Sign a Promise Pledge to one another. Promises may include doing extra chores for the week, complementing each other daily, giving extra displays of affection, praying together nightly, reading the Bible aloud, and so forth. Discuss the security in knowing family members are dependable. Identify Jesus promises, especially the promise of His birth, His Spirit, and His second coming. Discuss the security His promises provide. God came in the person of Jesus Christ. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us (Matthew 1:23). Everyone needs paper and pen. Write one player s name at the top of each paper. In one minute, write as many titles as possible by which the person has been known (father, son, employee, friend, student, husband, neighbor, and so forth). Repeat for each person. What changes can you expect or desire in your future? God s Word helps us. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). List temptations each person will resist for one week (playing before homework, going to bed without praying, using phones at the dinner table, skipping daily Bible reading, eating too many sweets, and so forth). Discuss how our flesh is weak, but God s Word is strong. Give each person a Bible verse to quote when temptation arises.
