2 LISTINGS of Individual Articles NOTE: Key quotes and/or summaries are given for some articles. Others will be added later. Cameroon Baptist Convention: NOTE: It has not been the intent of the NABC Heritage Center to acquire complete holdings of the periodicals published by the Cameroon Baptist Convention. Those that have come to the Heritage Center have been archived and are representative of those years. (1) Baptist Voice, The Year Month Title of Article and Brief Notes/Quotes Sep: A Brief History of the Cameroons Baptist Convention by Samuel B. Nfomi. Organized the 21 st September 1954 at Befreng, Bamenda The Cameroon Baptist Convention is a voluntary fellowship of Baptist Churches for the purpose of unified efforts in the strengthening and extending of the cause of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Cameroons Plans about the Incorporation have been completed Dedication and Cornerstone Laying at Mbem by the Editor. Solomon Jimnda led the big cheering precession from the old to the new church building dedication message brought by Pastor J.C. Basizekc preached as if it were his last chance to preach Cornerstone speech by Rev. Strauss in his way of simplicity gently drove into every listener, God s precious Word Brother T. Kwenchi, with all possible emphasis and clarity, reminded the Mbem Christians to use the house as a house of prayer. Other speakers: Mrs. Langwa, Mambila; Pa Evangelist Jam, Belo; Pastor Nshinf, Belo, and our sister, Miss M. Kuhn, who had been what we rightly call, the impelling force behind this great work done for God s glory. What of Our Girls? by Miss L.E. Luma. The woman is the backbone of the family. While the Head of the family advances proportionately, the backbone must advance proportionately too, to gain a balance Three hundred Baptist churches in the Southern Cameroons could only boast of about 11 Baptist girls in colleges and nursing or midwifery schools Headmasters [of primary schools] - Have you encouraged and arranged that your Standard 5 & 6 [last 2 grades in primary school] girls take a college, training centre or midwifery centre at Banso?... Christ is all Sufficient but. By J.G. Jato, Sub-Treasury, Victoria. All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give. This hymn, like many others is sung by professing Christians without carefully thinking about the significance of the words. If we really have completely surrendered to Christ as the words state, then He must be in complete control of our lives It is depressing to note that some professing Christians claim that Christ s power has reached its limits. They estimate that they need some extra hidden protector. This supposed protector is conveniently kept under clothing, body, inside pockets, bedrooms, inside boxes where, as they assume, nobody sees; whereas all things are open and naked to Christ. This so called harmless custom is harmful enough to dethrone Christ from the throne of our heart Oct: Nov. Baptist Church Founded at Big Bekondo by Joseph Achu, Nso, C.B.M. School, New Bekondo, As from last year, 1959, H/M [Head Master] M.E. Meriki has made several friendly visits to people at upper Bekondo and spoke to those that he met about the good news of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Among those he visited and spoke to were ten Baptist Christians, who have been out of fellowship with the Church. Services are being conducted in Mr. Zacharia Mosongo s house. The group has been growing gradually. They are now 30 in number A place to build a church house has been cleared and it is hoped that the church house should be up before the middle of October. Attending the C.B.C. Sessions (Kumbo-Banso) by Samuel B. Nfomi, Executive Secretary of C.B.C. It is obvious that you have been praying and planning to attend the C.B.C. sessions at Banso in December. So let us have some hints. Kunbo-Banso is one of the Grasslands largest and thickly populated towns. It is located between mile 64 and 65 Bamenda-Ndu road. Its modern weekly market is worthy of mentioning. It is the largest and most beautifully build in the Southern Cameroons at the present time. The Roman Catholic Church building occupies a small hill in the centre of the town, overlooking all the surrounding villages of Kumbo. The town is greatly influenced by the Catholics. Because of such a Catholic strong influence, the common daily greeting of the Nsaw people is: God bless you. (Nyui sr wo) Travel: Delegates, travel light. Avoid carrying or taking many belongings with you. The moment you leave your hand-boxes or bags loose, the same might attract some smart boys who will take it free of charge. Then it will be too late May: Tremendous Impression by R. Schilke, General Secretary of North American Baptists. It is a great delight to me to come back to the Cameroons for second visit after more than six
3 years. The ten days spend here in visiting the various stations, churches and schools have given me a tremendous impression of the great advance and growth of the Kingdom in your midst Our churches in America and Canada send greetings to the churches in the Cameroons. Our people rejoice when they hear about the many blessings of God so marvelously revealed in this land of Cameroons Jun: A Parting Reminder Bro. Gebauer [Long-time Field Secretary returning home for the last time] Dear Fellow Believers, That which I quoted for our missionaries as a parting reminder I would repeat for you as your past and your future: Our fight is not against organizations and powers that are spiritual. We are up against the unseen power that controls this dark world and spiritual agents from the very headquarters of evil. Therefore we must wear the whole armour of God that we may be able to resist evil and its day of power. Yours in His service, Paul Gebauer. Nov. Baptist Bible Training Centre by George W. Lang. On Sunday, 19 th November 1961, the Commencement Service of the Baptist Bible Training Centre will be held at the Ndu Church. Ten students will be passing out at that time. Their names are: 1. David Ndze 2. Samuel Nganta 3. George Wah 4. Matthew Jimnda 5. Peter Ngwang 6. Enoch Shei 7. Joseph Kilil 8. Emmanuel Nji 9. Moses Ishi 10. James Nji. If you are without a church teacher, it is well that you make contact with these men as soon as possible. Submitted by Principal B.B.T.C., Ndu George W.
