1 Workshop Breakout 1 Ministry Area Workshop Title Presenters Workshop Description Catching the Boomer Spirit Presenter(s): Shari Wilkins Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, are turning 65 at a rate of 10,000 a day. They are the best educated generation to ever reach retirement age, yet most have not considered how they will use their energy, talents, and experiences in the second half of life. This workshop will offer practical ways of helping boomers find meaningful opportunities to make a difference and leave a legacy. Connecting Moms within Your Community Presenter(s): Marty Sinclair, Jillaine vonseldeneck Imagine a place that meets you right where you re at as a mom, a woman and a friend. Connecting through learning, growing and serving together. Come learn more about our Building Better Moms program and how you can be provided with all of the tools and training to launch a group in your own church. Equipping Men for Ministry Presenter(s): Jeff Kirby It has been said that the job of the local church is to welcome atheists and turn them into missionaries! In this workshop we will discuss how the men's ministry at The Church of the Resurrection is transforming men's lives into effective ministers of the gospel in their own neighborhoods, in local prisons and recovery centers. Evangelism:Living a Life that Preaches. Presenter(s): Scott Chrostek Resurrection Downtown launched with a collection of individuals who took it upon themselves to meet people (as many people possible) wherever they were and invite them to join us on a journey of knowing loving and serving God. How can church leaders invite others into the practice of relational evangelism? It begins when we commit to living a life that preaches. This breakout will focus on the power and importance of personal evangelism and how to invite others to come and see, or go and do likewise. Helping New Christians Understand the Bible Presenter(s): Darrell Holtz This workshop will share basic principles Resurrection uses in written resources (especially the Grow/Pray/Study guide) and live teaching resources (a class called "Meet Your Bible") to help new Christians learn to read, understand and value the Bible. These tools have also proved to be valuable for church members who, however long their Christian tenure, have never moved their Bible reading beyond the "verse of the day" level. Small Group Essentials: Making Groups G.R.E.A.T. Presenter(s): Chris Folmsbee, Dave MaGee There are small groups and then there are G.R.E.A.T. small groups! This workshop will explore 5 keys to making groups G.R.E.A.T. and will provide practical ideas and effective practices for creating, nourishing and managing a sustainable small group ministry in your unique local church context. This workshop is for those just beginning to launch groups and also for those wishing to take their existing small groups to the next level.

What motivates someone to give? Avoiding the trap of one-size fits all approach. How to effectively share your message with the one, the few, and the many. Creating narratives that speaks to the values of Ministry Guardians and Ministry Entrepreneurs. Creating conversational opportunities beyond your presentational platforms.

You ll hear the simple process that Resurrection uses annually to develop and implement strategic plans, and you will leave this workshop with your own game plan to lead a strategic process in your church. Caring for Teens in Times of Trouble Presenter(s): Jason Gant Are you involved in the spiritual development of young people? Do you ever wonder if you are handling moments of crisis in the best way possible? Come and learn some do s and don ts of caring for teens and their families as they navigate ordinary challenges of adolescence and the specific crisis that arise in this population. We will explore how to identify issues, how to know when to refer to another professional, and how to develop your own resource list. Creating a Caring Congregation Presenter(s): Wendy Chrostek, Susan Bell Learn the nuts and bolts of how Resurrection has built their care ministry team. You will hear how we recruit, equip and organize key volunteers ( Ministers) who work alongside their pastor to provide excellent care of your congregation. This workshop will help pastors and lay persons evaluate and create a plan of care for your church and community by equipping you with tools necessary for providing ministry and implementing a Ministry program in your local church.

