He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Trinity Messenger April Number 4 The Pomme de Terre river opened up over this last week. I ve been watching every morning and evening. We ve all been wondering in my family when it will finally flow freely. At first there was just water on the surface, then open areas on the edges, and finally a large opening from the bridge by hwy. 28 and 59, that ran freely south down to the bridge by hwy For a few days, that was the only opening. For the three days that it was in the process of melting, geese and ducks had been arriving in increasing numbers. Their noise was welcome in the cool evenings and mornings as the rest of the incoming birds were also raising their own ruckus. I watched as groups of ducks and geese scouted out the valley east of Morris. They flew in from all directions. Approaching the opening in the river, a group would circle, then fly off south, come back, fly off north, and then return again. After four or five circles, the group would finally come in for their landing, splashing down a respectful distance from other groups already arrived. I didn t see one flight group come in and just say to themselves, Hey, open water! Let s land. Nope. Every time it was: go take a look around - and then finally settle on this spot (which was the only option.) It s a nice stretch of river. I don t know why all these birds felt the need to keep looking, keep circling. Occasionally one of the birds or two would set up for landing early, leaving their small flock. But then, as they descended, I saw them looking back, their compatriots unsure, and they would return to the group and circle some more. Are you a safe stretch of water? For others? For your family? For your friends? When others approach you, can the eventually settle in, rest in your presence? Are they safe with you? Can they trust you and rely on you? How about our faith community? Many seek God. Many feel that gap in their souls that desires God s presence, but just like the waterfowl, they circle. They look upriver and down. Sometimes they might be brave and approach, but then retreat. Even when there are no other options obvious to them. When they do arrive, they often will sit on their own, giving a respectful distance to the other folks. And we, used to our flock, used to our neighbors, end up sitting with the folks we usually sit with. We might not even notice that we are excluding others. How can we be a safe and inviting oasis of rest and soul nourishment to Cyrus and our wider community? Are you and open and inviting person on your own? In community? Are you circling yourself? Wondering if you can actually rest in God? Look at all the ruckus the other flock members make. Are they safe? This month I pray that we can continue to invite and welcome those looking for a place to rest, seek God, and find that soul nourishment they need. Christ s Peace - PrCR Trinity Messenger April 2019

Pastor Chris gave devotions on Psalms 90 and 91. For lack of a forum, no formal motions were made. The Treasurer s report was reviewed. Pastor s report was given. Old Business None New Business Request mowing bids for Cemeteries and Church Lawn. Bids for spraying will be an additional bid for The bids will be opened, reviewed, and awarded at the April Council Meeting. 3 TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH MOWING & SPRAYING BIDS FOR 2019 The Properties Committee of the Trinity Church Council reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids for mowing and spraying of church lawn and cemeteries, for the 2019 mowing. Bid forms provided by the church must be used or bid may be rejected. A proof of insurance may be required.
