ONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS All Brothers and sisters in hrist, we live in a world that is held in bondage to sin and death. We have experienced the truth of it in our own lives. The tempter is always misleading us, and our sinful natures are only too ready to give in. Today we celebrate the victory of our Lord Jesus over the tempter. Because Jesus won the victory, we are able to come before God in faith and freedom, acknowledging our sin, and trusting that through Jesus hrist, our Lord we, too, enjoy victory over the tempter and all he stands for. Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful, and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity. But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior, Jesus hrist, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

3 NIENE REED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus hrist, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin ary, and became fully human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. In this meal Jesus expresses his fellowship with us by giving us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. However, we cannot ask someone to express agreement with us until we give that person an opportunity to discover what we teach. HRISTEL STRUTZ The St. Paul s inistry Board has extended a call to rs. hristel Strutz to teach third grade in our elementary school. rs. Strutz currently serves as a third and fourth grade teacher at St. Paul s in udahy. Her husband, Randall, is a teacher and head coach of the varsity girls basketball team at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. rs. Strutz sent the following letter to the congregation in response to receiving our call: arch 2, 2019 Brothers and sisters in hrist, Through you, St. Paul s Lutheran hurch and School, I have received a Divine all to teach third grade in the upcoming school year. I am humbled in receiving this call, and thankful for the opportunity to consider how I can serve God in His kingdom. It is truly a blessing to be able to share God s Word with others through His ministry. As I deliberate this call, I ask that you keep my husband, Randy, and I in your prayers. In the next few weeks, I look forward to being in contact with St. Paul s and learning more about your church and school. I am trusting this is the decision the Lord has led me to and how He wants me to use my gifts at this time. We are looking at statements full of irony that were said during the passion, comments that surprise us because of who said them or that they have a meaning so different than what the speaker intended. Enjoy hearing from a guest preacher each of the remaining Wednesdays of Lent. ENJOY A SOUP SUPPER BETWEEN SERVIES ome enjoy a warm meal and camaraderie with your friends between our Wednesday Lenten services, 4:30 to 6:30 pm, in the Grace Room. A free will offering is gathered at the soup supper to help defray the cost of the food and to support the ministry of the hosting group. The St. Paul s Quilting Fellowship will be hosting this Wednesday s soup supper. QUILTING FELLOWSHIP TO HOST WEDNESDAY SOUP SUPPER St Paul's Quilting Fellowship has been serving the congregation for eleven years with the mission to provide quilts to those in need of comfort and hope. Over 450 quilts have been given to the homebound of the congregation, babies and moms of WELS Lutherans for Life, the VA Hospital, St Paul's Alzheimer's group, The uskego Taxi service, the uskego Woman's lub, and many cancer patients and survivors. Our two special outreach projects this past year include making "Little Dresses for Africa" which were delivered by the Wisconsin Lutheran ollege junior nursing students to schools in Lusaka, Zambia. In addition, twenty of our barbie doll quilts were donated during the hristmas season by the Wisconsin Woodworker's Guild who made the barbie doll sized beds. Any donations given at Wednesday's soup supper will be used toward quilting materials for the mission to continue. In addition, quilts will be on display and for sale with a $30 donation. The Quilting Fellowship meets the first Thursday of the month year-round. New members are always welcome. Start your time together by sharing the past week's highs and lows. What are your hopes for the month ahead? 2. This week's message is about temptation. We define temptations as "the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise." How would you describe a life without temptations? 3. Re-read the message text (Luke 4:1-13) and discuss how each of these three temptations still exists in our world today. How do they look or sound in your personal life or in society at large? 4. Pastor Nate reminds us of the old adage that says "the Devil is in the details." an you recall any other temptations of historic figures in scripture where the details, darkness, and lies proved to be too much for anyone other than Jesus? 5. Read Hebrews 4:15. Has there ever been a time in your life (or someone you know) that these words gave comfort and strength where there had previously been none? 6. Pastor Nate closed up his message with two steps that God encourages us to fight temptation with: 1) Take up the sword (of the Spirit) and 2) Trust the plan.
