1 Mothers of Prayer Intl Newsletter Mothers of Prayer Intl United Pentecostal Church International Ladies Ministries May 2014 It has been my goal and vision since I was first asked to start this newsletter that it be available in various languages. God is opening many doors and this newsletter is now available in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Greek, Arabic, Farsi, Czech, Chinese, Swahili, and Hungarian with more coming soon. Also, Reverend Don Hanscom is working to translate into Urdu, Hindi, Thai, Tamil, Sinhalese and Laotian! So under the direction of Sister Gwyn Oakes, UPCI Ladies Ministries President, to better represent our mission of prayer for our children around the world, going forward we will be known as Mothers of Prayer Intl. Since 1999: Mothers of Prayer Intl. is made up of women worldwide, who meet on the first Monday of each month to unite in focused prayer for their children and the children of the local church and community. Our Mission... We are committed to the spiritual preservation of this generation and beyond and the spiritual restoration of previous generations. Our Need... Committed women who will join together on the first Monday of each month and pray focused prayer for their children. Three Priorities of Prayer The salvation of our children (Isaiah 49:25; Psalm 144:12; Isaiah 43:5-6). 2. That they take ownership of the faith at an accountable age (I John 2:25-28; James 1:25). 3. That they enter into the ministry of the Lord's harvest (Matthew 9:38). The Power of Your Words By Dianna Tuttle People who tag children with names like: monster, trouble, and holy terror sow wrong seeds into young lives. Let us rather call them intelligent, caring, God's gift. Emphasize when they share, are polite, kind and obedient. In time, children take on the character traits we assign them by the words we use. Words of affirmation, love, criticism or ridicule: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue". (Proverbs 18:21) The call to be a missionary for a nine-year-old Holy Ghost filled girl, was very real. The burden was strong to reach lost souls as a missionary. Tears flowed as the Lord gently nudged her toward a missionary call. Words of encouragement from her mother were: "Love Jesus with all your heart. Live for Him every day; always be willing to go wherever He wants you to go." With love and prayerful instruction, the words fitly spoken and the words of affirmation from godly parents helped to guide me through the years.

In their teen years, young people seek to find where they fit. Words of encouragement are needed. When wrong choices are made, use kind words of correction seasoned with a prayerful spirit.

Instead of angry words of criticism, affirm them in what was done correctly. Put emphasis on correct behavior. Words help children understand who they are and what they represent. Children can become faithful servants of the Lord. "A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit." (Proverbs 15:17) One day while we were gone from the house, two neighbor girls got into our shed where the pet rabbit was. When it was discovered what the girls had done, their parents became involved. One gave no correction at all. The other parents brought their daughter to our house to apologize, clearly stating breaking in was wrong and retribution must come. The week following, she spent time alone in her room after school. Both came from non-christian homes, but each with a different set of values. One gave positive correction; the other gave no correction. The one became a respectable young lady with good morals, and an asset to society. The other became involved in drugs and a liability to society. Speak good things into the lives of children. Make this your prayer: "Set a guard, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips". (Psalm 141:3) Note: Dianna Tuttle is mother of two children, grandmother of five, soon to be six. She and her husband were involved in ministry in the Oregon district of the UPCI before relocating to Europe. From they served as AIM Missionaries to Germany. In 1984 they were appointed Missionaries to The Netherlands. Currently they serve the Europe Middle East Region as the Regional Director for the United Pentecostal Church International, where Sister Tuttle also serves as the Europe Middle East Ladies Ministries Coordinator. Your Words Have Power By Anita Harding What would life be like without words?does anxiety fill your heart when you dwell on this question for very long? Mine sure does. Everyday I use words. I simply cannot live without them. I use words to express my happiness, sadness, affection, thankfulness, and so much more. As a child, my mom would read words to me out of a storybook. As she read each story, the words would come alive to me. I wonder sometimes if that is where I get my huge imagination. Many times I would drift off to sleep with her words ringing in my ears. Words spoken to me as a child truly formed who I am today. There is nothing sweeter than words of love, encouragement, comfort and praise from those close to your heart. "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth" (Psalm 119:103). Most importantly I remember hearing words of prayer in our home. When my parents began to pray, a hush would always fill the room. It wasn't long until our words would turn into a heavenly language. It was during these times I learned the true power of prayer.

3 "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive" (Matthew 21:22). It was in our home that I learned to love the Word of God. It was very common for words from the Bible to be quoted over situations that would come up in our family. The more I read from the Bible, the more I fell in love with Jesus. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105). Now, as I look into the eyes of my GRANDchildren, it seems I can see a little twinkle of my parents in their eyes. I feel their presence when I watch my GRANDchildren sing and worship. Memories of my own son and daughter receiving the Holy Ghost and being baptized in Jesus' name flood my heart. Watching them train their children in the ways of the Lord, as I did them, is the joy of my life. I wonder...have I bottled up enough words in prayer to last from generation to generation? This thought bends me to my knees every day in prayer. I must speak words in prayer over my family. I can't miss a day without calling their names in prayer. Their eternity depends upon it! Words of Prayer are Powerful By Tiffini Countaway "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!" Ever said those words? Or had them said to you? Words created our world, shaped our beliefs, made the broken whole, breathed life into death, and promised us a future. Words communicate love and hate, negative and positive, direction and instruction-they are a part of our every day. We can't escape words, and the most important words we speak are our prayers. Prayers are words spoken in passion, desperation, frustration, humility, adoration, thankfulness, and so many other emotion and they are powerful. What you speak over your children is vital and can change the course of their life. Choosing the right words to speak over them when you pray is probably the most significant thing you will do each day. Be specific, positive, confident, hopeful, and unwavering in your prayers for your children. Open your Bible and speak scripture over their lives. Ask the Lord what you should pray over them because He created them, adores them, and is the only one that can save their soul. Ultimately the most powerful words you can speak over your children are, 'Not my will, Lord, but yours." These will be the hardest words you will speak but they are the most perfect.
