Outcome from Last Lesson That you will understand that kingdom wisdom comes by knowing the Word of God and daily applying it to your life, which has been given to us by God for instruction in every aspect of life. It is the interaction in life with the Word; Jesus Christ which produces godly wisdom. Revision from Last Lesson What revelations did you receive from meditating on Proverbs 9:10? Read 1 Corinthians 1:20 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? Where is wisdom in this world? Is it found in strong public speakers or great negotiators or world renowned counselors? These people have what is known as worldly wisdom and God has made this worldly wisdom foolishness. Real wisdom comes from God, He has revealed His wisdom to you in His Word. This wisdom, when applied to your life, will help in your walk with Jesus. The Word The Word of God was written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit. They are the words of God to His children. The Word of God to you is wisdom; godly wisdom, which will prosper you in this life if you abide by His Word. Read Deuteronomy 4:5-6; 29:9 Deuteronomy 4:5-6 Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. 6 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. Deuteronomy 29:9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. Q. How do we achieve godly wisdom from the Word of God and how does His wisdom help us? Page 1 of 8

2 A. If we act according to the commands of God and carefully observe and study them, applying them to our lives daily we will achieve godly wisdom. Once we are keeping His commandments and have achieved godly wisdom we will prosper in everything we do. His wisdom guides us. Read Psalm 119:105 Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Q. How can God s Word be a light to our path? A. God s Word is full of wisdom and it is this godly wisdom that guides you to make wise decisions that will light up your life on this faith pathway. If you apply God s Word in your life, your path will be revealed. Read 2 Timothy 3:15 2 Timothy 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Q. What made Timothy wise to receive salvation? A. In Paul s words; the Holy Scriptures which is the Word of God. Read Joshua 1:8 Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Reading, meditating and applying the Word of God in your life will bring forth godly wisdom so you can prosper in all you do, make wise decisions and see the path before you. This is God s desire for you; to be successful in your life by discovering His wisdom that is found in the Holy Scriptures. The Word and Who it is Read John 1:1-5, 14 John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Q. Who is the Word according to the Scriptures? A. The only begotten of the Father, who is Jesus. Q. Who is Jesus to men? Page 2 of 8

3 A. He is life and light that darkness will never be able to comprehend or defeat. In John 1:5 (NKJV), the word comprehend is the Greek work katalambanō (ka-ta-lam-ba-no). This word means: To take hold of, to obtain, to make one s own, to overtake. So when John 1:5 says that darkness did not comprehend the light, it means that darkness has no power over the light, spiritual darkness cannot take it or have victory over the light of Jesus; the Word of God. Read John 8:12; 14:6, John 13:34-35, Colossians 3:16 John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Q. Who chooses life, instead of death? Who chooses light, instead of darkness? Who chooses truth, instead of lies? Who chooses to know the way, instead of being lost? Who chooses good, instead of evil? Who chooses love, instead of hatred? Who chooses wisdom, instead of foolishness? A. A wise person on all accounts. Read John 15:7 John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[a] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. Jesus is the Word and if you abide in the Word and let the Word abide in you and follow the commands of Jesus, you will walk in godly wisdom. You will receive life, light, truth, goodness, love, wisdom and will know the way. The reward for walking in godly wisdom is that anything you ask for, you will receive. Kingdom Wisdom Read Matthew 7:24-27 and 2 Samuel 22:47 Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. 2 Samuel 22:47 The Lord live! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, The Rock of my salvation! Page 3 of 8

4 Q. How can you be wise and build yourself upon the rock so that the tribulations and trials of life do not knock you down? A. By obeying and doing what Jesus commands and asks you to do. This brings wisdom into your life. Q. Who is the Solid Rock? A. The Rock is Jesus. So if you do what Jesus commands you to do, and you let His words penetrate your life and heart and abide in His words and let the Word abide in you, you will be the wise person who builds their house on the Rock (Jesus). Nothing that life or this world throws at you will ever knock you down. Wisdom is the key to living a successful Christian life and wisdom comes from the Word and by applying Him and obeying Him in your life every day. The Spirit s Wisdom Below is what someone wrote to show how God s wisdom helps in this world: His wisdom is what brings us understanding in this world of confusing messages. His wisdom is what helps us to see in the darkness of this world. His wisdom is what helps us to see if something is true or false. His wisdom illuminates our minds to deception and danger. His wisdom see s the trap of the enemy and exposes it to us. His wisdom guides us down the narrow path of life. His wisdom tells us we are in the right when many others say we are in the wrong. Q. Discuss what fruit of the Spirit will grow more in you as you abide in the Word of God? A. Lifegroup s answers. 5 Conclusion If you read the Word of God and keep His commands and instructions; if you follow Him and abide in Him and allow Him to abide in you; if you apply the Word of God in your life; if you wholeheartedly yield to Him in everything you do, then godly wisdom will flow into your life (this comes without any effort from yourself) and you might not even notice it but it will be evident in your life because everything you set to do will prosper and every choice you need to make will be the right choice. You can only find and receive godly wisdom from the Word of God. Feedback on the Lesson What have you learnt from this lesson on the Word of God being the source of wisdom? I pray that as we search and meditate Your Word and start to obey and apply it in our lives that we will start to see Your wisdom at work in our lives. Jesus we want Your wisdom; godly wisdom and not the wisdom of this world. We need kingdom wisdom in our lives. Thank You for Your Word and the wisdom in those words. We thank You with all our hearts.
