1 A Course In Miracle Workbook For Dummies I am entitled to miracles. LESSON 77 W You are entitled to miracles because of what you are which is God s beloved Son. 2 You will receive miracles because of what God is. 3 And you will offer miracles because you, God s Son, are one with God. 4 Again, how simple is salvation! 5 Salvation is merely a statement of your true Identity that you are one with God. 6 Your true Identity as God s Son is that you are one with God and that is what we will celebrate today. W Your claim to miracles does not lie in your ego s illusions about yourself. 2 Your claim to miracles does not depend on any magical powers you have egoically ascribed to yourself, nor on any of the rituals your ego has devised. 3 Your claim to miracles is inherent in the truth of what you are as God s Son. 4 Your claim to miracles is implicit in what God your Father is which is only love. 5 Your claim to miracles was ensured in your creation, and guaranteed by the laws of God. W Today we will claim the miracles which are your right, since miracles belong to you. 2 You have been promised full release from the egoic world of separation and limitation you made. 3 You have been assured that the Kingdom of God is within you, and that the Kingdom of God can never be lost. 4 We ask no more than what belongs to us in truth. 5 Today, however, we will also make sure that we will not content ourselves with less than the Kingdom of God that is our birthright in truth. W Begin the longer practice periods by telling yourself quite confidently that you are entitled to miracles. 2 Closing your eyes, remind yourself that you are asking only for what is rightfully yours. 3 Remind yourself also that miracles are never taken from one and given to another, and that in asking for your right to miracles, you are upholding the rights to miracles for everyone. 4 Miracles do not obey the laws of this world. 5 Miracles merely follow from the laws of God. W After this brief introductory phase, wait quietly for the assurance that your request is granted. 2 You have asked for the salvation of the world, and for your own salvation. 3 You have requested that you be given the means by which miracles and salvation are accomplished. 4 You cannot fail to be assured in this. 5 You are but asking that the Will of God be done. W In asking that the Will of God be done, you do not really ask for anything. 2 You state a fact that cannot be denied. 3 The Holy Spirit cannot but assure you that your request is granted. 4 The fact that you accepted must be so. There can be no doubt that the Will of God is done 5 There is no room for doubt and uncertainty today. 6 We are asking a real question at last. 7 The answer is a simple statement of a simple fact that the Will of God must be done. 8 You will receive the assurance that you seek. W Our shorter practice periods will be frequent, and will also be devoted to a reminder of a simple fact. 2 Tell yourself often today:

2 3 I am entitled to miracles. 4 Ask for miracles whenever a situation arises in which miracles are called for. 5 You will recognize these situations in which miracles are called for. 6 And since you are not relying on your ego s little s self to find the miracle, you are fully entitled to receive the miracle whenever you ask. W Remember, too, not to be satisfied with less than the perfect answer. 2 Be quick to tell yourself, should you be tempted: 3 I will not trade miracles for grievances. 4 I want only what belongs to me. 5 God has established miracles as my right. I am entitled to miracles. Notes to Lesson # 77 Lesson77 is I am entitled to miracles. So let s all meet at the swimming pool and practice walking on water. Is that what this lesson is really telling us? You are entitled to miracles because of what you are. What you are in truth is a Child of God. You will receive miracles because of what God is. What is God? God is only love. God is only Truth with a capital T. You will offer miracles because you are one with God which means you also are only love and that only Truth with a capital T is real. In regards to miracles, it says that miracles do not obey the laws of this world. Miracles merely follow the laws of God. So what is a miracle for ACIM purposes? It is not the ability to walk on water or change water into wine. A miracle has nothing to do with the physical world. Instead, a miracle is simply a change in your perception. A miracle occurs whenever there is a shift within someone s mind from fear-based thinking to the thought system of love and forgiveness. When someone reacts with fear and you are able to respond with love, a miracle occurs. To an outside observer, there may or may not be any visible change in the physical world. Yet, there always is a change within the mind of the receiver. When you ask for guidance, you will see things differently. The Holy Spirit will change false perception into correct perception. Correct perception reflects the truth of who you really are. You reinterpret the event through the eyes of love and forgiveness and drop the ego s fear-based story.

