2 DEATHS OF ROSTERED LEADERS The Rev. Richard G. Hoffert Pastor Hoffert died July 19, He was born in June 6, Pastor Hoffert graduated from Muhlenberg College and The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He was called as pastor to Grace Lutheran Church in Pottstown, PA where he served for 35 years before retiring in He previously served as pastor at Church of the Redeemer in Allentown and Christ Church in Freemansburg. A private memorial service was held. The Rev. Arvid E. Anderson Pastor Anderson died October 29, He was born October 14, Pastor Anderson graduated from Augustana Seminary in 1949, and earned his STM degree from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, where he was a Teaching Fellow in Greek. He was ordained in 1950 in Washington, DC. He served as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterford, Michigan from He was called to the staff of the Board of Parish Education of the Lutheran Church in America and served until He traveled throughout the church during the introduction of a new Parish Education Curriculum. He served as a consultant for the Lutheran World Federation in the curriculum development in South Africa, Tanzania, and Liberia. Called as pastor he served Salem Lutheran Church, Ironwood, MI; called to serve the Division for Parish Services of the ELCA and became director of the Department for Research; and following his retirement served as chaplain at the Mary J. Drexel Home in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod. Pastor Anderson authored several books. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Upper Dublin in Ambler, PA. Sister Gladys Irene Reidenouer Sister Reidenouer died December 4, She was born August 12, Sister Reidenouer graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in1956, and that same year was consecrated as a Lutheran Deaconess in the United Lutheran Church in America at the Philadelphia Motherhouse of Deaconesses. She served as a staff nurse at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia from 1950 until The following year Sister Reidenouer joined the staff at KenCrest Children s Home. Later she was called by the Board of World Missions of the United Lutheran Church in America and the Lutheran Church in American and served as a missionary in Malaysia and Singapore. When she returned to the United States, she served as a parish deaconess at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Baltimore, MD. She faithfully served the church for many years before joyfully moving to Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, PA. A memorial service was held December 10, SR- 2

3 The Reverend Hubert C. Linn Pastor Linn died March 1, He was born May 19, Pastor Linn graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University with a Bachelor of Arts in He then entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary graduating in 1951, and was ordained on July 8 of that year. He served as pastor of congregations in the following locations: Appalachia, NC; Spindale, NC; and Louisville, MS before moving to Messiah Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, PA, where he was an assistant to Dr. Ross Stover. In 1964 Pastor Linn was called to Living Word Lutheran in Roslyn, PA where he served for 24 years before retiring in A memorial service was held March 9, SR- 3
