2 Stages of Elderhood ~ Key Points The Crowning brought an acknowledgement of a life well lived and a contribution made. It brought a shift in awareness from playing one s part in the Divine plan to the plan itself. Playing one s part in the Divine plan fulfilled the destiny of the soul ~ benefitting you and others. In the doing you found meaning ~ now in the Being there will be further meaning. Elders wear no hats ~ they do much simply by being themselves and furthering the Plan so each may play their part. The stages of the elder are two ~ the Master who furthers the Plan ~ the Sage who prepares for the Return. Both enable others to play their parts and to see the end in the beginning.

4 Early Elderhood ~ Key Points The souls of all are precious ~ the opportunity to develop the potential of each ~ priceless. The Master provides community and cultural leadership by tending the souls of all. The Master mentors the youth ~ not raising the children by leading the Youth to Soul Initiation. The Master guides the evolution of culture so that civilization becomes ever advancing. The Master always keeps on eye on the Divine Plan so that each advance benefits everyone & everything. The concern of the Master is not for her/himself but rather for others. This stage ends when the awareness of the individual shifts from Creation and the Divine Plan it represents to the Creator.

6 Facets of an Elder s Soul ~ Key Points Be Thou ~ It is humbling to realize that all you are is the direct result of the Creator ~ thru your choice and efforts. Become ~ The challenge is to provide the virtue needed for the benefit of everyone concerned. Choose ~ It is the plan that matters ~ choices have to be made to further the plan ~ not just your part. Fulfill ~ As the return approaches more and more you all called on to finish the unfinished. Love ~ The deepest desire is to further the plan for all creation and to enhance the relationships. Know ~ The knowing is deep seated, profound and growing more complete. Serve ~ At this stage it is the whole that is being served through the facilitation of each player & part. Return to Me ~ The elder is the servant of the Creator ~ service is the path and the prayer.

8 Mentoring the Youth ~ Key Points The Master is the repository of what it means to an adult participating fully in the life of the community. It is the Master that takes the youth aside at puberty and conveys the secret knowledge of what is to come. It is the Master that returns the youth after Primary Individuation and introduces them to the broader community. It is the Master that is responsible for the plan and to help each person find her/his part in that plan. It is the Master that knows ~ from full experience ~ the soulcraft skills needed for each to encounter Soul. It is the Master that can help those encountering the Soul for the first time to make sense of the experience. Finally, it is the Master that ~ by her/his life ~ enables others to trust their own unknowing and to find and follow her/his own path.

10 Guiding Culture ~ Key Points There has never be better examples of the elder guiding culture than Socrates in the west and Confucius in the east. To guide culture is not sitting around dispensing a wisdom that comes from a single life. To guide culture the Master must see the Divine Plan clearing and to speak of the part all must play. Except as you become as little children... ~ clarity that comes from strength. It is the passion and conviction that comes from experience ~ supplemented by knowing.. It is the soul of the community that the Master sets out to awaken and support. By example the Master admonishes ~ by her/his voice they exalt, empower, and exhort.

12 Culture & Creation ~ Key Points The Master s community and it s culture is not the only one. Again the Plan calls for unity in diversity and not the dominance of any one community. Each community must play its part and encourage other communities to play their parts as well. The Master encourages each soul to not seek advantage ~ to seek mutual benefit instead. The Master serves as the guardian of the environment as well. (S)he calls to the management of all resources for the benefit of all ~ all beings. Stewards of the soul, stewards of the community s soul, stewards of the Plan and stewards of the planet ~ Masters provide the guidance needed to carry for an ever advancing civilization for the benefit of all.

14 Surrender ~ Key Points The burden of the Master may be difficult to carry ~ particularly if the openness to guidance is limited. At some point a shift occurs ~ enough has been done ~ it is enough that I am. Previous transitions have been triggered by internal shifts ~ marked by community acknowledgement. This transition is both the same and yet different ~ the internal shift triggers it and it is quietly acknowledged. Others ~ who have expected much now say let the individual be ~ as other Masters take their place. The Surrender is not a funeral ~ it is rather a freeing so that the Sage can do what must still be done. Like the Second Cocoon ~ that what needs to be done is an internal process ~ not an external role.

15 Surrender A celebration of soul-transcendence. The Surrender marks a shift from the soul of the community to a focus on reuniting with Spirit.

16 Late Elderhood ~ Key Points The Sage has one task ~ to turn fully toward Spirit and prepare for the Return. This will result in a final accounting ~ so that which remains to be done is done while there is yet time. These are not likely external tasks but internal revelations and realignments. Potential undeveloped ~ issue a call for development ~ even if it involves acquiring new skills. The body which carried you this far is tended to like an old dying friend who shared your life ~ with care, respect and tenderness. Virtues unacquired ~ ask for a visit and comfort in Their presence. Confusion and temerity ~ call for clarity and confidence. The turning complete ~ we await the good pleasure of Spirit ~ the transition will be the Return itself.

Become ~ Virtues ~ they do not belong to me ~ they belong only to Spirit ~ I have walked in their light. Choose ~ By my choices and efforts I prepare to meet my Maker ~ with head held high. Fulfill ~ To the human spirit will go my virtues, my knowledge, my comprehension, my experience. Love ~ In my heart is the Creator and the totality of Creation. Know ~ I know what part I played ~ I know the Play and the Plan ~ it is my story it is our story. Serve ~ In my presence you will find the Grace of the Spirit ~ thankful & tranquil. Return to Me ~ I honour the Giver by returning the sacred trust ~ fully developed and well cared for.

