4 THERE are many wonderful things around me The trees point up to the sky. The birds sing. The grass is soft and green. God made the sky and trees and grass. God made the animals. God made everything. He made everything out of nothing. Everything belongs to God. I will look at the things which God has made, I will say, "I praise You, O God!"

5 The sun is warm and bright. ' : " ; ' ;\'-/: The rain waters the grass and flowers. / The wind cools the earth. 6 Swift rivers flow down the high mountains. They flow into the great ocean. The waves of the ocean splash and roar. God is great and powerful. He made the mountains and the rivers. He made the deep ocean. When I see something great and powerful, I will think of God. "How great God is! How little I am!" 10

7 At night, the moon and stars light the dark sky. In the morning, the sun shines. God has planned the night and the day. God has planned the seasons of the year, God has planned the whole world. God knows everything. God can do everything., We praise You, O God. We thank You for the whole world. O God, You made the great wide world, The earth and sky and mountains tall, The flying birds and swimming fish, O God, we thank You for them all! Smg

8 God is everywhere. God is in front of me. God is behind me. God is beside me. Wherever I look, God is there. God hears everything. God hears the swish of the wind And the buzz of the bee. God hears me. God sees everything. God sees the bird in the nest And the leaf on the tree. God sees me. 14 God knows everything. God knows whatever I do And whatever I say. God knows me.

9 God said: "Let there be light.". And the light was! God said: "Let there be sky." And so it was! God said: "Let there be land and sea." And so it was! God said: "Let the earth be green with plants and trees." And so it was! God said: "Let stars be in the sky.", And so it was! 16 God said: God said: "Let fish swim through the waters. Let birds fly through the air." And so it was! "Let there be on the land all kinds of living things." And so it was done! 17

12 God made the first man and woman We call the first man Adam. We call the first woman Eve. God made them persons. A person can know and love God. God made me. God made me a person. I can know and love God. I will thank God for making me a person. ** rf* *< 23

13 g God gave Adam and Eve a special gift. He gave them a share in His kind of life. He made them His children. They would be happy with Him forever. God has taken me into His family. He has made me His child. He has given me a share in His kind of life I will be happy with God forever. ; ; ; Here I am, my Father. You have done wonderful things for me. You take care of me always. What shall I do to thank You? You have made me able to listen to You. You have made me able to speak to You. You have made me able to obey You with love What shall I do to thank You? 14 God loved Adam and Eve. He took care of them. He told them how to live as His children.. WS>: ft Adam and Eve said "no" to God, our Father. They said "no" to God's love and care. They sinned. Adam and Eve were punished for their sin. They lost their happiness. They lost the gift of God's kind of life. They lost these gifts for us, too. I will say "yes" to God. I will obey Him. 26

15 10 Adam and Eve were sorry. They were sorry they had offended God God forgave Adam and Eve. He promised to send a Savior. The Savior would show how much God loves men. I will pray every night. ';.- I will tell God that I love Him. I will be sorry if I have offended Him. How shall we find the path to heaven? Who will show us the way? God will send us the Savior! The Savior will show us the way! 29

16 11 Who made the first man and woman? God made the first man and woman. Who made you and everyone else? God made me and everyone else. What special gift did God give to Adam and Eve? He believed in God. He obeyed God. He traveled to the far country. 34 I will be like Abraham. I will believe in God.,v.. I will trust Him. I will always love Him and obey Him I will say "yes" to God. 19 God is our Father. We like to think of God. We like to speak to God. We are praying when we think of God with love. We are praying when we speak to Him with love. We can pray anywhere. We can pray any time. We can be quiet for a minute. We can think of God. We can speak to Him with love, FATHER in heaven, I offer to You All that I think, All that I say, All that I do. B LESS US, O Lord, and these Your gifts. We thank You, O Lord, for these Your gifts. ATHER in heaven, I love You. Forgive me, I pray, If I have not been good today! 37

