2 It s been 6 months since the last edition of dropped through your letterbox in the lead up to Christmas. Where has the time gone?! In this month s magazine we review some of the highlights of 2018 so far and provide some information regarding forthcoming community events (page 3). We take a trip into the future with this edition s Big Question (pages 4&5) as we find out what the Bible says lies in store for planet earth in years to come. With the World Cup taking place this month, we also turn the spotlight on our weekly football group which meets on Tuesdays at 7pm (page 6). You can try out our tasty chocolate florentines recipe on page 7, and take advantage of our latest giveaway on page 8 by claiming your free DVD. So it s time to stick the kettle on, put your feet up for 10 minutes, and have a read! In February we ran our annual children s Super Club. Despite disruptions caused by the huge downfall of snow that week, the Club drew large crowds of local kids and quite a few from out-with Perth too. In March and April we conducted a Bible Study Course called Easter Explored. Over 40 different people from the community attended. We rounded the course off with a very enjoyable day trip to St Andrews. COMMUNITY CORNER LETHAM HUB AGM MON 18TH JUNE, 7PM AT LETHAM CLUB Last month we held a Good News Fortnight, which involved 10 nights of special talks presenting the key message of The Bible. Our Monday evening soup kitchen in Thimblerow Car-park has now served over 140 different people and distributed nearly 700 bags of groceries since it started 7 months ago. Our Tuesday night football group for young men (see page 6) has also recommenced for the summer with around people attending each week at the Viewpoint Park, just off Fittis Road. It s been a first half of the year, but we ve enjoyed meeting lots of interesting people through these different activities! 4 T he Bible has a proven track record when it comes to predicting the future. Many details of the life and death of Jesus Christ were prophesied hundreds of years before they actually took place. In this article we take a look at what the Bible predicts will happen in the future. 1. THE RAPTURE This is the next event on God s calendar and it could happen at any time now. Jesus Christ will leave Heaven again. In a moment, the bodies of all dead Christians will be raised and the bodies of all living Christians will be changed and they will all go to meet Christ in the air, to be with Him in Heaven forever. 2. THE TRIBULATION Following the rapture the world will be in turmoil. Amidst the chaos a political leader will come to prominence, promising to fix all of the world s problems. He will appear to be a saviour, but will actually be the Antichrist. He will work alongside a religious leader, described as the False Prophet, to strike a peace deal in the Middle East. The signing of the peace deal will set the clock ticking on 7 years of unprecedented catastrophe on earth, when at least half of the world s population will die through natural disasters, disease and war. 4 Midway through the 7 years, the Antichrist will assert himself as a god in the Temple in Jerusalem and demand the world s worship. He will also gain commercial control by introducing a system requiring people to take the mark of the Beast (666) to buy and sell. During this time God will send 2 witnesses and the Gospel will be preached. 144,000 Jews will be saved, along with many others. However, those who take God s side will suffer severe persecution. 3. ARMAGEDDON As the tribulation draws to a close, events will begin to focus increasingly on Jerusalem and the surrounding area. At the end of the 7 years, the world s armies will converge on Israel seeking to destroy it once and for all. At this point Christ will return to earth (the Mount of Olives outside Jerusalem initially) to rescue His people and defeat His enemies at the battle of Armageddon. Those who are still alive, will be divided into two groups. People who have believed the Gospel will go into Christ s Millennial Kingdom, and people who refused to believe will be sent to Hell. The Antichrist and False Prophet will be thrown into the Lake of Fire forever and Satan will be condemned to what the Bible calls the bottomless pit for 1,000 years.

5 4. THE MILLENNIUM WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR US? Christ will establish His Kingdom, ruling for 1,000 years. It will be a time of peace and prosperity on earth. The Temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem and God s worship will be universally re-established. The event we must prepare for today is the rapture. If we re not ready for the return of Christ, we ll be left on earth to face 7 years of terrible tribulation, before ultimately spending eternity in the Lake of Fire. However there will be people born during this period who are opposed to God. At the end of the 1,000 years Satan will be released and will assemble an army of rebels to lead one final uprising. Christ will swiftly defeat His enemies and Satan will be cast forever into the Lake of Fire. 5. THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT Thankfully, Jesus Christ provided a way of escape when He came to earth the first time! Out of love for us, He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Those who turn from their sins, trust in Him and surrender their lives to Him, receive God s forgiveness. When Christ returns at the rapture these individuals will go to be with Him in Heaven forever. The day of judgement will then take place at the Great White Throne. Everyone who has ever died without God s forgiveness will be judged according to their sins and cast into the Lake of Fire. We hope to run a Bible study course exploring future events later this year. At this point, the earth will dissolve in a fervent heat and God will bring a new heaven and a new earth into being. More than 200 different people have joined us over the years for a semi-serious kick about for an hour or so, followed by a short thought for the day from the Bible and some free refreshments. The group consists mainly of men in their late teens and twenties, but we welcome any males from their mid-teens upwards (there s no upper age limit!) At the end of the season we round things off with an eagerly anticipated Player of the Year Awards night in Perth Gospel Hall when we have food, games, trophies and a special guest speaker. Over the winter we also arrange indoor games. So if the World Cup gets you in the mood for showing off your skills, or just motivates you to get a bit more exercise, come and join us some Tuesday evening. Get in touch for more details
