ONLINE PAYMENTS As a result of local bank closures and changes to commercial banking procedures we will be gradually phasing out the facility to pay dinner/milk/trip/book bags etc money to Mrs Ghiwala. Please can ALL parents who have not yet signed up for online payments please do so (details from Mrs Ghiwala), not only is this more secure and easier for parents it is also a lot safer for office staff. Of course if any parent has not got internet access they can still pay at the office until they do have access and if this is case please inform us as soon as possible, in the meantime if anyone has any queries regarding this please can they speak to either Mrs Ghiwala or Mrs Blackwell. Thank you for your cooperation. MAY DAY HOLIDAY School will be closed next Monday for the May Day holiday and will reopen on Tuesday 2 May at 8.45am. SCHOOL FIELD After the extensive restoration work done to the school field over the Easter holidays, in order for the sand to settle and the field to recover we are asking everyone to avoid walking across the field until the end of May. 2 CLUB EXHIBITION Please note the club exhibition will take place next Thursday 4 May from 8.00am 8.30am and at 3.20pm. The sign up for the Golden Tickets will take place next Wednesday 3 May at 3.20pm. The clubs information sheet will be sent home with children today. Raffle tickets will be issued at the office to determine your order in the queue. These must be selected BEFORE the sign up by picking a ticket out of the box at the office. Names will then be called out in order on the day. If you do not pick a raffle ticket you will have to wait until all numbers have been called. If you are not there when your number is called you will have to wait until the end. Each child can attend a maximum of 3 clubs. Any clubs they have been personally chosen to attend do not count in this 3. If there are any spaces on clubs after the sign up children can sign up to additional ones then. Priority has been given to all children who did not miss any Golden Time last term. Their names are printed above. They will also have to select a raffle ticket at the office. Vouchers for the clubs must be bought before the club exhibition. Please make sure you buy your vouchers before the sign up as you will not be able to purchase them on Thursday morning.

4 Parents can only register their own children onto the clubs; however Key stage 2 children can sign up for their own clubs. If you are signing up at the morning session please make sure you do not leave your child until the bell has gone for the start of the school. Some clubs are invite only. Children who have been selected for these clubs will receive a separate letter. We do not have waiting lists. A reserve list will be taken for 4 children only but will NOT be carried over to next term. If any child drops out of a club a phone call will be made to these children (only applies in the first three weeks). Children can only attend Let s Get Cooking, gymnastics and Messy Play once over the academic year. If there are any spaces after the club sign up they can then sign up if they would like to. All children are expected to follow the club contract and any misbehaviour will result in them not being able to attend clubs and their place going to a child on the reserve list. Please note Cross Country will be FREE. Children still need to sign up for this at the Club Exhibition but no voucher will be needed. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Sara Burton on YEAR 4D HOGHTON TOWER VISIT Volunteers from Hoghton Tower will be visiting Class 4D this Thursday 27 April to help the children make Stuart masks in preparation of their visit to Hoghton Tower on Monday 15 May (a letter with further details will be sent home later on this week). PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETION Selected children from Year 5 will be going to the University Centre to watch the Year 6 children take part in a public speaking competition this Friday morning. Parents of children involved have received further details about the event. Children from Year 5 have also been notified. SWIMMING There will be no swimming this Friday for children in Years 5 & 6. Swimming will resume next Friday 5 May. Thank you. NETBALL COMPETITION A netball competition will take place this Thursday 27 April at Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre. Children selected for the team have received further details.

5 MILK MONEY Please note milk money for this term ( 4), is now due for all children in Key Stage 1. Please pay online or at the school office. Thank you. RECEPTION FUND Please note 7 is now due for this half-term s Reception Fund - all payments must be paid at the school office as soon as possible. Thank you. EASTER CHALLENGES CHILDREN S UNIVERSITY Please can all challenges that children have completed over the Easter break be sent into school by the end of next week. DICTIONARIES Dictionaries are available to buy from school, age appropriate: Key Stage One (Years 1 & 2) 5 Key Stage Two (Years 3-6) 6 We encourage all children to have access to a dictionary for use when completing spelling and vocabulary work. 100 BOOKS READING CHALLENGE/SCHOOL LIBRARY Please note the school library will be closed for a further two weeks due to stock take. STORY TIME & RHYME TIME Don t forget Story Time on Wednesdays at 2.50pm and Rhyme Time on Fridays at 8.50am, take place in the school hall for parents of children in Reception class and also parents with younger siblings.
