a huge impact on today s society. The level of immorality has sky-rocketed and issues that our parents and grandparents would never see fit to even discuss, are practiced and promoted openly. Society dictates that homosexuality and abortion are not only seen as issues that should be tolerated and accepted but are pushed to a new level where all Americans now become partakers in these sins, since their taxes are earmarked to fund it. These are issues that God dealt with severely in the past and because God never changes, He will deal with them severely in the future. The Bible also shows that because of the work of this spirit and the poor choices that man makes, God has given these people over to debased minds. Romans 1:28-32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. This scripture clearly shows that those who approve of these things will fall under the same judgment as those who practice them. This makes it impossible for any person who has a personal relationship with the Lord and follows Him in truth and in Spirit, to adopt an attitude that accepts the premise that it s their own personal business. People are seldom taught to distinguish between love and lust and this confusion leads to demonic infestation. Temptation seems to be all around us these days. Explicit photos and immoral sexual acts are common place in advertisements, on television shows and films. This has led to a tolerance and desensitizing of the general public. The fact of the matter is that this is not how God views it. The Bible clearly states that God will alienate Himself from a nation who falls into harlotry. Ezekiel 23:18 She revealed her harlotry and uncovered her nakedness. Then I alienated Myself from her, as I had alienated Myself from her sister. This is indeed a path that most of the world has

3 chosen and, because of the physical and spiritual work of Abaddon and Apollyon, God has alienated Himself from them. 2. Road to Victory It is suggested that you first follow the Road to Victory for each of the Powers you have identified as being in operation in your bloodline (sins your ancestors committed) and in your own life. Thereafter cast out the principalities. Matthew 12:29 Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. Please remember that the wording, prophetic actions and renunciations we have given here are guidelines and that the Lord may lead you differently for your specific situation. Identification of the spirit Identify the work of this spirit in your life by completing the Identifying Questionnaire. Repentance for sins Repent before God for your sins and your ancestors sins, which you have identified. Suggested words of repentance: Lord, I am sorry for committing the following sins (Name the sins which you have identified). Please forgive me and my ancestors for committing these sins. I am turning away from these sins now and ask You to cleanse me. I also ask that You will lift all curses that You have said will come upon me, for committing these sins. I am committed to renewing my mind with scripture and to standing against the spiritual attacks that will follow after this deliverance, in Your Name and in Your Power. Sever ungodly soul-ties and ungodly spiritual contracts Sever all ungodly soul-ties that have developed due to the influence of this spirit. Do this in the name and with the authority of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh Identify all soul-ties that have developed due to ungodly sexual relationships. Cut each of these soul-ties individually and declare them null and void. Declare that the demons that have used these soul-ties to transfer from person to person will have no more rights to do this. Seal these soul-ties with the anointing of the Holy Spirit and / or the blood of Jesus

8 Tear up any spiritual contracts that Satan or his demons have to operate in your life and declare them void Revoke the rights that Satan and his demons had in your life due to these contracts Declare that you take back all rights in the name of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh Address curses and rituals Break any curses that have been spoken over you and declare them powerless through the blood of Jesus Ask the Lord to lift any curses that He said will come upon you because of these sins Cancel all rituals that have been performed against you in the name of Jesus. Seek God s face and ask Him if there are any specific counter / prophetic actions He wants you to perform regarding these rituals Binding and casting out the demon Bind the principality. Suggested wording: I bind you (name of principality) in the name of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh. If you have identified these sins as bloodline sins, address it as follows: I bind you (name of principality) in the name of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh in the fourth, third, second and in this generation. I speak death over your roots, branches and fruits in the life of (name of the person being delivered). Continue to insist on this demon leaving until it actually leaves. This is where you have to operate in Godly discernment. Ask the Lord to help you discern when the demon has left. From experience, we have learned that the following will help you in your warfare: Remind the demon that you are standing in the authority of Jesus Christ and that the demon is actually facing Christ and not you Remind the demon of the victory that we have through the blood of Christ that flowed on the cross Remind the demon that all his powers have already left and that all his rights have been taken away Remind the demon that the person being delivered does not want it to reside in them anymore. You can even request the person going through deliverance to say the words out loud: (Name the principality), I don t want you inside of me. Leave me in the name of Jesus Christ who came in the flesh Quote scripture as the Spirit of the Lord leads you. Examples of scriptures to quote: Deuteronomy 32:30 one chases a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight

