His holiness Sree Yatiraja Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami is the present pontiff of Sree Emperumaanar Jeeyar Mutt, Madhuramangalam, avathara sthalam of Sree Embar (Govinda battar) swam, cousin brother of bagavad ramanuja charya. The sreemutt is located at madhuramangalam is 12 kms away from Sriperumbudur (bootha puri), which is the birth place of bagavad Ramanujacharya. Currently at madhuramangalam, His holiness is running a Veda patashala (involved in teaching veda and agama to sreevaishnava vidyarthis), a sreevaishnava old age home (for poor and needy sreevaishnavas) and also involved in other activities, spreading the glories of Sreevaishnavam across the globe. All Sri Vaishnavas, are having a connection to Sri Ramanuja, and hence are linked to God through their Acharya Parampara. The lineage is represented as a necklace of precious gems. It starts with Ramanuja as the central jewel of the pendant among teachers and connects to first Acharya, who is the Lord Himself. Uniqueness in all the Acharyas messages is they all speak with one voice, all their works will support one another and are true to the Vedas samskrit veda and the tamizh veda. Swami manavala mamunikal is chronogically the last of the set of AchAryAs known as poorvacharyas the primary AchAryAs, or the earlier AchAryAs. The Achaarya parapmara is completed by Lord himself when He symbolically took sri manavala mamunikal as HIS own Acharya. Thus, The AchArya Parampara starts and ends with the LORD himself. 15 MADHURAMANGALAM TEMPLE: Maduramangalam Temple is located near Sunguvar Chaththiram, near Sri Perumbhudhur, the birth place of bagavath ramanujacharya. madhuramangalam is the avathara sthalam of sri Embar (govinda jeeyar), cousin brother of swami ramanujacharya. Madhuramangalam is referred to as dakshina madhura(then madhura), lord sri krishna took avatharam in vada madhura, where as, sri embar swamy, amsam of garudaalzwan took birth in then madhura. The majestic temple housing the devine sannidis, for Sri Kamalavalli Thaayar Sametha Sri Vaikunta Perumal and Sri Embar Swamy is located next to the holy pushkarini, full of lotus flowers. Currently at madhuramangalam, the present pontiff of the mutt, His Holiness Sree Yatiraja Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami, is running a veda patashala (Ramanuja siddaantha vardhini) and is in the process of constructing a building for the matam, in which his aaradhana swamy sree pattabiraaman will be housed and worshipped. Hence, we request all sreevaishnava friends to join hands for this sacred kainkaryam of the lord, share their feelings and receive the blessings of the acharyan and Sri Kamalavalli Thaayar Sametha Sri Vaikunta Perumal and Sri Embar Swamy. About Sri Embar Swamy: An amsam of garudaalwan incarnated as first son of sri kamalanayana battar and srimati periya pirattiyaar in Krodhana nama year, Thai Month, Punarvasu nakshatram at a sacred place called madhuramangalam, also called as then madhura. He was named as govinda daasar and He had an younger brother named siriya govinda perumaal. Sri Embar was related to Sri Ramanuja, as his cousin brother and had great Bhakthi and regard for him. Both ramanuja and sri embar were initially learning vedantha under an advaitha acharyan named yadhava prakasha. Very many

16 occasions arose when the Saivite Guru clashed with ramanuja, when the Guru misinterpreted Vedantic statements. Ramanuja fearlessly pointed out the errors in the Guru's interpretations and corrected him. This enraged the Guru. Fearing that one day, ramanuja would demolish Advaita philosophy, he plotted to kill ramanuja and hence he planned a pilgrimage to kashi, thinking that they can kill swami ramanuja on the way in the forest and clear the sin by taking a holy dip in ganga. At this point of time sri embar swami somehow came to now about his master s evil plan and saved ramanuja s life. Sri embar was a Shiva Bhaktha earlier in his life and later accepted srivaishnavam due to the intervention of Sri Ramanuja and Sri Thirumalai Nambigal and became a great Acharya. He was given the title of "Embar" by Sri Ramanuja himself. Embar is the shortened version of the term Emperumaanaar. Sri embar is referred to as the Ramanuja padhachhaaya (shadow of the lotus feet of Bagavath ramanuja). Maduramangalam is the birthplace of Embar. The temple at Maduramangalam is more than a 1000 years old and is said to have been built by a Thondaimandala king called Suparna. The deity is Sri Vaikunta Perumal and there is a separate sannidhi for Kamalavalli Thayar. The utsavamurthi is the aradhanamurthi of Embar. Sri Embaar is believed to be an incarnation of Garuda, for which reason the pushkarini is called Garuda Pushkarini. The information about garudaalwan s incarnatin as sree embar swami, so as to assist swami ramanujacharya in propagating sreevaishnavam is mentioned in Bhrahma Vaivartha Puranam. The villagers at madhuramangalam firmly believe that poisonous snakes will not harm them. In the sannidhi for Sri Embaar, he is seen wearing a pendant gifted to him by Sri Ramanuja. Sri Embar is also known his mystic powers in curing any diseases related to eyes (nethra dosham) and also blesses the aspiring devotees with gnanachakshu (devine inner eye), with which one can understand the real purport of vedantha philosophy and finally attain the tirvadi of supreme lord, sriman narayana. The main utsavams celebrated are the Brahmotsavam in the Tamil month of Chithirai and the Embaar avatara utsavam in Thai. Maduramangalam was originally called Mazhalaimangalam. The mazhalai (child/baby) was later changed to madura (sweet).