20 PALESTINE 13 God led Abraham to Palestine. Palestine was a small country. The people of Palestine worked hard Some of them were farmers. They worked in the fields where they grew wheat and grapes. Some of them were shepherds. They took care of sheep. God chose Palestine to be the country of the Savior. Jerusalem DEAD SEA I will get ready for the Savior. I will pray, "Come, O Savior, come!" 39

21 God chose a Mother for the Savior. Her name is Mary. 14 God was pleased with Mary. Mary always said "yes" to God. Mary never sinned. God sent an angel to Mary. The angel said, "Hail, Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with thee!" The angel asked Mary to be the Mother of the Savior. Mary said, "Yes, I will do what God wants me to do." Mary became the Mother of the Savior I will try to be like Mary. I will do what God wants me to do. 41

22 Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth. When Elizabeth saw Mary, she sang with joy, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus!" *.*_. 15 Elizabeth knew that God had blessed Mary. He had chosen Mary to be \ ; the Mother of Jesus, the Savior. " ' m\. I will say the Hail Mary every morning and every nighth Hail, Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. 43

23 16 God chose the town where Jesus would be born. The name of the town was Bethlehem. It was small and poor. Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem. They looked for a place to stay. There was no room for them in the inn. So Joseph found a place for them in a cave >v God chose for His Son a small country, a little town, and a poor cave. 44 Because He loves us, God is sending a Savior. Let us pray together, "Come, O Savior, do not delay! Come to live among us!."

24 17 God chose a people for the Savior *..He called Abraham. God said to Abraham, "Leave your country and your home. Come into the land that I will show you.'l,. >,, t And Abraham said "yes" to God. He left his country and his home. He set out for the land which God would show him. God chose a country for the Savior... ^... *.It is the country of Palestine God chose a Mother for the Savior.,- - Her name is Mary. God sent an angel to tell the good news to Mary. 26 18 Angels announced the good news. They sang, "Jesus, the Savior, is born!" Shepherds heard the angels' song. They came to see Jesus. They found Him with Mary and Joseph They knelt down to adore Him. God kept His promise. He sent His Son Jesus to save us. I will kneel down and adore Jesus. Jesus, the Savior, is the Son of God. 50

27 Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple. They offered Him to God the Father. 19 In the Temple, they met Simeon. Simeon was waiting for the Savior. How happy Simeon was,: _ when he saw the Infant Jesus. He thanked God the Father for sending the Savior. _ Simeon said, "God has sent us the Savior! The Savior will show us the way to heaven. He is a Light for the whole world." Each day, I will thank God for sending His Son Jesus. The Light of all the world has come. With Mary let us offer Him, To God the Father, offer Him, The Lord, the Light of all the world.

28 20 Wise Men saw a new star in the sky. The star was a sign that the Savior was born. The Wise Men followed the star. Farther and farther they traveled. The star led them to Jesus, the Savior. They found Him with Mary and Joseph. Kneeling down, they adored Jesus. They offered Him gifts. Jesus is the promised Savior. He came to save all the people in the world, Each morning I will adore Jesus. I will offer Him gifts. I will give Him my work and my play. 54

29 God took care of His Son Jesus. He sent an angel to Joseph. The angel told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt. There, they would be safe. 21 At once, Joseph obeyed the angel. He took Jesus and Mary to Egypt. God sent an angel to Joseph again. The angel said, "You may go back to Palestine." Joseph obeyed. He took Jesus and Mary back to their own country. 57

30 22 The Holy Family lived in the little town of Nazareth. Joseph worked in his carpenter shop. Jesus helped Joseph. What do you think He did to help Joseph? Mary did the housework and cooked the food. Jesus helped His Mother Mary. What do you think Jesus did to help His Mother? I will help my mother and my father, I will obey them. 58