9 Matthew 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Matthew 28:18 "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Sing worship songs or praise the Lord Pray with understanding and pray in tongues Perform any prophetic actions that God gives you, such as: Thrusting with the Sword of the Spirit Walking around the person Placing your hand on the person, as the Lord leads you. Always keeping in mind the dignity of the person and what is proper and acceptable Removing yokes and false mantles or bondages, as the Lord leads you When the demon has left the person s body, thank the Lord and ask Him to command his angels to take the demon to where the He requires it next Restoration and Healing Invite the Lord Jesus Christ to take His rightful place on the throne of your heart This is a good time to pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to fill you with the Spirit of adoption into the Body of Christ This is also the right time to pray for any physical and emotional healing that is required. We use olive oil as a symbol of the Holy Spirit and we lay our hands on the sick and pray for healing in the name of Jesus Christ, who came in the flesh Identify the fruits of the Spirit that counteract the sins you were involved in and set your mind on growing in these areas Ask the Lord to help you to renew your mind and to bring you to a place of obedience where you will find scriptures and apply them when you find yourself under spiritual attack. Renew your mind by consciously deciding against sinning Gather scriptures that counteract the particular sins that plagued you and quote them in times of temptation until the urge to fall into sin flees from you Revoke and take back all rights Satan has to control your life, will, mind, emotions and body and submit them to the Lord Counteract the fruits of the spirit of lust by praying and spending time in God s presence, and by exercising self-control Find out who you are in Christ by identifying verses in the Bible. Memorize some of these verses and quote them when you find yourself under spiritual attack Quit looking at your own inabilities and failures and walk in God s abilities and righteousness

10 Expect spiritual opposition and that the spirits that left will try to return -- be alert and aware. Satan will try and attack you with self-centeredness and compromise. Counteract these attacks by consciously dying to your own will and submitting to what God wants in every area of your life Do not waste time under condemnation Pick up the sword of the Spirit and war against the powers, principalities and their fruits in your life! Equipping and Aftercare Share with the person the keys to retain their deliverance, as shared in this book. In fact, it would be excellent for this person to have a copy of this book and to read it cover to cover. This will ensure that they obtain much needed knowledge and will not perish for a lack thereof (Hosea 4:6) Please keep in mind, and share with the person, that they will be tired after deliverance. They might also continue experiencing minor manifestations for the following days. This is normal and they need to press into the presence of the Lord and rest in Him during this time. This is why it is called warfare -- a spiritual battle has taken place and all those involved will feel the effects on their physical bodies 11. Testimony: David s Story He couldn t tell if it was the way her breast brushed against his arm or the inviting whisper of untold delight that landed him here...again! Disappointment coursed through his veins as he quickly gathered his clothes. Sophie is going to leave me! She better not find out about this. It flashed through his mind. Oh God, what have I done? he thought as tears of repentance stung behind his eyelids. Yet, when he turned his head to stare at the naked figure of the sleeping woman on the bed, lust settled around him like a thick cloud spurring him to bury his face in the fullness of her breasts once again. He openly cries as his hands cup her buttocks and he pulls the still sleeping woman towards him -- wishing for a moment s reprieve, as the spirits of Fear and Lust battle for his soul. David is a family man, father of three and in love with his wife. Unfortunately, a deep seated spirit of rejection causes him to seek out love and approval in all the wrong places. Like many Christians, David did not know how to distinguish between love and lust. He didn t even realize there was a difference. He knew rejection long before his birth when his teenage mother fell pregnant with him. He never felt wanted or loved. At the age of 6, David s father, an alcoholic, in a bout of drunken rage, rammed his revolver down David s throat with such force that he had to be taken to hospital to treat the injuries in his throat. It was, however, the unseen wounds of his spirit that, years later, would lead to several suicide attempts.

