2 THEME : NEED OF THE HOUR THE 3 R S The Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are referred to as the 3 R s. Reducing - Try to reduce the amount of waste you produce, as this is the best way to help the environment. Reusing - Think of ways you could reuse something, like shredding paper for your hamster rather than buying bedding or saving glass jars for storage. Recycling - This enables the materials you throw away to be used again by making them into new products. JAIPURIANS don t forget the fourth R, that is, to REMEMBER all three.

3 ENGLISH Boost your Creativity Make a collage on any one of the given topics on an A3 size light orange sheet. Write a related slogan. Mention your name and class. Get it laminated to use it as a table mat Save water (Ex. One drop can save our thirsty world). Save Paper (Ex. Save paper here and there, don t waste it anywhere) Save Electricity (Ex. One tree can make a million matches, one match can destroy a million trees) The 3 R s (Ex. When it is bright, switch off the light)

4 MATHEMATICS Best out of Waste Take / make an old table calendar of Circle all odd numbers in the month of February. Underline all even numbers in the month of April. Cross the successor of each even number. Circle all numbers that come in the table of 9 in the month of November. Tick the numbers that match with the following : i) Republic Day ii) Women s Day iii) Children s Day iv) Your birthday v) Mother s Day vi) Father s Day vii) Hindi Divas viii) Earth Day ix) World Environment Day x) International Day Note : Do this work in the calendar itself and submit. Write down names of 30 / 31 / 28 / 29 days in the year 2015 and 2016 and prepare the two tables. S. Don t Trash Your Future Trash Sorting Awareness White garbage bin Blue garbage bin Green garbage bin T a k e 3 (plastic / metal / (recyclable cloth/ (vegetable garbage) wood) paper / rubber) pots with some mud in them. Label them as shown above. Segregate the household trash in these 3 pots. Pour some mud over the trash again. Leave the pots for 10 days and observe. Draw how different materials decompose (organic and inorganic). Home Energy Audit List all appliances and light bulbs in your house with how much energy (in units) they use if they are on for 4 hours / day and the a comparison if they switch off for 2 hours, what they could? Interview family members. Were they taught about 3 R s? Do they know how to repair furniture, electrical appliances, repair clothing etc. Research project Find organizations that help the community reduce, reuse or recycle in some way. What services do they provide? How do they help reduce our environmental impact? Write a few ways we can repair / reuse instead of throwing them away. Note : Compile your work on A4 size light pink colour sheets.
