3 2017 OFFERING DESCRIPTIONS Seventh-day Adventist Church Offering Appeals Dear Pastor: These offering descriptions and appeals have been written with the hope that they will be a blessing to you, to your church leaders, and to the membership at large. Feel free to use all or any part of these readings as needed. Your Commitment Director, Brian Neal
4 Editor s 2017 Letter to Local Church Leaders Dear Church Leader: There are many promises of God in the Scriptures and have been placed there for each of His children to read and to receive as faith takes hold in our lives. Yours is a special blessing to share many of these blessings throughout the 2016 year as you share these 2017 offering descriptions. First, please read each offering description carefully before presenting it to understand it and to first receive the promised blessing yourself. Then, when taking the tithes and offerings, share that blessing with your fellow church members and challenge them to grow in their spiritual experience with the Lord as they return their tithes and offerings. Be accountable tell them where the offering is going. You have the offering description itself, and, for special GC/NAD offerings, a list of web sites to access for more information. Use these to educate yourself and your fellow members. Do say a big Thank you to your fellow members more often for their support of the Gospel in the pulpit, in your church newsletters, and any other methods of communication you may employ from time to time. Do assure your fellow members with confidence that your local church treasurer sends the tithe, along with the Conference-Wide Church & School Building Fund and World Budget Offerings, to the conference headquarters each month where they are care carefully distributed to church entities and programs as you have designated on your personalized tithe envelope. As each Sabbath goes by, lead your fellow members to search more for the Psalmist s experience when he asked, How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me? (Psalms 116:12 NIV) Sincerely, in Jesus Christ, A.G. Kromminga, D.Min.

With the usage that it gets, PSR is in major need of upkeep, improvements, and upgrade to better serve our church s needs. With all of us pitching together, we can continue to make PSR a sacred place where we can be still with God. Thank you. 42 September 9, 2017 Today s Offering is for Fall Mission Appeal/ World Budget Fall Mission Appeal is a General Conference offering that supports and extends missions work around the world. The idea of sacrificial missions support originated with the literature evangelists setting aside a week during which they would make an effort for larger sales. The profit of the best day s sales would then be a gift to missions. Let s keep up this spirit of sacrifice. Fall Missions receives 1.00% of the World Budget offerings. Missions and missionaries always cost to the point of sacrifice both for the ones being supported and for the supporters. Are you willing to be made willing? Thank you for your help. Please enter your amount for today s offering as World Budget on your tithe envelope.

44 September 23, 2017 Today s Offering is for Conference-wide Evangelism Today is a great opportunity for those who desire to see the kingdom of God expand in the Southeastern California territory through the promotion of evangelism. Specifically, the offering today is to be used to help fund local churches and to provide additional assistance for specific outreach projects and initiatives. The number one priority of our church is to join in partnership with God to share the gospel in order that the church can add persons to the body of Christ. However, by promoting various methods of traditional and nontraditional evangelism, our conference seeks to be sensitive to each culture and context while being faithful to the gospel commission. Can you join us today by giving a generous offering so that each church can have adequate resources to reach out in their communities to share the love of Christ? Thank you. Please enter your amount for today s offering as Conference-wide Evangelism on your tithe envelope.
45 September 30, 2017 Today s Offering is for Impact Pacific By the Sea of Galilee, the same shoreline where He first called the disciples to be fishers of men, Christ appeared to His disciples after His resurrection calling them back to faithfulness and ministry. And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish (John 21:6, NKJV). Commenting on this verse, Ellen G. White describes the right side as the side of faith (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 7, p. 213). The Impact Pacific Offering is an opportunity for us to cast our nets on the side of faith. The offerings are used to respond to opportunities for mission unique to the Pacific Union. The offerings are used exclusively within the local conference for mission opportunities in these three areas: Native Peoples Projects that directly benefit ministries working with Native Americans and Native Hawaiians. Mission in Context Projects that are anchored in responding to specific local needs, particularly Refugee and Immigrant Ministries. Providential Opportunities Projects that are initiated because of an extraordinary opportunity for impacting the communities we serve that go beyond or outside of the scope of existing ministries. May God bless us as we accept the call to be true disciples through our generous support of new ways to serve Him. Thank you. Please enter your amount for today s offering as Impact Pacific on your tithe envelope.

49 October 28, 2017 Today s Offering is for Calexico Mission School Worthy Student Fund For eighty years, SECC members have supported Calexico Mission School (CMS), which seeks to share Christ s love throughout the border communities in the Imperial Valley. Many students have come through those halls and learned the academics, but what they truly remember is their teachers praying for them and with them. Our Lord has greatly blessed this ministry allowing CMS to lead families to Him. Ninety percent of the students are non-sda. This year, the number of students requesting Worthy Student Aid has been higher than usual, and your faithful support is needed. Recently a parent brought her children to CMS, and when asked, Why Calexico Mission School? The response was, Because out of all the good schools I have had my children in, only you talk about God. Many of CMS parents are finding it increasingly difficult to fund their children s education. The Worthy Student Fund enables CMS to fill the gap and help more students to learn about a God who loves and cares for them. Thank you. Please enter your amount for today s offering as Calexico Mission School on your tithe envelope.

This is a time when the members are challenged to give a sacrificial offering of at least one day s wages. This offering receives 4.00% of the World Budget offering. Thank you.