20 All or Nothing at All ~ Key Points It depends on how you look at it ~ it depends on your awareness. In the light of eternity ~ the Plan of the Creator ~ the Creator ~ my soul is utter nothingness. I played my part ~ by my choice and efforts ~ I fulfilled my destiny. The Plan was furthered ~ everyone benefited ~ everyone advanced ~ my part was critical. Each played her/his part ~ by their choice and efforts ~ each fulfilled her/his destiny. We are the same ~ no one more important ~ no one more critical than another. Each did nothing more than fulfill the trust ~ the soul within ~ entrusted to each by the Creator. It has been a difficult, rewarding path to the lofty heights of nothingness.

22 Virtues for Virtues Sake ~ Key Points Virtues cannot be possessed ~ they can t be owned ~ They are direct emanations of Spirit ~ Angels. I have learned to acquire them ~ to have their Spirits informed my spirit. I have lived for a time in Their light ~ the world was a place of Beauty, Justice, Kindness etc for a time. They have made me who I am ~ They developed my Character. The gave me the inner strength, helped me to see the right and do the right, at the right time for the right reasons. Do not call me kind for only Spirit is Kind ~ do not call me Justice for only Spirit is Just. For the time I spent with them the human spirit will find them easier to acquire them ~ this is my gift to the future.

24 I Choose to Be ~ Key Points I choose to be what the Creator has made of me ~ I choose to be myself. I choose to fulfill the trust the Creator has entrusted my soul ~ I listen to its call and I act. I choose to develop what is yet undeveloped ~ not because it is needed ~ I choose to develop the potential because it is there. I choose know and to share what I know if it might be of value. I choose to be who I am in the hopes that others my learn from my presence that they can as well. I am enough ~ I am whom Spirit would have me be. I choose to meet my Maker with what was entrusted to me ready to go ~ with my head held high.

26 Getting Ready ~ Key Points There are two forms of the Sage ~ according to Bill Plotkin ~ one who withdraws and one who sits in the public square. Both are preparing for the return to Spirit ~ both are working on fulfilling the trust. The hermit searches within ~ in the knowledge that all will be returned to the human spirit to become a part of the human legacy. The Sage in the square knows the legacy is for both now and for all time to come. It is what that has been conceived, known, understood and experienced that belongs to us all. A life reviewed and put in order, known and understood and shared that assists in the preparation.

28 Relationships ~ Key Points In the creation all I see is the Creator ~ in each person I see the Spirit. What draws me is the Creator ~ what draws me is Spirit s creation. I share myself with what I love ~ I spend time with Spirit ~ I share myself with Spirit s creation. To people, animals, trees and rocks I offer my best ~ I offer myself ~ it is all I have. I wear my best ~ I am at my best ~ I am set out to be my best. It is the Spirit that I love ~ I look beyond the form that the spirit has taken. I love and care for the body entrusted me ~ It has carried me this far ~ I care more for the spirit within.

30 Meaning of a Life ~ Key Points What is the meaning of a single life? What difference does it make? The difference it makes is in the day to day events ~ the choices made ~ the effort expended ~ the impact made. In the story of a life you find the person ~ in each person you find a story. It is not only the story of a life ~ it is the interaction with other lives that is part of the story as well. My story is a part of the stories of every life touched ~ in the touch is an impact and continuation of my story. Touch goes both ways ~ my story is your story ~ your story mine. In any one s story is everyone s is everyone s story ~ directly or indirectly ~ one story is humanity s story.

32 My Service is Grace ~ Key Points Each was created to serve ~ the service the Sage provides is the spirit of Grace found in her/his presence. As a child conveys Spirit the Sage conveys Grace ~ Grace that carried the Sage this far. Grace is the strength of the Divine unbidden ~ it is the gift in action. Grace is tranquil in the world of turmoil ~ Grace is tolerance as the body fails. Grace is the pursuit of what matters ~ when little matters much any more. Grace is felt in the presence ~ experienced in the touch. Grace is knowing Spirit will not fail this close to home.

34 Spirituality ~ Key Points As the Sage progresses the soul becomes almost translucent. The world of the spirit and this material world intertwine and commingle. Reunion with Spirit is the goal and the reality as every thought becomes a prayer. There is no place where Spirit is not seen ~ no time when Spirit is not present. When the transition comes the state is preserved ~ only the status changes ~ to pass away in a state of grace is the goal. To await the good pleasure of Spirit is the least one can do after a life given and lived.

36 The Return ~ Key Points Death is a status ~ not a state ~ death is a change of awareness unbound from the body. The awareness you bring to this transition guides you through. Focussed on Spirit ~ you are drawn to Spirit ~ focussed on ego ~ you are bound to a lost reality. All you did to fulfill the potential inherent in your Soul you will return to Spirit on your passing. That which belongs to you is taken with you ~ that which does not belong to you is lost forever. Only that which endures is truly yours ~ your reward. Rich from the journey you carry your gifts to Spirit ~ your developed them ~ they are yours forever ~ shared freely the rest of humanity who have the awareness to see as you place them at the Creator s feet.
