1 WEEK 3: INCREASING AWARENESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT This week is about Awareness. Our goal is increasing Awareness of the Holy Spirit by consistently arousing joy in others and practicing the Holy Instant by letting littleness go. The topic is AWARENESS. We will continue with these practices: Communicate with your Guide, your Teacher, becoming AWARE of the Holy Spirit. Practice the Holy Instant be AWARE of grievances (which are blocks that hide the light of the world in you, and block your awareness) and release these grievances so that you can hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit and be aware of Love s Presence in you. Be AWARE of thoughts of littleness and give them to your Guide A Course in Miracles is about removing the blocks to the AWARENESS of Love s Presence. Love s Presence is the Holy Spirit in you, the Spirit that you are, your One Self, united with your Creator. LOVE IS WHAT YOU ARE hidden beneath all your false beliefs.

2 We now practice the Holy Instant and allow those false beliefs to be identified and removed. We want to encourage you to BE AWARE. Be aware of the Holy Spirit in your life. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Be aware of grievances and give them to your Guide. Remember you are the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in this world. The Holy Spirit is always giving inspiration and guidance that will lead you exactly to where you need to be. So become aware of this Presence in your life, which is Love s Presence. You do this by watching your thoughts, being aware of thoughts of littleness and limitation, and being willing to let these thoughts and ideas go by giving them to your Guide. 2

3 The Holy Spirit is the ONLY therapist. He makes healing PERFECTLY clear in ANY situation in which He is the Guide. The human therapist can only LET HIM FULFILL HIS FUNCTION. He needs no help for this. He WILL tell you EXACTLY what to do, to help ANYONE He sends to you FOR help, and will speak to him through you, IF YOU DO NOT INTERFERE. Remember that you ARE choosing a guide for helping, and the wrong choice will NOT help. But remember also that THE RIGHT ONE WILL. Trust Him, for help is His function, and He is of God. As you awaken other minds TO Him through HIM, and not yourself, you will understand that you are not obeying the laws of this world, but that the laws you ARE obeying WORK. "The good is what works" is a sound though insufficient statement. ONLY the good CAN work. Nothing else works at all. This course is a guide to behavior. Being a very direct and very simple learning situation, it provides the guide who tells you what to do. If you do it, you will SEE that it works. Its RESULTS are more convincing than its words. THEY will convince you that the words are true. By following the right Guide, you will learn the simplest of all lessons: "By their fruits ye shall know them, and THEY shall know THEMSELVES." 4 Be aware of Love s Presence (the Holy Spirit) in you and experiment with consistently arousing joy in others. Continue to spend a half-hour daily sitting quietly, listening, in communication with your One Self. Practice the Holy Instant by being willing to let all littleness go. Be aware of ideas of littleness, fear and limitation and get into the habit of catching these thoughts IMMEDIATELY and then giving them to your Guide IMMEDIATELY. You don t need to analyze these thoughts, just be aware of them, and release them to your Guide. Don t hold on. Just let them go. WEEK 3 REFLECTIONS: 1. What false ideas of your own littleness do you find in your thoughts? 2. What false idea of your own littleness do you find in your speech and actions? 3. Can you pinpoint some of your blocks and obstacles, grievances? Fear, anger and grievances block the awareness of love s presence so you are unable to hear the Holy Spirit, so the first step is becoming aware of grievances, fear-thoughts, littleness. Give them to your Guide. 4

5 4. How do you feel about the idea that your belief in grievances is not really true? 5. How was your experience with AWARENESS aware of your thoughts, aware of God as your Companion, aware of the Holy Spirit as your Teacher and Guide? 6. Are you consistently arousing joy in others?
