2 At Bournemouth, a Chinese student became a Christian and a few months later was batised in the church where she has been going since; in Ardmore, a lady in her 20s thought our joy was something that was different to anything she'd seen before in religion. She agreed with everything and became a follower of Christ; in Canterbury, an older woman listened intently to the Gosel talks, soke at length with a team member, ket in touch after the mission and subsequently trusted Christ as her Saviour. These are just a small selection of the wonderful stories from What a rivilege to share Christ with thousands of eole in the summer. Whether it is in the relaxed setting of a beach holiday or in the hustle and bustle of busy towns and tourist attractions, there are countless eole willing to sto and talk about the imortant issues of life, who Jesus is and what He came to do. United Beach Missions (UBM) in existence for nearly 65 years and consists of Beach Mission teams, Christian Answer teams and International Student Outreach teams. We oerate about 90 missions around the UK, Ireland and continental Euroe. There are oortunities for every Christian (aged 15 to 115!) to serve. Don t worry if you feel you don t have any exerience because there will be others who have and they will suort you and you will find that your faith will grow as you share fellowshi in God s work. What is required is a desire to share the Gosel and UBM is a great way of doing that. But the work doesn t sto when the summer is finished. In the last two years 1,000 children signed u for our Postal Bible Club and this is just one asect of our follow-u activity. Our activities are geared to the needs of children, arents, friends and onlookers. During the day we run lively rogrammes finishing with telling Bible stories on the beach. Secific family events are held in the evening. Beach events are geared around the family. As the Gosel is shared ublicly, it is a great thrill to see mums and dads wanting to know more. But the real value of a beach mission is in the one-to-one conversations that take lace, when families begin to ask why we come on teams. Often these are very meaningful and at the end of the week they leave romising to kee in touch or with Gosel literature and many children join our Postal Bible Club. 4 Those who have been before... 3>.Christian Answer Teams Christian Answer Teams Christian Answer teams aim to reach out with the claims of Christ and resent the gosel to individuals in busy shoing recincts or tourist attractions. A tyical' half an hour of oen air work will see someone leading the meeting and interviewing a coule of team members drawing out their testimony and will conclude with someone reaching the and maybe a friend or two!!...and YOU! Gosel, often using a visual aided talk. The talks are varied but often tackle some of the questions eole might ask such as Why does God allow suffering? Peole often sto and listen and, when the oortunity arises, team members try and engage in ersonal conversation with them. Often these are very meaningful and they leave romising to kee in touch or with Gosel literature. No-one will be ut on the sot to seak or testify, but the oortunity to learn is there. At many Christian Answer centres we also run a book table which generates many conversations. 5 Team Princiles Love for the Lord UBM uts a riority on every team member sending time in Bible reading and rayer each day, both ersonally and with the team. Only by doing this can we look to God to bless. Love for each other There is great strength in the united witness of eole of different ages and backgrounds. We ask team members to be considerate to one another and not cause offence or be a hindrance. This includes avoiding casual flirtation with the oosite sex, refraining from smoking, alcoholic drink and being modest in dress. Team members must accet the authority of the leader and avoid extremes of fashion or hairstyle. Love for the lost Team members share in cororate and ersonal evangelism, and are exected to attend all activities. Personal witness is a art of the joint outreach and team members will be given training for this. Doctrinal Statement All team members must accet our doctrinal statement: God as the Creator of all men, and the Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ as the only Begotten Son of God, Redeemer of the world, and the one Mediator, through faith in whom alone we obtain forgiveness of sins. God the Holy Sirit The third erson of the Holy Trinity. The fact of sin, and the necessity of the atonement. The incarnation, sinless life, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension and the ersonal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The eternal blessedness of the righteous, and the eternal unishment of the wicked. The whole Bible as the insired Word of God. Other Information UBM is non-denominational We have a clear emhasis on the final authority of Scriture and the necessity of ersonal conversion. Team leaders are men of siritual maturity with ability in evangelism. Team members are asked not to ush articular exeriences or divisive doctrinal views. Training UBM is excellent training in children's work, family evangelism, oenair evangelism and evangelism in general. Those who have never done anything like this before, work with exerienced team members and together learn about the Lord and His service. Accommodation We usually stay in church halls and team members will need to bring a sleeing bag and something to ut it on. Secific accommodation details and directions will be sent after your alication is acceted. One of the team will be the designated cook. Low cost family accommodation or caravan sace is available at some resorts. Please ask the office for further details. How else can you suort UBM? You can certainly hel by raying for UBM. Simly tell us your address and we can send you the rayer letter. They are weekly from May to the end of August and monthly the rest of the year. We can send them by ost too but would suggest a 10 donation to cover ostage. Perhas you could also romote the work of UBM. 6 conduct. Previous exerience or secial abilities are not necessary but will be useful. You must be in fellowshi with an evangelical church, agree to our doctrinal osition and become a UBM member. Criminal record Checks Team members (for our family work) who are 16 or over need to have a valid DBS certificate (Disclosure and Barring Service). This takes time and so we strongly advise that alications for beach teams are submitted at least 6 weeks rior to the mission. You must be available to comlete and return DBS forms immediately that you receive them. If these forms are not rocessed in time we cannot legally allow you to join a team. Team Uniform Team uniform only alies for Beach Teams. Uniform shirts will be rovided at the resort but you will need to bring your own lain navy blue shorts, trousers, skirts or smart dark blue jeans. If you would like your own ersonal shirt, they can be urchased in advance through the office along with uniform sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers and cas. Further info The minimum age for Beach Mission (and MV) Teams is 15 and for Christian Answer Teams is 17 as at 31/08/2018. Details of accommodation and what you need to bring will be sent once you have been acceted for a team. Costs* Annual Membershi Fee for all alicants (excet Avancer) Membershi Fee It is essential to aly to allow us to ask for a reference and, where aroriate, erform criminal record checks through the DBS. 5>.Avancer Avancer There is also oortunity to join with weeks of evangelism that are run locally by churches with some MV involvement. The ability to seak French is a must. These weeks give you the chance to advance the Gosel in Francohone countries, advance the work of local churches and advance your own knowledge of the language and culture. Christian Answer Teams In addition to the membershi fee, team fees indicated on the form are alicable to each Christian Answer mission. For all missions the team fees indicated will be collected at some oint during your stay. Avancer No Annual Membershi Fee is required if you are just doing Avancer missions. The cost of these weeks of missions is minimal and will be advised searately. A searate form can be downloaded from htt:// *Is Finance an Issue? Our aim is to make coming on a UBM team as minimal a cost as we can. Based on the above amounts, 30% of UBM s running costs are met through the membershi fee and weekly team fees. The rest comes from donations. If you are unable to meet the costs of either the membershi fee or weekly team fees, then lease do not let this sto you coming. Pay what you can (minimum 15/ 18 membershi fee and minimum 25/ 35 weekly team fees). It might be that the Lord has blessed you so that you are able to give more than the standard fees. If you would like to do this then lease just include with your alication (membershi fee) or ay at the centre (weekly team fees). 6>.International Student Outreach Teams We run weeks of mission in Bournemouth and Brighton where the focus is on sharing the Gosel with the many international students who come to study English each summer. Team members are encouraged to book for the whole mission but it is ossible to book for individual days at a cost of 9 er day, but lease indicate which days you are alying for. Leaving the arrival and dearture blank will indicate you will be there for the whole mission. All CA missions start in the evening.