4 Faithful Financial Presenter(s): James Cochran, Jennifer Creager Finding the balance between a congregant's need, the needs of the larger community, and the most faithful use of a church's resources can be tricky. Resurrection engages in a continuous effort to find this balance by focusing on establishing consistent standards, engaging community resources, and utilizing a team approach to care. Join Jennifer Creagar, Financial Program Director, and James Cochran, Director of Counseling Ministries, for an engaging discussion at the crossroads of care and stewardship. Recovery Ministry Presenter(s): Tom Langhofer We will discuss how to begin and/or expand recovery programs for your church by sharing the various tools we use to help those who are struggling from drug, alcohol, opioid, pornography, sex and other addictions that are a reality in society today. We also will share tools we use to help counsel and console family and friends who are affected by their loved ones in their addiction, as addiction affects over 30% of the population in very real and serious devastating ways. We will have many of our group leaders and volunteers in attendance who will share how they run their classes and how we have actively promoted our programs to the community at large. Families of Faith Presenter(s): Lisa Holliday Learn how KiDSCOR partners with parents and caregivers to provide resources and opportunities encouraging faith development within the home. Also discover the ministries KiDSCOR offers for families in the church and community within the areas of missions, pastoral care, discipleship and worship. Inspiring, Equipping and Encouraging Children's Ministry Volunteers. Presenter(s): Amy Fulton We all need volunteers to run our ministries. Come and hear ideas on how we inspire, equip and encourage our children's ministry volunteers. It's More than Confirmation! In this workshop, we ll be sharing stories, experiments, and advice on how to connect with a generation that perplexes the modern church. Right from the Start-Nursery Ministry Presenter(s): Cheri Rappe Upward Sports for Kids Presenter(s): Dave Robertson, Kayla Koenig Join us as discuss the logistics of how to develop and successfully operate a thriving Nursery Ministry. Upward Sports helps develop kids mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially through many different sports including basketball, soccer, flag football, cheer, baseball and more. Upward is also a great way to get young parents, especially young dads, serving Christ at your church and in your community. Teams serving need critical components throughout the application process, including but not limited to deadlines, tools and resources. Beyond the actual tasks and extremely as important are the spiritual readiness, cultural understanding and team unity. Each is vital for transformation to take place, and through comprehensive training sessions team members not only see the world as a smaller place but also see their world through a different lens. Through specifically designed online communication platforms and training, individuals are equipped with a Spiritual and Cultural Foundation, Emergency Health & Safety and a Packing Party element that includes team building activities. Ultimate goal for team members is to make a difference in all lives, including themselves through the dedicated time preparing and using those skills to go out into the world as God s hands and feet. Mission Serving Events for Families and More Presenter(s): Chris Holliday Are you looking for ways to help children, students and adults serve together? At this workshop, we'll talk about creating mission events and opportunities that are fun, full of purpose, appealing and accessible to ALL generations. Building Teams and Creative Contemporary Worship Experiences in Small to Medium Churches Intro to Video Storytelling for Churches Presenter(s): Lindsey Hefner Presenter(s): Lee Rudeen, Kersee Meyer Utilizing the volunteers, tools, and resources we already have, this workshop is designed to walk through practical ways to build worship teams and incorporate creativity into our worship experiences. We'll discuss how to use creativity to solve problems, add variety, and engage our congregations through music, visuals and tangible experiences. You know those commercials that somehow, in 30 seconds, make you laugh, cry or both? Ever wonder how they do that? Have you been wanting to start using video in your worship services but don't know how to get started? If you answered yes to 2 out of 3 of these questions, then this workshop is for you. We'll watch lots of samples and break down why they work...or don't work. And touch briefly on just how little gear you need to truly impact your audience. It's all in the power of story. Marketing 101: Tools, Tips and Technology Presenter(s): Cathy Bien The average person sees 5,000+ ads or branding messages every day. How can a church possibly compete? In this workshop, we'll explore ways to use a combination of traditional and innovative marketing techniques to reach new audiences and effectively share our message. At the end of the session, participants will have a marketing plan outline ready to apply to their own church or ministry setting.