11 David was still a little boy when he learned the value of coating the truth with a little sugar. A lie here and there made life easier for him. He managed to get more acceptance and lighter punishments. As a married man, the spirit of lies had brought all kinds of problems into his marriage. Having grown used to avoiding the consequences of his actions by lying, David approached his infidelity in the same manner. When being questioned by his wife about his whereabouts, the lies flowed easily over his lips, feeding the growing distrust and division in his family relationships. Guilt, self-condemnation and hopelessness became David s constant companions and he longed for a release from his situation. The constant bombardment of suicide, turned into action as he tried to escape his unbearable life. David turned to an overdose of pills and topped it off by jumping into the pool, swallowing water until he drowned. God and David s plans differed at this time. God would not allow David s life to end. A neighbor saw David drowning in the pool and rushed to save him. They not only took David out of the pool but also rushed him to hospital to have his stomach pumped. Once again David was faced with life. His near death experience uneasily stirred thoughts that a higher power was in control. The life David knew brought with it the same circumstances and the same temptations as before and soon the all too familiar feelings of hopelessness overwhelmed him. Satan was trying to end his life and it was not long before David succumbed to the same thoughts of suicide. This time he bought six boxes of sleeping pills and chased them down with a bottle of Scotch. A second time God stretched out His arm and intervened where Satan was trying to steal a life. David woke up the next morning with no adverse affects of his failed suicide attempt. He should have been dead. He definitely should have been dead! David felt that familiar feeling that there was a God who would not allow him to die. Could it really be true? Did God really love him? Was God really in control of his life? Unanswered questions echoed in his mind and this time David knew that the unexplained had touched his life. Unfortunately, it didn t take long for David to be overcome by his situation again, and this time he decided on a more active approach. David decided to end it all by locking himself and his car in the garage with the motor running. Once again God intervened and supernaturally preserved his life. Two hours later, awake and still breathing, David knew that God was indeed in control and had a plan for his life. The failed suicide attempts did not stop Satan from trying to end David s life. Being a law enforcement officer, David was often confronted with dangerous situations. On three separate occasions, people had shot at him and God had only allowed burn marks from the bullets to scar his body. Over and over God showed him that He was indeed in control of his life. David no longer doubted that God had a plan for his life.

12 Even though David was now armed with this knowledge, he seemed helpless to overcome the battle against a spirit of immorality. It was so much easier to give in to a moment of lust, than to choose to love his wife. You see, there is no accountability or responsibility with lust, but it becomes a burden when you choose to love. As David looked for love and acceptance in brief affairs, the responsibility and accountability of married life became too much for him. Every time his wife confronted him with his infidelity, it became easier and easier to just opt out and leave his family. Deep down David knew that the love he experienced from his wife was real and true and it kept drawing him home. David s constant indecisiveness played havoc with the relationships in his family. His wife was unable to trust him or to show him love; his eldest daughter had lost her respect for her father and found it difficult to trust any man and the other children were rebelling against his authority. It was at this unbearable point in their marriage that we met David and Sophie. Sophie was the one who first reached out for help. David had threatened to leave the family for the seventh time and she was at her wits end. Through all of this she loved her husband, but whenever he hurt her with his infidelity, she retaliated by criticizing and belittling him. This only had the effect of driving him further away. They were in a catchtwenty-two situation and were unable to help each other. It seemed unavoidable that the marriage would end. Sophie was calling for help to overcome the hurt that her husband caused her. Satan and his demons were ready to celebrate their victory in destroying the unity and love in their marriage. God reached out to this family and put an end to the early celebrations of Satan and his demons. Not only were they both delivered and set free by God, but Sophie was also healed of asthma, that had attacked her through a deep-seated fear of being rejected and abandoned. They were filled with a new hope and determination to stand together in unity to save their marriage and protect their family. David turned to spiritual warfare to protect his family, fulfilling the calling on his life to protect them and take up the God given role to pray for his family. We have over the years, ministered to countless couples who have experienced attack on their marriages. Satan knows that if he can break the unity between a husband and wife, so that they fight each other, he has already won a great victory. The old saying of divide and conquer is very appropriate in this case. In ministering to couples with marital problems, it is important to have them realize that they have a mutual enemy and that his first tactic is to get them to fight each other instead of him. There are several reasons for God instituting marriage and they can be found in the following scriptures.

13 Matthew 19:3-6 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?" And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'Made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." Malachi 2:15-16 But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence, Says the LORD of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously." One of the main reasons Satan hates marriage is that a Godly marriage enjoys a special blessing from the Lord. The Lord says in His Word that a union that includes Him is not easily overcome by the enemy. Ecclesiastes 4:10-12 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. The marriage and the family members experience God s peace, joy and protection. The unity in the marriage provides the children with a safe and love-filled environment to grow and develop. The Godly order in the marriage also provides the children with good role models. As priest of the household, the husband is to hear from God, intercede for his family and provide guidance. God honors the family that operates according to the roles and responsibilities He has set in place. Also, do not underestimate how much our children learn from us and how valuable this will be to them later in life. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. There are many scriptures to help us, as parents, husbands and wives, to live in the ways God has shown us. Living like this will bring unity and blessings from God. It will also enforce a relationship between husband and wife that includes Jesus and the threefold chord will not be easily broken.