3 This reinterpretation is basically a reframing of the story. Rather than follow the fearful thought system of the ego, you choose to follow the thought system of the Holy Spirit. Instead of misinterpreting what happened through your ego s beliefs, you correctly apply the laws of God to the event with the help of the Holy Spirit. By correctly applying God s laws to the event, instead of holding a grievance, you gain a miracle. You have correctly applied the laws of God by utilizing the vision of Christ. You are choosing to see through the eyes of forgiveness and love. In time and space, the laws of cause and effect appear to control destiny. There is first a cause which is then followed by a reaction or effect. Science says that for every action, there is an equal and corresponding reaction. All the great religions also reference this law of cause and effect. Some of our most popular sayings mirror this idea. What you reap, you will sow. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Do onto others what you would have them do onto you. Like begets like. Hinduism calls the law of cause and effect simply karma. In the West, karma has been misunderstood by many to mean that if I harm somebody that other person will eventually harm me. Certainly in this world, revenge is used as an excuse for many people s inappropriate actions. But is this how it really works? If I harm my brother, am I doomed to suffer the same negative consequences from the hands of my brother? Lesson 76 says. I am under no laws but God s. Although we have not discussed what God s laws are, even in time and space, God s laws do apply. We just fail to understand them and misapply them to what we experience. This misapplication occurs when we follow the thought system of fear. The thought system of fear teaches that our experiences come from outside our mind and our thoughts are the result of those outside experiences. God s law tells us that our mind s thoughts or beliefs are the cause and that the experiences that follow are the effect of our mind. Your own mind is always the cause, not some outside power that is beyond your control. The fear-based thought system realizes that experiences come from someplace, but it misassigns where the responsibility lies and fails to recognize the true cause. Grievances arise from the idea that someone needs to do something to make you happy or save you. It misassigns the cause of your happiness to your outside world rather than your own mind. A miracle simply applies the laws of God to your ego s story and correctly applies those laws to align with the truth.

4 In this world of time and space, there are no victims nor victimizers, only willing participants. No one has the ability to rob you of your inner peace unless you choose to allow it. Although you may not be in 100% control of all the circumstances that occur in your life, you are always in control of how you choose to interpret your events. You get to write the story. You also have the ability to edit the script. In a miracle, you allow the Holy Spirit to re-cut the film to correctly reflect the laws of God to the event itself. A foundational law of God is that to give is to receive. Our ego fails to understand this law applies and instead believes that you only give to get. The ego believes that when you give something, you can get something that is different from what you gave. But in time and space, the laws of God still apply. You cannot receive something different from what you are giving. But your ego misunderstands what you are really giving. The ego believes that if you give a big enough diamond ring, you can buy someone s affection or loyalty. In this example, the ego mistakes what you are giving. It mistakes form for content. What you are giving is your fear-based belief that love can be earned or bought. What you receive is that same belief that love can be earned or bought. You give a form of fear that we call conditional love and you receive the same fear back. In the physical world, we believe that the laws of God do not apply because we mistake form for content. The laws of God always apply but we just fail to understand or misapply them. Once again, let s look at God s law that to give is to receive. When you give your fearful thoughts to the world, your fearful thoughts are reflected back to you as a fearful world. When you give an illusion, you receive an illusion. When you attack another, you attack yourself. When you forgive another, you forgive yourself. When you see another as a body, you see yourself as a body. A miracle simply corrects the ego s misperception of the laws of God. It takes the ego story and re-edits the story so that it properly aligns with the laws of God. The miracle allows the Holy Spirit to take a dream that was seen through fearful eyes and view that same dream through the eyes of love and forgiveness. What the Holy Spirit s reframing does is break the cycle of giving and receiving the illusion of fear. Remember, fear is false evidence appearing real. The Holy Spirit knows that all illusions have no ability to change the truth of who you are. It takes an illusion of fear and gives back an illusion of love and forgiveness. The miracle breaks the cycle of fear-based thinking.

5 The miracle or the Holy Spirit s story is still a story. It is part of the dream of reawakening and therefore, is not real. But it does lead to the reawakening of sleeping minds. It still belongs in the world of perception but now misperception has been changed to correct perception. Correct perception aligns with the truth and that leads to the end of fear and the reawakening to the truth. A miracle occurs when you choose to exchange a grievance for true forgiveness. Remember that a grievance arises when you believe that someone s actions are needed to save or make you happy. When they fail to perform according to your ego s plan, a grievance is born. Question: A miracle is simply a change in your perception from fear to love. It occurs within the mind and is not necessarily observable in the physical world.
