1 Sunday Morning Adult Classes Fall 2016 Time Class Leader Location Pastor Doug, Hiller Hall Pastor Jeffrey (Nov 13-Dec 11) Growing in Christ offers lessons and Bible stories for the whole family. Every level focuses on the same topics taught in age appropriate ways. This approach encourages growing in faith as a family by allowing each member to discuss what they learn in Sunday School. It helps reinforce the lesson for everyone! New Member Basics : If you are interested in exploring membership at Holy Cross and are a confirmed Lutheran, this class is for you. (At the end of this class, on December 18th, you will be taken into membership at the 9:30 am service.) Prayers from The War : If you have seen the compelling drama, The War, you will love this Bible study based on the movie. Participants will have a greater understanding of how to pray and the power of prayer. The Lutheran Difference: This CPH Bible study compares the differences and similarities between the LCMS doctrine and other religions. Many Lutherans have learned the doctrines of the Church; this class explores the scriptural foundation for LCMS beliefs. 11:00 a.m. The Book of Acts: Just before his ascension Jesus said, "and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8b Come, join us and learn how Peter, Paul and all Jesus' disciples were witnesses for Jesus in obedience to his last command. In The End of Me, Kyle Idleman explores these difficult moments by looking at four of the beattitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. In the first section of the book, each chapter will focus on a different paradoxical teaching of Christ. In the second half, you'll look at real-life examples of people who have lived the upside-down life that Jesus describes. Only when you come to the end of yourself will you begin to be transformed into the whole, blessed person God made you to be. Aha: The God Moment that Changes Everything: We've all had "aha!" moments in our lives, times when a sudden revelation surprises us with insight. We can experience this same kind of "aha!" in our spiritual lives. Our world couldn t exits without it. It covers our planet and fills our bodies. It keeps us alive. Jesus knew how important water was. Maybe that s why he called himself the Living Water. He was making a claim and an offer too good to ignore. H2O is about water, the Living Water, Jesus said he offered. If you re thirsty, you owe it to yourself to consider what He said and who He is. What keeps us from truly following Jesus is that our hearts are pursuing something or someone else. Behind the sin you re struggling with, the discouragement you re dealing with, the lack of purpose you re living with is a false god that is winning the war for your heart.

6 GodConnects: An adult confirmation course for those considering membership at Holy Cross and are NOT a confirmed Lutheran. GodConnects teaches the foundation of Christian faith. Lutheranism 101: This course is required for people who are new to the Lutheran Church and wish to become members of Holy Cross, or a great refresher course for current members. This class will run January 17 March 20. If you are interested in attending this class, please contact the church office to sigh up so we have materials for everyone.