7 Presenter(s): Kevin Bogan The A, B, C's of Building a Successful Traditional Music Ministry Having a successful music ministry takes many steps including recruiting, nurturing and musicianship. This session, led by Kevin Bogan and members of the Traditional Music staff, will cover 26 steps to creating a music ministry that will thrive in any size congregation using both traditional and contemporary music, singers and choirs of all ages, instrumentalists, and even special events and worship services such as Maundy Thursday, Music Dedication, and Christmas. Other ideas will be presented for music commissioning, department retreats, banquets and travel. Your Digital Front Door: Web, Social and Presenter(s): Donna Karlen, Randy Greene How do you create a first impression that inspires and connects? In this workshop, we will share tips and ideas for reaching and creating community through your social media, website, and marketing.

8 Workshop Breakout 2 Introduction to the Alpha Course Presenter(s): Jeff Kirby, Michelle Kirby Alpha is a 10 week practical introduction to the Christian faith. In this workshop you will learn the basics of how the Alpha course works in your local church or neighborhood. More than 30 million people worldwide have taken an Alpha course. It works. Key Leadership in Women's Ministry Not Just Another Bible Study Reimagining a Culture of Creativity in Discipleship Presenter(s): Michelle Funk, Abby O'Neill Presenter(s): Matt Bisel Develop and release collaborative leadership teams that create activities, groups and events to reach the women of your congregation. Learn to identify, guide and empower key leadership to grow a multi-dimensional ministry that meets women where they are and draws them closer to God. There is nothing wrong with a good Bible study, especially if it comes with a highlyproduced DVD and commentary from one of those provocative writers. But what is there beyond the DVD and study guide? I invite you to reimagine the way your church is doing discipleship and begin to think creatively about the ways you are helping others become more deeply committed followers of Jesus. In this workshop you will discover the seven core behaviors of millennial life and learn how to create programs and events that will capture their imagination. You'll also discover the Seven Sayings of Generation Z and begin adapting the existing programs of your church to accommodate their way of life. You Can't Tell a Good Study by its Cover! Presenter(s): Darrell Holtz This workshop will review the principles and process by which Resurrection's Adult Discipleship ministry works to help small group leaders choose studies that will provide their group members with a "balanced spiritual diet." We will also show you how you can access the work of Resurrection's Curriculum Review Task Force for use in your congregation, if you wish. Church Governance Presenter(s): Dan Entwistle Vital churches have healthy leadership structures that are wired to help the church navigate in a strategic direction. Yet many churches have become accustomed to business as usual with boards, committees, and councils that consume energy and diminish the potential of the local church. Learn how Resurrection is governed, how it selects lay people for elected positions, and how it distinguishes between the important work of committees, teams and staff.

This presentation offers a dynamic alternative which uses the natural rhythms of the church calendar to focus communication and calls to action related to developing generosity that matches household activity cycles and felt needs. Solutions offered in this session will provide participants enough practical information to begin to reshape how ministry is funded in their church. Free-Range Volunteering: Recruiting, Training & Empowering Volunteers Going Multi-Site Presenter(s): Kelly Sisney, Shannon Endicott Presenter(s): Scott Chrostek, Jason Gant Penny Ellwood We often work hard to get volunteers, then forget to train them well and sometimes not allow them to fully be blessed by the opportunity to serve. There is much to consider when going multi-site, or maybe you have already launched a campus(es) and are experiencing the complexity that multisite ministry can bring. Addressing the Mental Health Needs of the Congregation Presenter(s): James Cochran How does the church respond to those struggling with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts? As access to mental health resources becomes increasingly restricted, churches are finding themselves called to be important dimensions of the healing infrastructure for these disease processes. Learn how Resurrection uses a multifaceted approach to addressing the mental health needs of the congregation, including community partnerships, psychoeducational programming, and on-site clinical resources. Boundaries in Ministry Creating Successful Support Ministries Presenter(s): Anne Williams, Joan Dougherty Presenter(s): Cheryl Greenough Saying "no" can be tricky when you feel pressure to keep everyone happy. Charged with the pressure of representing God, we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. This workshop will prepare you to be on the look-out for potential boundary violations in Ministry and explore specific strategies for having difficult conversations graciously. Learn the process Resurrection employs for establishing new support groups. This session will provide guidance from the decision process of starting a group all the way to sustaining support groups and care classes as part of ongoing care for your congregation and community. Leaders of our ongoing groups will share some of their experiences of group leadership, and the impact this has made on their lives. Ministry with the Aging Community Presenter(s): Claire Clough Most churches have elderly congregants who are either home bound or reside in care facilities. It can be hard to keep these congregants connected to the church but it is so important! This workshop will focus on care to elderly persons who are no longer able to attend worship in the local church setting. Specifically, this session will offer keys to successful visitation and care home worship services, including: meaningful faith filled visits, empowering volunteers, and how to start a worship service in a nearby care facility.

