1 fruit of the spirit: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers (Galatians 6:9-10).

2 What s on the Menu? Every year we take a trip to Tijuana, Mexico for our annual spring break missions trip. We take a group of 75 students and adults to build homes for families in need. When I say we build homes, I mean we BUILD homes. We do everything from mixing the cement, to cutting the wood, to putting the walls up and so on. It s hard work, but at the end of the day, when you look at the faces of the families who are getting a brand new home, it s worth it. When I think back on past trips, I think about all of the students who sacrificed to do good for the Lord. It was an amazing thing to watch students do good things for others, not because they were going get something out of it, but because God had called them to share the goodness in their hearts. In this lesson, we are talking about goodness. God created us to do good unto others, and this lesson teaches about what the Bible says goodness is all about. List the What is the 6th thing listed in Galatians 5:22-23? Appetizer: 1. Have you ever heard the phrase do-gooder? What does it mean? 2. Do you know someone who is truly a good person? 3. What makes them good? 4. Do you think it is important for us to do good things for others? 5. How do feel when you do good for others? 6. Do you consider yourself a do-gooder? Main Course: Take a look at what God s Word has to say about goodness. While you do this study, pray that God will open up your heart to His goodness to you, and the goodness that you show to others. pg 26

3 1. Check out Romans 12:9-21. According to this passage, list some ways we can be GOOD to others. What does verse 9 tell us to do? In verse 11, what attitude should we have when we do good? What are some ways we can serve the Lord enthusiastically? Look at verse 13, what does this verse say? Have you ever opened your home to a friend? Have you ever invited a lonely person to have lunch with you or sit next to you at church? Have you ever helped someone in need? How do you think verse 15 encourages us to show goodness to others? How does verse 16 demonstrate goodness? Look at verses 17 & 18. What do these verses tell us to do? According to verses 19-21, does God want us to show goodness to our enemies? Why? 2. Look up the following verses on goodness. Ephesians 5:3-4 1 Thessalonians 5:15 Ecclesiastes 3:12 Proverbs 22:1 pg 27

4 Write down the similarities you see in the verses we ve studied so far Look at Galatians 6:9-10. What happens when we do good? Do you ever get tired of doing good? Why? When you turn your back on doing good, what usually happens? 4. Write out Ephesians 2:10. What does it mean when it says we are God s workmanship? How does God prepare us to do good? 5. Write out 3 John verse 11. How can you be a witness to your friends by doing good? pg 28
