1 Motley Free Methodist Church, 33 Wellwood Street E, Motley, MN June 2017 Pastor Jim Johnson: A Few Words from Pastor Jim: Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them We are all aware of verses 8-9 in Ephesians 2, preachers and people use those verses all the time..but then we get to verse 10. The church (which is people of all races and time, who have been saved by God s grace because they have exercised their faith in the Son of God) is called to do the work of God. Our salvation is something that only God can do.and God s INSIDE THIS ISSUE Words from Pastor Jim 1 Upcoming Events 2 Small Group Information 2 Children s Programming Information 3 Nursery Schedule 3 Youth News 4 All In Kids Update 4 Women s Ministry Information 4 BOA Meeting Minutes 5 Calendar of Events 6 intention is that our salvation will result in acts of service. We are NOT saved merely for our own benefit but rather to serve Jesus Christ. My hearts cry and prayer is this my friends, that Motley (and the communities all around us) will be saved. BUT then, my hearts cry to God is this; that His church will wake up to the call of God on our lives and be HOLY people living not to ourselves but to serve HIM. We have been born-again for God s glory, to do His good works. NO, He doesn t need us but we have been saved to serve. How are you serving Him my friends? Please don t use the excuses; I m too old, I m too tired, I m retired or I have nothing to offer or I am too busy. Those are excuses, not reasons. God wants to use us. Glory to God Most high, we have been saved to serve HIM. Let us do it! I humbly suggest that if the people that make up this congregation were really on fire with the Holy Spirit of God and willing to serve Him the way He has called us to nothing could stop HIM. Motley, Leader, Pillbrook, Pillager and Staples and all around us would be turned up-side down for the Kingdom of God, for the glory of God. The month of May has been busy, June is going to be even more so. Please ask and inquire where and how you may serve. Please ask Val Johnson how you may help serve our community in the JuneFest or the family outings that were mentioned in last week s bulletin insert. Please ask Jessica Judd how you may serve in the upcoming VBS starting June 19 th. Please check with Richard or I as to who might be blessed by you stopping in to see them. There are always people in the care centers, and hospitals and at home hurting, needy, lonely and alone. Please ask Charlie Poulton how you may serve in the building and grounds capacity, there are building and grounds needs all summer too. You might be thinking now, well what do you do? That is a legitimate question. I am also joining you in ministering to the least of these all over our region. I will also work diligently on bible study preparation to help make disciples, on sermon preparation to call the lost to repentance and salvation and the church to HOLY living, on funerals (I have already done 4 more in May, and 15 since mid December) and weddings ( 3 of them lined up for June). I commit to you to do all that I can for the Lord as He calls and enables me to do; not for my glory, not even for the glory of the FMC, but rather to the glory of God. Congratulations graduates. May we, and will you, pray for those who are now moving on to the next chapter of life? Thank you for your faithfulness to serve, God bless you all. Serving Jesus and serving you, Pastor Jim

5 Board of Administration Meeting Minutes: Present: Pastor Jim Johnson, Craig Weigel, Linda Beebe, Traci Birkholtz, Pastor Richard Broberg, Charlie Poulton, Mary Duberowski and Susie Griffith Guests: Wayne and Val Johnson Devotional/Prayer: AW Tozer Giving leadership without the counsel of the Holy Spirit: Are we leaning too heavily on our human talents and educated abilities rather than the Holy Spirit? God is a necessity, we need to lean on the Holy Spirit more and more, and our own human abilities less and less. As leaders, how are we going to invite the Spirit into our lives more? By prayer and inviting the Lord into our midst. We must remove from ourselves the desire to do it our way and seek the face of God for His will. We must wait upon the Lord. Secretary Report: Charlie made a motion to accept the April 17, 2017 minutes as is. Mary seconded that motion. No discussion, motion carried. Treasurer s Report: Linda reported beginning balance in checking account of $26, with deposits of $120, for a total of $146, Year to date expenses were $100, leaving a balance in checking as of April 30, 2017, of $45, Savings Account balance is $49, The Kingdom Building Fund amount of $6, for April was sent to Don Korach s Ministry as Mission Aid. Charlie made a motion to accept the April 17, 2017 Treasurer s Report, Craig seconded that motion. No discussion, motion carried. As of now, board members have not felt spiritually led to begin this. We will continue to pray about it. A meeting will be held to come up with a questionnaire for the congregation about how they would like to proceed with Building Phase II. Wild Game Feed A follow up discussion will be held to determine what worked best, what didn t. How can we use this as a spiritual outreach - what is our expected outcome? Greeters Charlie and Mary will be holding a 1 hour meeting on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, for greeters. A large list of potential greeters will be narrowed down so that people will become familiar with those greeting. This will also help the greeters identify and welcome new worshippers to our services. Alternate teams will be created for both first and second services. New Business Kids Club Val will hold an end of the year meeting on May 24, 2017, at 4 pm. She is planning on doing a monthly mailing to all kids throughout the summer months to keep in touch with them.