Currently, about 15 vidyarthi s are learning vedam, agamam, and divyaprabandam under qualified agama panditha s. There is a balabhogam, run by the mutt which takes care of the prasadam requirements of the students as well as regular visitors to the mutt. Also the mutt takes responsibility to perform upanayanam and panchasamskaaram for all the vidyarthi s during their study cource itself. With the blessings of HH sree Yatiraja narayana ramanuja jeeyar swami, the shrikaryam team of the mutt, is taking up necessary steps for the expansion

By 1000 year celebrations of bagavad ramanujacharya s avathara tirunakshatram, which is going to be celebrated during the year 2017, the patashala will have atleast 150 vidyarthi s in RAMANUJA SIDDHANTHA VARDHINI, learning ubhaya vedantham and agamam. For this purpose, a new building is being planned by shrikaryam team. Hence, we request all bagavad bandu s to contribute liberally to this noble cause and join hands in this sacred work of spreading Ramanuja siddhantham. Acharyan tiruvadigale sharanam Shrikaryam team. NEW BUILDING FOR PATASHALA: With the blessings of HH sree Yatiraja narayana ramanuja jeeyar swami, the shrikaryam team of the mutt, is constructing a new building for the patashala at an expense of about 30 lac rupees. We have been receiving a lot of kind support and donations for this kainkaryam. So as to increase the number of devotees taking part in this sacred job, swamiji has appealed to devotees to send a maximum donation of rupees TWO THOUSAND only (Rs.2000) in each name. This will enable us to give a chance to participate in this sacred kainkaryam for a majority number of devotees and sishyas. 19 It s indeed a great privilege to take part in the divyadesa yathra conducted by the mutt and cherish the darshana madhuryam of divyadampathis s at various mangalasasana sreevaishnava divyadesams. The speciality of the yatra is that, the yatra team is always accompanied by HH sri Yatiraja narayana ramanuja jeeyar swami himself along with the goshti of the mutt. During divya desa yatra, after mangalasasanam to divyadampathi s of that divyadesam, a small Anugraha bhahanam of the jeeyar swami is held, during which the acharyan glorifies the stalapuranam and ithihyams of that divyadesam, including the glories of alwar s mangalasasanams to that divyadesa perumaal. Swamiji also takes up frequent yatra s to various abhimaana stalams of sreevaishnavas like melkote, etc.. and avathara sthalams of alwars and poorvacharyans, such as sreeperumbudur, alwar thirunagari, manakkal, etc So far, the divyadesa yatra team accompanied by HH has visited various divyadesams including, sreerangam, sreevilliputur, thiru vellarai, thiru urayoor nachiyaar koil, tiru anbil, thiru manakkal, etc and offered mangalasasanams to the divyadampathi s there. 20 PANCHASAMSKAARAM FOR VEDA VIDYAARTHIS: With the blessings of His Holiness Sree Sree Sree Yatiraja Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami, the present pontiff of Madhuramangalam Emperumaanar Jeeyar Mutt, the Sreemutt is running a veda & agama Patashala named RAMANUJA SIDDAANTHA VARDHINI which is dedicated for spreading vishitaadvaitha siddantham of bagavath ramanujacharya. Te Sree mutt regularly conducts panchasamkaaram (Samasrayanam)and also Upanayanam to the new batch of Veda vidyarthis, who will join the patashala every year. Samasrayanam/ panchasamkaaram is a very important ritual in sreevaishnava sampradayam, which every sreevaishnava undergoes to become an authorized sreevaishnava as ordained in the sampradayam. The ceremony involves panchasamkaarams consisting of five purificatory procedures, including the adornment of the marks of devine weapons of lord Vishnu (the conch and the discus), urdhvapundra daaranam, daasa namam, initiation to rahasyatrayam mantra and finally the bagavad aaradhana kramam, etc SREEVAISHNAVA OLD AGE HOME: 0n 28 th may 2009, the HH sri Yatiraja narayana ramanuja jeeyar swami, the present pontiff of madhuramangalam Emperumaanaar jeeyar mutt, inaugurated the SREEVAISHNAVA HOLD AGE HOME as a service to humanity by the sreemutt. Swami feels that, old people who are not being properly taken care off by their family members or who do not have anybody to take care off, should be brought in to the mutt and help them to spend the last part of their lives in peace and bliss. Also, it helps them to engage themselves in the service of the lord though various activities of the mutt and make their life meaningful.