31 ?; m < v The Holy Family went to Jerusalem. When it was time to go home, Mary and Joseph could not find Jesus. They looked everywhere. They were sad. 23 At last, they found Jesus. He was teaching in the Temple. Mary said, "Son, we have looked everywhere for You.' Jesus asked, "Why did you look for Me? Didn't you know that I must do My Father's work?" And that is just what Jesus was doing. He was teaching about His Father. Then, Jesus went back to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph., He obeyed them...-, >. ; 61

A wonderful thing happened when John baptized Jesus. The heavens opened. The Holy Spirit appeared. in the sign of a dove. A Voice from heaven said, "This is My beloved Son. I am well pleased with Him." V* \ The Father is God. He spoke. The Son is God. He was baptized. The Holy Spirit is God. He appeared in the sign of a dove. We call these three Persons 66 Who are one God, the Holy Trinity. I believe in the Holy Trinity. 35 26 Jesus and His friends went to a wedding party. The Mother of Jesus went, too. There was not enough wine for everyone. Mary said to Jesus, "They have no more wine." Nearby, there were six stone water jars. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water." The servants filled the jars to the brim. Then, Jesus said, "Pour some out now. Take it to the master of the house." The master of the house tasted it. The water was changed into wine! Yes, Jesus had changed the water into wine 68 I will ask Mary to pray to Jesus for me.

36 27 One day, Jesus said to Peter, "Row out to the deep water. Let down your nets for a catch of fish." Peter said to Jesus, have been fishing all night. We have not caught one fish. But at Your word, I will let down my nets." And down, down, Peter put the nets. Suddenly, the nets were filled with fish. The nets were so full they began to break. Peter called his friends to help him. Together, they pulled in the fish. Then, Jesus said, "You shall follow Me. You shall be fishers of men!" Jesus is the Son of God. Peter and his friends left everything to follow Jesus. I will ask God to help our priests. They are His fishers of men. 71

37 Jesus was praying. The Apostles saw Him Jesus said to His Apostles, "When you pray, say: 28 The Apostles said, "See how Jesus prays. Jesus prays with all His heart." Jesus teaches us how to pray. 'Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil/ " He teaches us to pray to God, our Father, with love I will pray the Our Father every day. 73

38 ' K 29 Jesus was teaching the people. He was curing the sick. When evening came, the people were hungry. Jesus said to the Apostles, "Give them something to eat." The Apostles said, "There are five thousand men here. We have only five loaves of bread and two fish. It is not enough." Jesus blessed the bread and fish. Now, there was enough for everyone They even had some left. Jesus is good. Jesus is powerful. Jesus is God. 74 I will tell Jesus that I adore Him. c "

41 ,1" 31 Jesus went from village to village. The people brought their children to Jesus. One day, the Apostles began to send the children away. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me. Do not send them away." Then, Jesus blessed the children. Jesus loves little children. He calls the little children to come to Him. He blesses them. He makes them children of God. We are children of God. Jesus has blessed us. We will listen to Jesus. We will speak to Him with love. 80 We will obey Him always.

43 One day, a man was riding along the road Some robbers saw him. They beat the man and took his money. Then, they left him by the roadside. Soon, some people came along. They saw the man who was hurt, but they did not help him. At last, another man came along. He saw the man who was hurt. He went over to him and helped him. Jesus loves me. He has come from heaven To save me. 32 Jesus told a story to teach us how to love one another. This is the story Jesus told. I love Jesus, And I will love others As Jesus loves me. 85

44 "The shepherd was full of joy. He called his neighbors and his friends. He said, 'Be joyful with me. I have found my sheep which was lost!'" Jesus is the Good Shepherd. We are His sheep. Jesus knows each of us by name. He loves all of us. He takes care of us. 33 Jesus said, "A man had a hundred sheep. One of the sheep ran away. The shepherd began to look for him. He looked everywhere. "At last, he found his lost sheep. He picked it up and put it on his shoulders, Jesus, our Good Shepherd, leads us. He shows us the way to live as true children of God, our Father. Sometimes, we do not follow Jesus. We do not do what we know Jesus wants us to do. We sin. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, looks for us to forgive us. 87

