1 Karachi Club Publication Dear Members, Most of you would now be over the Eid ul Adha celebrations and most BBQ parties will be over. Now is the beginning of the somber month of Moharam ul Haraam and as usual the activities at Karachi Club would be limited. We had in our previous edition requested all our members and their immediate families to send their achievements if any during the calendar year 2016, please do send them to Karachi Club with a picture of the achiever, membership number and the proof of achievement, as we intend to acknowledge their achievements. A program is planned for the end of November and we must receive all entries by the end of October to evaluate the entries. I thank you all for your valuable contributions and hope to receive more. 2 Karachi Club Publication Billiards & Snooker The 20th Edition of KC Open Snooker Challenge 2016 was organized at Amir Bux Snooker Room of the Club from 25th August. This being the prime tournament in the Snooker Calendar of the Club attracted lots of enthusiasm. As many as 54 club members participated in the first phase of the tournament. In the Semi Finals, Umer Saleem beat Hussain Ferozpur and Baqar Kamani beat Abdul Basit Shivany to qualify for the finals where as Baqar Kamani beat Umer Saleem by 4/2 and won the title. Baqar Kamani also got highest break of 93 points. Convener Ashfaque Ghory along with his Sub-Committee organized yet another fantastic program on Friday 2nd, September 2016 on the subject of Healthy Skin. The Guest speaker on the occasion was Dr. Nazia Shakeel, a well know dermatologist in Karachi. The program predominantly for ladies was also attended by a large number of men which suggests that now even men have started taking care of themselves. Dr. Nazia Club Ch ief Guest, President Karachi Club Ashfaq Yousuf Tola along with Managing Committee Members, Ashfaq Ghory and Mohammad Sohail Yaqoob presented the prizes to the winners and appreciated the efforts of Shahid Abdullah, Convenor Billiards & Snooker and his team for organizing such a wonderful tournament. Shakeel gave an extensive lecture on Skin diseases, problems faced by most people and how to avoid and protect your skin. As usual, the program was conducted by Mrs. Najmi and was a house full. All kudos to the Ashfaque Ghory and his team for putting up such a program of such great interest for our members specially ladies.

3 Club Karachi Club Publication Finance On Friday 30th, September 2016, Convener Finance Mr. Mohammad Sohail Yaqoob and his Committee organized a seminar on End to End Supply Chain Management & Logistics. Mr. Mohammad Hanif Ajari, Director Supply Chain, Commercial & Company Secretary Getz Pharma (Pvt) Limited was the guest speaker on the occasion. Mr. Mohammad Hanif Ajari is considered to be an authority on the Mr. Ashfaque Ghory, Convener Maintenance has yet another feather in his cap. Again in a record low budget he has refurbished the Snack Bar which was not done for a number of years. The Snack Bar now gives a refreshing new look with the air-conditioning units also upgraded. Below are the pictures of the renovated Snack Bar. subject and most members who attended the seminar will vouch for his knowledge on the subject. He ensured that the audience not only understood the subject but also kept them smiling with his wit. Chief Guest Mr. Fareed Alam, CEO AKD Securities along with Honorary Secretary Karachi Club, Mr. Jawed H. Karim and Members of Managing Committee grace the occasion by their presence. Mr. Mohammad Sohail Yaqoob needs to be applauded for organizing seminars of this nature.
