Verses An Archangel s oracle to a man and Prophet: He shall sire a Prophet, yea, and more than a Prophet. On the twenty-third, O womb, receive the Forerunner within. On this day the mercy, miracles and wisdom of God are celebrated: His mercy toward the devout and righteous parents of St. John, the aged Zacharias and Elizabeth, who all their lives had wished for and begged a child from God; His miracle, that of John s conception in the aged womb of Elizabeth; and His wisdom, in the dispensation of man s salvation. God had an especially great intention for John: namely, that he be the Prophet and Forerunner of Christ the Lord, the Savior of the world. Through His angels, God announced the births of Isaac to the childless Sarah, Samson to the childless wife of Manoah, and John the Forerunner to the childless Zacharias and Elizabeth. All of these were those for whom He had special intentions, and he foretold their birth through His angels. On this day, we also commemorate the holy, glorious and right-victorious Martyr Raidos of Egypt; New-martyrs Nicholas the Grocer and John of Brachorion; Venerable Xanthippa and Polyxena of Spain. By their intercessions, O Christ God, have mercy upon us.

3 The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord. O God, hear my prayer. The Reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians. (4:22-27) Brethren, Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, the son of the free woman through promise. Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written, Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in travail; for the children of the desolate one are many more than the children of her that is married. The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. (5:1-11) At that time, Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret. And He saw two boats by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon s, Jesus asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when Jesus had finished speaking, He said to Simon, Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. And Simon answered, Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at Thy word I will let down the nets. And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of fish, which they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. 4 Memorial SERVivce Offered by Wejdan the wife of Maher Dababneh :Majeda, the wife of Jeris Hirsh And Roula, the wife of Issam Hirsh for their beloved father: Hanna Nicola Nwaran Aldaoud May his memory be eternal! جناز مقدم من وجدان وزوجها ماهر دبابنة وماجدة وزوجها جريس الهرش وروال وزوجها عصام الهرش وعائلتهم عن نفس المرحوم والدهم حنا نقوال نويران الداؤود فليكن ذكره مؤبدا. دعوتنا تبدأ الكنيسة األرثوذكسي ة بقراءة إنجيل لوقا في الخدم الليتورجي ة بعد عيد رفع الصليب المحيي وتبقى باستثناء عيد الظهور اإللهي على قراءاته حت ى مطلع الصوم الكبير. في الصوم الكبير نقرأ من إنجيل مرقس ومع الفصح نبدأ من إنجيل يوحن ا. أم ا القراءات من اإلنجيلي مت ى فتبدأ بعد عيد العنصرة وتستمر حت ى عيد الصليب. نالحظ أن الكنيسة في األحد األو ل من قراءات إنجيل لوقا تقرأ علينا من الفصل الخامس عن دعوة يسوع رسله األو لين )٥: ١-١١(. هذه الدعوة تتك رر في األحد الثاني من قراءات إنجيل مت ى ( ١١-٤: ٢٢(. وفي األحد األو ل من الصوم الذي تبدأ قراءات اإلنجيلي مرقس نقرأ دعوة الرسل الواردة في إنجيل يوحن ا )١: ٤٤-٥١( ذلك بسبب تطابق رواية دعوة الرسل في إنجيل مرقس )١: ١١-٢٢( بشكل شبه حرفي مع رواية اإلنجيلي مت ى. في الفترة الفصحي ة المخص صة إلنجيل يوحن ا ال نقرأ فيها شيئ ا عن دعوة الرسل. ذلك بأن التركيز على حدث القيامة ومعانيه يطغى على كل شيء سواه. هذه دعوة إلينا. فمن الواضح أن الكنيسة تريد من هذه القراءات أن تدعونا إلى أن نكون نحن قارئين كن ا أو سامعين رسال للكلمة. هذه القراءات دعوة إلينا نحن هنا واآلن إلى أن نحمل ما نسمعه إلى العالم. فيسوع قبل أن يقد م لهؤالء»الصي ادين «عمال جديد ا قد م لهم»كلمة هللا «)لوقا ١(. ٥: العمل الجديد أو بالحري»المهم ة «الجديدة هي أن يستمر نقل»كلمة هللا «عينها إلى الناس. فيسوع الذي يصو ره لوقا لنا في هذا المقطع نراه يعظ من السفينة أو في السفينة. ومن المؤك د أن ه يقصد بهذا الكنيسة التي تحفظ دائم ا كلمة يسوع وترد دها علن ا. إلى هذا دعا يسوع بطرس ورفاقه. وإلى هذه الدعوة عينها يدعونا أيض ا. ينفرد اإلنجيلي لوقا في إيراد خبر الصيد العجائبي في سياق دعوة التالميذ. المقصود أن يذك رنا بأهم ي ة طاعة»المعل م «وحفظ كلمته. فكيف ال يترد د صي اد خبير في تنفيذ أمر»نج ار «يخالف كل ما يعرفه عن صيد السمك أجل هذه قو ة الكلمة. فيسوع ليس مجر د معل م كالفر يسي ين والكتبة )مت ى ٢٢ ٧: مرقس ٢٢ ١: لوقا :٤٢( ٤ إن ه المعل م الذي يعل م بسلطان أي ال يكر ر فقط ما سمعه بل يقول تعليمه الخاص أيض ا )مت ى ١٧-٤١(. ٥: وهذه جرأة لم تتوف ر في معل مي الشريعة اليهود والذين يشبهونهم في كل جيل. إلى هذا ثم ة أمر يتعل ق بحمل الكلمة ال يقوم هذا الحمل من دونه. وهذا األمر هو أن نترك كل ما يعيق عمل البشارة. هذا الترك يرد في المقاطع األربعة بشكل صريح. فسمعان بطرس وأندراوس أخوه تركا الشباك أي عملهما وتبعا يسوع )مت ى ٢٢ ٤: مرقس ١١(. ١: أم ا يعقوب ويوحن ا ابنا زبدى فتركا السفينة وأباهما )مت ى ٤: ٢٢ مرقس ٢٢( ١: وتبعا يسوع. أم ا لوقا فبتشديده على أمر الترك يقول إن هؤالء األربعة تركوا»كل شيء«ليتبعوا يسوع )لوقا ١١(. ١: أم ا اإلنجيلي يوحن ا في فهم مم ا كتب أن التلميذين اللذين تبعا يسوع أو ال كانا من تالميذ المعمدان. المعمدان هو الذي أشار إلى تلميذيه وتالي ا إلى كل من تتلمذ على النبوءة أن يتبعا يسوع بقوله عنه إن ه»حمل هللا.«ترك التلميذان النبي السابق وتبعا يسوع بل مكثا عنده في تلك الليلة )يوحن ا ٤١-٤٢(. ١: دعوة يسوع في حسابات هذا العالم تبدو غير منطقي ة. فكيف يترك أحد عمال مزدهر ا كما هو الحال مع يعقوب ويوحن ا ويتبع رجال ال شيء يدل على أن ه يملك شيئ ا هذه دعوة ال تفهم إال اذا قبلنا أن ها دعوة هللا. فما حدث يذكر نا بأحداث مشابهة جرت في العهد القديم. )أنظر مثال : دعوة إبراهيم في تكوين ١-٤ ١٢: ودعوة أليشع في ملوك األو ل ١٢-٢١(. ١٢: وألنه ال يمكننا أن نتبع يسوع إن كن ا نتبع آخرين في الوقت ذاته فهذا الترك أساس ومهم. فال يمكننا أن نلتزم سي دين أو نعبد رب ين )لوقا ١٤ ١١: مت ى ٢٤(. ١: نأتي إلى المسيح أرض ا صالحة بعد أن نزيل األشواك والحجارة لتستطيع كلمته أن تنمو فينا أضعاف أضعاف )مت ى ٢-١ ١٢: مرقس ٢-٤ ٤: لوقا ٥-١(. ١: يأتي التطبيق العملي لهذا الترك في مطلع التزامنا الحياة في المسيح. فقد احتفظت الكنيسة في خدمة سر المعمودي ة بالطلب من المتقد م إلى المعمودي ة طفال أو بالغ ا أن يرفض الشيطان. وهذان الرفض والترك هما تعهد والتزام. تعهد نبدأ به مسيرتنا نحو الملكوت والتزام يرافقنا طيلة هذه المسيرة. فلكي نعطي العالم مسيح هللا علينا أن نلتزمه هو فقط أن نسعى لنمتلك»فكر المسيح «) ١ كورنثوس ١١( ٢: حت ى تصبح أقوالنا وأفعالنا هي هي أقوال المسيح وأفعاله. هلم نلب ي دعوة المسيح.
