4 Never Give Up Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to t h e p o w e r l e s s. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. W e are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. So we don t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. Isaiah 40:28-31; 2 Cor. 4:8-10, 16, 18 Changing Times In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:8 NLT He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:1-2 NIV How do we maintain a sense of peace and spiritual balance when trials strike? The answer is found in a close, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. The safest place to be when trials come is in the arms of Jesus. Let His peace inside your heart. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth Will grow strangely dim, In the light of His Glory and grace! HOW CAN I PRAISE GOD WHEN LIFE DOESN T GO WELL? 1. Make a list of blessings in your life 2. Tell someone about your salvation experience 3. Read a Psalm everyday 4. Imagine how God can take negative circumstances to glorify Himself Remember, the overriding factor in your life is to honor and glorify Him. THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER Prayer - secret, fervent, believing prayer - lies at the root of all personal godliness. William Carey To Pray is to change. Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us. If we are unwilling to change, we will abandon prayer as a noticeable characteristic of our lives. Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline Through prayer we are taught to see things from His point of view. Moody Martin Luther said, Work, work, from morning until late at night. In fact, I have so much to do that I shall have to spend the first three hours in prayer. We are too busy not to pray. Bill Hybels Alpha Dewey Our former Praise Band member, Alpha Dewey moved to Heaven on Tuesday morning 11/4/08. The funeral service will be held at WCBC on Saturday morning 11/8/08 at 10:00 AM. Family visitation will be Friday night, 11/7/08 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to WCBC Worship & Music Ministry.
