FH C FFCV JULY 1, 2018 pplies to next fraternal year he P-7 due June 30, 2018 has CHGD Goal s o Be R CUCL ffects Columbian ward nly Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
From upreme Knight Carl nderson t has been nearly 50 years since urge with ervice was introduced as our program model. lthough urge has served us well through the years, in order to simplify our program structure and better align programs under main priority areas, am pleased to announce a new program model titled Faith in ction that will take effect with the fraternal year. his model is an evolution of the Building the Domestic Church While trengthening ur Parishes initiative that was introduced in ovember t embodies a simplified overall program structure featuring four instead of six categories so as to foster greater understanding and implementation of programs at the council level. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
Key points regarding the updated program model are: Faith in ction will be the new umbrella for all upreme Council recommended programs, replacing urge with ervice. he new program categories will be : Faith, Family, Community and Life. Councils should appoint a Faith Director, Family Director, Community Director and Life Director. (Councils will no longer need to appoint a Youth Director and Council Director). Building the Domestic Church programs will be integrated into the new Faith in ction framework. he new model will reduce the number of programs required to earn the Columbian ward to four programs in four categories totaling 16 programs (instead of 24 programs across six categories). ll current upreme Council priority programs will continue. ine new upreme Council priority programs will be introduced. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C ew Program Categories hese four categories represent our main priorities as an rder. Faith: ur goal is to strengthen our men and their families in the faith. When we entered the rder, we were reminded to constantly inform ourselves in the Catholic faith. his formation goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C ew Program Categories hese four categories represent our main priorities as an rder. Family: Father ichael J. cgivney sought to strengthen the familial bond of father to mother and children to parents. ur family programs are an evolution and response to a society that seeks to weaken the bonds of family. We must make it clear that society should value a family that is faithful to God and each other. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C ew Program Categories hese four categories represent our main priorities as an rder. Community: s Knights of Columbus, we are called to serve our family and our God. ur first principle is Charity, at home with our families or in our communities. his is a critical part of our Knights of Columbus mission. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C ew Program Categories hese four categories represent our main priorities as an rder. Life: he urgency of the threat to a culture of life cannot be misunderstood. Respect for the dignity of life demands a commitment to human rights across a broad spectrum. Both as Knights of Columbus and as followers of Christ, Catholics must be committed to the defense of life in all its stages and in every condition (aint John Paul, 1995). Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FR 365 C FL LCRCLLY Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C afe nvironment Program Under Faith in ction, certain council officers/chairmen are required to take safe environment training and may also be required to provide authorization for a background check. ome positions also have access to Praesidium s RU dministration dashboard to view member compliance within their council or jurisdiction. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C afe nvironment Program s the ervice Program Personnel Report (#365) is being completed, ensure that all member addresses are accurate. Praesidium, the Knights of Columbus safe environment partner, will use these addresses to send notifications to the program directors and chairs required to complete safe environment training and to provide authorization for a background check. Directors and chairs should look for notifications from Praesidium in their inbox or spam folder for their assigned username and password to complete the required training and the link necessary to provide their background check authorization. Knights of Columbus covers all costs associated with these requirements. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C afe nvironment Program mail notifications are unique to each recipient and cannot be forwarded or used by another director or chair, and are also time sensitive. he recipient must complete the training and background check authorization within thirty (30) days of notification. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C Categories liminated Q: What happened to the youth category? : he Youth category is consolidated into the Community category to better align all community outreach programs including those involving youth and their families. Q: Do you need to assign a council youth director? : o. here is no need to assign a council youth director. he program responsibilities have moved under the Community program category. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C Categories liminated Q: What happened to the Council category? : he Council category is consolidated into the Faith and Family categories. Council programs that involve fraternity should include both faith-based activities and family activities. hese programs offer opportunities for Knights to come together in shared purpose to foster unity and spirituality. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C FURD PRGR Q: re there still featured programs? : Yes, the featured programs have remained. hey are: RVP, Food for Families, Coats for Kids, Global Wheelchair ission, Habitat for Humanity, arch for Life, pecial lympics, and Ultrasound Program. ote, however, that Columbian quires is no longer a featured program. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C FURD PRGR Q: Will the council still receive four credits, or full credit, per category for a featured program? : o. he council will only receive two credits, or half credit, per category for a featured program. While we realize that this may seem like a penalty, we are encouraging councils to enhance their fraternal and parish life with a variety of enriched programs available in the new Faith in ction model or programs uniquely their own. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
FH C RQURD PRGR Q: re there required programs? : Yes. n each category, in order to earn the Columbian ward, we ask that each council conduct one essential program. he vast majority of councils are already doing one or more of these types of programs. hese programs were designed to enrich the spiritual life of the council, family and community and are incredibly simple to implement, often complementing other activities the council is already doing. Be ot fraid, pen the Doors to Christ
