1 Elective Courses Table of Contents CH321 Missionary Biographies/Alnutt (2 credits) This course will explore the lives of various Christian missionaries, particularly those of the Great Century of Missions, the 1800s. Each lecture will focus on a different individual in order to take an in-depth look at the life and ministry of each; we will thus be able to draw out practical life lessons and to develop a deeper perspective of ministry on the mission field. CH305 Women in Church History/Alnutt (2 credits) This course will look at a variety of women throughout history. The student will learn who these women were, what they did, how the Lord used them and how to learn from their examples. Time will be taken to personally apply the lessons of each woman, and be exhorted by her testimony. The women will be reviewed in relation to five specific eras of Christian history: the Early Church Era ( AD), the Middle Ages ( AD), the Reformation/Great Awakening ( AD), the Missionary Movement ( AD), the Modern Church (1900s). TH389 World Religions/Holden (2 credits) The course will consist of an introduction to the origin, history, philosophy, theology, and practices of the major non-christian religions of the world, such as the Vedic religion, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, Taoism, Confucianism, Secular Humanism, and the New Age Movement. Special emphasis will be given to each religion s comparison to Christianity and Christian evangelistic techniques. 2 Welcome & Introduction Elective Courses Welcome to Calvary Chapel Bible College, Distance Learning. Distance Learning has been providing learning opportunities since It was developed in order to allow students who are unable to attend the main campus or an extension site, to obtain the same quality of education and degree as our resident students. The school has grown rapidly, attracting students from all over the United States and several other countries including Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Russia, India, and South Korea. Distance Learning is comprised of two mediums of study: the School of Correspondence Education and the School of Online Education. The School of Correspondence Education is a paper-based program which offers classes through the mail. This may be preferable for the student who would like a more hands-on, concrete approach to the assignments, or does not have reliable internet access necessary for the online program. The student may contact the Academic Supervisor at any time throughout the course for instruction on assignments. To make the Bible college education available to those incarcerated, the Prison Education program was developed. Classes through this medium are much the same as the Correspondence program in that they are paper based and the requirements are very similar. However, some policies have been altered to better fit the prison system and aid the student in completing the requirements, for example: timeframe, audio format, and sponsors inside and outside the prison to ensure that the materials are delivered and any questions are sufficiently answered. The School of Online Education was developed in an effort to offer courses with increased flexibility and less expense to the student who prefers an electronic format. This program offers the flexibility of accessing your course lectures and materials anywhere in the world where high-speed internet is available. Another added benefit of this program is the increased communication with the student. Course assignments are uploaded as they are completed throughout the duration of the course and responded to, thus giving the student a clearer understanding of how they are doing in the course as they progress. In our effort to make an undergraduate Bible college education available to students in developing nations we have created a special tuition and administrative fee schedule. The International Student Program (ISP) applies ONLY to the School of Online Education. Our course list is as up-to-date as possible. If we add classes or make changes, we will do our best to inform you of these changes. If you have questions, contact our office and we would be glad to assist you in any way possible CALVARY CHAPEL BIBLE COLLEGE Distance Learning Mail: Murrieta Hot Springs Road Murrieta, California Phone: (951) Fax: (951) distancelearning@calvarychapel.com Website: (Click Distance Learning ) TH305 Bibliology/Holden (2 credits) This course will explore the special nature and unique character of the Bible. 4 Academic Calendar Required Core Courses Distance Learning Education provides classes to students without the seasonal limitations of traditional fall and spring semesters. Enrollment is open throughout the year, Monday - Friday. You can enroll at any time during the month and begin as soon as your coursework/ login information arrives, even if it is before the official start date. The Academic Calendar operates as follows: Correspondence: A new module begins each month. The modules are 16 weeks long. Each module begins on the first Monday of the month and ends 16 weeks later. Each module ends on a Monday, unless the Start Date or Due Date falls on a holiday on which the Post Office does not deliver mail. In this case the end date falls on the next business day. The Start Date and Due Date will be indicated in the front of the course guide issued for each course. Registration for each module is three weeks long and ends two weeks before the module begins. This gives us time to process your order and ship your course materials to you. Prison: The Prison modules are similar to the Correspondence modules with a few exceptions. They are 24 weeks long instead of the 16-week time period. The registration dates, however, are the same. Online/ISP: A new enrollment period begins on the 15th and on the 30th of each month. Each Course End Date is exactly 4 months from the Start Date. At this time, the student will be un-enrolled and no longer have access to the class. If a student registers for a course between the 1st and the 15th of the month, he/she will be placed in the enrollment period beginning on the 15th. OT312 Leviticus/Wing (2 credits) This course will focus on God s original plan for worship, service, obedience and holiness. The Hebrew title for Leviticus literally means: And He called, therefore the student will become more familiar with his priestly calling.
