Dear Family of Radio Maria, As children of one Heavenly Mother, it is easy to see why we call ourselves a family at Radio Maria. This New Year s Day is a Solemnity in her honor. It is also a world day of prayer for PEACE. And so, we honor her with the title Queen of Peace as well. Mary is the Mother of God and therefore our Mother too. She is a mother who brings peace to our families and to our world when we trust her and listen to her maternal guidance for our lives. Her counsel is always the one she gave to servants at Cana: Do whatever He tells you. (John 2:5). Mary, His Mother, always brings us to her Son, who is the Prince of Peace. We also celebrate His Holy Name on Jan. 3, His Epiphany on Jan. 5 and His Baptism on Jan. 12. As we honor our Holy Mother, we can never fail to honor Her Son. Here at Radio Maria, we try to honor her by carrying out the mission for the New Evangelization that she has entrusted to us. That means bringing the Apostolic Exhortation Joy of the Gospel to increasing numbers of people in ever new and effective ways. As Pope Francis writes at the end of his Apostolic Exhortation The Joy Of the Gospel: There is a Marian style to the Church s work of evangelization. Whenever we look to Mary, we come to believe once again in the revolutionary nature of love and tenderness..we implore her maternal intercession that the Church may become a home for many peoples, a mother for all peoples, and that the way may be opened to the birth of a new world. It is the Risen Christ who tells us, with a power that fills us with confidence and unshakeable hope: Behold, I make all things new (Rev. 21:5). With Mary we advance confidently towards the filfilment of this promise, and to her we pray: Star of the new evangelization, Help us to bear radiant witness to communion, Service, ardent and generous faith, Justice and love of the poor, That the joy of the Gospel may reach to the ends of the earth, Illuminating even the fringes of our world. With a motherly love and a motherly patience I am looking at your ceaseless wandering and how lost you are. That is why I am with you. I desire to help you to first find and come to know yourself, so that, then, you would be able to recognize and to admit everything that does not permit you to get to know the love of the Heavenly Father, honestly and wholeheartedly. My children, the Father comes to be known through the cross. Therefore, do not reject the cross. Strive to comprehend and accept it with my help. When you will be able to accept the cross you will also understand the love of the Heavenly Father; you will walk with my Son and with me; you will differ from those who have not come to know the love of the Heavenly Father, those who listen to Him but do not understand Him, those who do not walk with Him - who have not come to know Him. I desire for you to come to know the truth of my Son and to be my apostles; that, as children of God, you may rise above the human way of thinking and always, and in everything, seek God s way of thinking, anew. My children, pray and fast that you may be able to recognize all of this which I am seeking of you. Pray for your shepherds and long to come to know the love of your Heavenly Father, in union with them. Thank you. December 25, 2013 Message to Marija Dear children! I am carrying to you the King of Peace that He may give you His peace. You, little children, pray, pray, pray. The fruit of prayer will be seen on the faces of the people who have decided for God and His Kingdom. I, with my Son Jesus, bless you all with a blessing of peace. 2 Winners of Immaculate Conception Sweekstakes announced Winners of the 2013 Radio Maria Sweepstakes were drawn Dec. 9 during an Open House and a live broadcast at the Alexandria station. Carol Masuga from Green Bay, Wisc, won the first place prize of a trip to (choice of) Holy Land or Medjugorie; Sue Crochet from Lake Charles, La., won the second place prize of $1,000; and Walter Wysocki from Armstrong Creek, Wisc, won the third place prize of $500. On behalf of Radio Maria and the World Family of Radio Maria, I wish to personally thank all of you who purchased tickets for the Immaculate Conception Sweepstakes, said Father Robert Young, program director. Even if you were not one of the lucky people who won these fab- ulous prizes, we are all winners here today for having supported this worthy cause of evangelization through Radio Maria. In a prepared statement aired on Radio Maria a few weeks after the drawing, first place winner Masuga said that although she was not an avid listener of Radio Maria in the past, she would definitely be listening to Radio Maria much more now. Masuga is active in several Catholic ministries in Wisconsin and very active in her faith. Before her mother passed away, she promised her mother that if she were ever fortunate enough to go to the Holy Land, she would offer up the trip in her memory. I am so happy to have the opportunity to go to the Holy Land, she said. I know that the knowledge and first hand experiences of the trip will be a great asset to me and my ministries when I return. The two winners of the cash prizes were also elated to learn they had won. After talking to both winners, I learned that both winners had experienced difficult times this past year. It s comforting to know that Our Lady blessed these two winners for a reason. The Radio Maria sweepstakes was open for entries from June - October, During a live broadcast on Radio Maria, the three names were drawn by Will and Nia Passman, and Bailey Domzalski. All proceeds from the sweepstakes went to Radio Maria. RADIO MARIA SWEEPSTAKES DRAWING. The day begins with a Meet and Greet at 10 a.m. followed by lunch and a special presentation by Mr. Malandri, who is a professional fund-raiser. He will be sharing with us some principles of promotion and fund-raising which can then be implemented on our local levels within our respective listening areas. It will also be a happy occasion for us to re-new our family ties and share ideas on how to help Our Lady s Radio reach many more listeners. We especially wish to invite any new volunteers to join us to learn about Radio Maria and how they can participate in this great Mission of the New Evangelization. Comments from Listeners I recently discovered your program on Radio Maria. Thanks for taking the time to do this program, and to tell your story. I am a 43 yr. old man who was raised Lutheran, but has Catholic roots as well. I currently attend and am active in my local (Episcopal) church down the street. I came across Radio Maria while looking up information on Our Lady, who I ve always been drawn to. I look forward to downloading more of your programs! I do a lot of driving for my job, so good podcasts are a treasure. (The news is way too depressing, and political talk not my thing at all). I came across the Radio Maria show some months ago and only recently started sampling other podcasts. What caught my eye about your podcast initially was the intriguing title. I can only ask you to believe me when I say I m not flattering you, but I was instantly won over by your obvious sincerity and easy manner.
