More information about today s worship service can be found on page 19 of this bulletin. All Saints Day Today we observe All Saints Day. Scripture reveals that there is spiritual and everlasting oneness in the true Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, a oneness that transcends death. Thus, the Church is comprised of the elect of God those already in heaven, those on earth who are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and those who are yet to come to saving faith. 6 Prayer for the Persecuted Church... Billy English, Elder Sovereign God, we worship you and acknowledge that you know all of those who suffer in your name. We remember those who are imprisoned for their faith and ask that they would join with the Apostle Paul to see that even though they remain captive, their chains have furthered the gospel, not frustrated it. May they inspire and embolden their fellow believers to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. God of all comfort, for those who are tortured both in body and mind, give them the grace to endure and to see their suffering as part of following in Christ s footsteps. Merciful God, for those asked to pay the ultimate price; who are martyred because of their love for you, may they truly know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death. Father God, for those who are widowed and orphaned may they know the comfort that comes from your promised presence even when they walk through the valley. May they be strengthened by your Spirit, enabling them to rejoice with the psalmist as they proclaim that the Lord will not abandon them in death. Heavenly Father, we ask that you would make us ever mindful of our brothers and sisters around the world who need us to stand with them as they suffer in your name. Teach us what it means to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony; we pray that we would not love our lives so much as to shrink from death. O Lord, hear our prayer. from Release International Prayer for the Persecuted Church... Sylvester Brown, Elder Almighty God, who has taught us through your Son Jesus Christ that those who follow him will face persecution; strengthen, comfort and encourage all those who suffer harassment, violence, imprisonment and even death for being followers of Jesus. We pray for those who persecute your people; may their hearts be turned toward you through the faithful witness of those they persecute. Protect and strengthen your church and cause her to to flourish and grow in the midst of attack. Help us to kneel with our persecuted brothers and sisters in prayer and stand with them in solidarity and boldness. Let them know that across the miles and beyond the silence, we add our prayers to yours for them. Help them to know they are not forgotten. May they feel our prayers calling out in their behalf. Tune our hearts to hear their cries when we wake, when we eat, while we worship, while we work and when we rest. O God, keep them in our minds and we will hold them in our prayers. Spiritual Care If you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service. Children s Check-in We are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children s Church or any other children s activity. Several kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available if you need assistance checking in. Children s Worship We offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service. Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you. Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew s Hall. 19