But they are also the most formative years for a student to learn who the are and whose they are. Let's get honest about our struggles, our victories and walk away energized about these off the wall, chaotic and hilarious things we call middle school students. Planning Youth Mission Trips that Make a Difference Presenter(s): Dave MaGee Want to take your youth on a mission trip but don t know where to start? Should you stay local, do a domestic trip, or go international? Should you partner with another organization? How can you develop long-term sustainable mission relationships? How can you do missions that help the people you serve as much or more than just helping your youth have a good mission experience? 12 Sustainable High School Ministry Presenter(s): Rick Webb This workshop is centered on developing a sustainable high school ministry through systems and organization that helps develop a thriving ministry. It focuses on learning about Gen Z, connection beyond youth group attendance, and program structure to help you develop an intentional plan of action for your High School ministry. Guest Connections ReConnection-Closing the Back Door Presenter(s): Ginny Howell Learn strategies to help re-connect your inactive members into the life of the church so they are cared for with compassion, grow spiritually, experience community and serve with joy. We will discuss the logistics of what it takes to successfully manage reconnections as well as the enriching volunteer experience this creates for those who reach out to inactive members each week. Leave this session with ideas and tools you can implement immediately to help sustain your congregation by closing the back door. Learn from our experiments, mistakes and success then develop ways to make a ministry like this work for your church. Presenter(s): Patrick McLaughlin Learn from Pastor Patrick's study and experiences of implementing principals of the Asset Based Community Development Institute in the church. Whether doing service in a local, regional, or global context, an asset based approach challenges us to live faithfully into our prayer that "God's Kingdom come on Earth, as it is in Heaven." Mission Key Ingredients for Successful Entry Level Missions Presenter(s): Dee Dickey From the planning stages to the follow-up, these are specific steps to creating Entry Level opportunities for volunteers who are attending a serving event for the first or nearly first time. We ll discuss finding mission opportunities in your community, creative use of a budget, holding an event which appeals to all ages and stages, and increasing return volunteers. Learn how to articulate the vision for your modern worship service and how to create and sell that vision to both leadership and potential artists. We ll help you create a step by step plan and provide resources to get a modern service off the ground or feed your current service. This workshop will cover ideas about how to build your artistic team and how to support and love them, all while building a creative home at your church. Effective for an Effective Church Presenter(s): Kem Meyer Are you experiencing communications barriers and frustrations in your church? Does it seem like the harder you work to "get the word out" to more people, the more people complain they still don't know what's going on? Are you having a hard time keeping up with the demand from multiple stakeholders and generations? You know the answer isn't throwing more "ministry promotions" on that growing pile, but you don't know what else to do. So, you just keep going. This breakout will reveal a fresh perspective about how to deliver relief from the overload through simple approaches that maximize resources and allow you to accomplish more with less. Graphic Design Trends and Tips Presenter(s): Caleb Berciunas, Sara Steffens How can church marketing stand out in an over-stimulated, over-saturated world of design? In this workshop, we will cover current design trends, helpful tips for any experience level and share some of our own successes (and failures).