45 34 Jesus knew that He would soon return to His Father in heaven. He ate His Last Supper with His Apostles before He died. Jesus took some bread and blessed it. He said, "Take and eat. This is My Body." Jesus took the cup of wine and blessed it. He said, "Take and drink. This is My Blood." Jesus gave Himself to the Apostles ; to be their Food. This holy Food made them grow in God's kind of life. Jesus gives Himself to us, too. At Mass, Jesus gives Himself to us in Holy Communion. I will thank Jesus for giving Himself to us 88 in Holy Communion.

46 35 Jesus knew that His Father had sent Him to make up for the sins of all men. Jesus went to the garden with His Apostles. He prayed, ''Father, Your will be done! I will suffer and die to save men." 4 1. While Jesus was praying, the soldiers came to arrest Him. Jesus let the soldiers take Him to Pilate. Pilate said that Jesus must suffer and die on the cross. The soldiers gave Jesus the heavy cross to carry. Jesus fell many times under the heavy cross. Jesus loves us. He suffered to make up for our sins. He suffered to win new life for We adore You, Jesus, and we bless You! 90 By Your holy cross, You have saved us.

47 Tesus let the soldiers nail His hands and His feet to the cross. On the cross, Jesus prayed, "Father, forgive the sins of all men." Then, Tesus died. The soldiers who were watching Jesus, said, "This was the Son of God!" The friends of Jesus took His body down from the cross. They laid it in a tomb. Jesus loved and obeyed His Father. He did the work His Father sent Him to do. He died on the cross to make up for our sins. How much Jesus loves His Father! How much Jesus loves us! At Holy Mass, Jesus still gives Himself in love to His Father for us. At Holy Mass, with Jesus, we give ourselves in love to the Father. 93

48 36 ^he ^ ^y women came to Jesus' tomb. How surprised they were! The great stone was rolled away! The tomb was empty! The women saw two angels. The angels said to them, "Are you looking for Jesus? He is not here. He is risen. Go, tell this to the Apostles/' Jesus is risen from the dead. He is risen to new life. Jesus is truly God. I will go to the baptismal font in church I will thank Jesus for giving me 94 the new life of a child of God.

50 On Easter morning, Mary Magdalen saw the risen Jesus. Jesus said to Mary, "Go, tell the Apostles that i have risen." :i 38 Mary was happy. She had seen Jesus. She had heard Him speak. Jesus was alive. Mary Magdalen told the Apostles the good news. ;; She said, "I have seen the Lord. He is risen." I will remember that Sunday is the day of the risen Jesus. I will go to Holy Mass every Sunday. I will say to Jesus, "Jesus, Master, I adore You." 99

51 39 On Easter night, two friends of Jesus were going to Emmaus. They were sad because Jesus had been crucified. They did not know why Jesus had to suffer and die. Then, Jesus met them. He went home with them. He said, "Do not be sad. Don't you know that the Savior had to die for the sins of men?" The risen Jesus had supper with His friends. His friends were happy. They knew that Jesus had made up for the sins of men. I will thank the risen Jesus 100 for making up for my sins.

52 40 Jesus came to His Apostles in the upper room. He said to them, "Peace be to you!" Thomas was not there when Jesus came. The other Apostles said to Thomas, "We have seen the risen Jesus!" But Thomas would not believe it. Eight days later, Jesus came to the Apostles again. This time Thomas was there. Jesus said, "Thomas, put your finger into the place of the nails. Put your hand into My side. Believe in Me, Thomas!" Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" 102 I will tell Jesus that I believe He is God. I will say to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to help the Apostles......,. Then, Jesus ascended to His Father. He went to prepare a place for His friends. The Apostles were filled with joy. They knew they would see Jesus again.
