What a tremendous privilege given to Christians to be able to call God our Father. Jesus taught His disciples to address God with a tenderness and intimacy that implied that we can actually refer to God as Daddy. After all, He created us; He sent His Son, to teach us how to live as a child of God here and now and to be our Savior. He showers us with blessings. He sends His Holy Spirit as Comforter and Counselor. Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. L: Our help is in the name of the Lord, C: who made heaven and earth. L: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, C: and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. 2 CONFESSION and ABSOLUTION L: O almighty God, merciful Father, C: I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. Lord of the Church, whose Word is power at work for all who call out to You in faith, guide and protect clergy and lay leaders here and around the world. Give them compassionate hearts, clear minds, appropriate words, and the wisdom to use them so that the Church grows stronger in faith and closer to You and one another in love. Lord, in Your mercy, C: hear our prayer.

7 L: Heavenly Father, giver of life and health and peace, open our hearts and minds to share Your bounty with one another, among our neighbors, and through the agencies of the Church and government, with any people in need. Raise up leaders in our nation and around the world so that poverty and hunger will be lessened and health and human dignity increased. Protect and guide all who order society across the globe, and give patience and resolve to forces deployed for peace across national borders. Lord, in Your mercy, C: hear our prayer. L: O Holy Spirit, who bestows precious gifts throughout the Church, open the eyes of Your people to see avenues of peace and reconciliation, paths of concord and joy. We remember our brothers and sisters who call out to You for healing of all sorts, [including...]. Use the talents You have placed in counselors, health-care workers, medical personnel, first responders, and all who are called to work as Your instruments of care. 10 10 COMMUNION INVITATION The Lord's Supper is celebrated at this congregation in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes. Because those who eat and drink our Lord's body and blood unworthily do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, are unclear on what all this means, or who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, are encouraged to seek guidance from the pastor. 15 MICAH S BACKPACK Thanks for the generous response to our request for restocking our shelves. They look much better. At this time, we have all the breakfast and dinner items we will need for several weeks. We currently need snacks, individual vegetables, and fruit. Thanks again. New Sunday Morning Coffee/Fellowship Times - The Fellowship committee has worked out a schedule for providing coffee and fellowship which we hope will accommodate the folks from all three services: On the FIRST Sunday of each month coffee and pastries will be 9:00 9:30 in the fellowship hall. On the THIRD Sunday it will be set up after the 11:00 service. We will see how this schedule works and adjust it as needed. OFFERING ENVELOPES 2018 offering envelopes are in your mailbox. Anyone who doesn t have envelopes and would like a box, see Mitzi Bowman Mailboxes: A continued warm welcome to all of our regular visitors! Concordia serves four states and provides three Worship Services every Sunday in addition to other Ministries and activities. Communication is a challenge! There are enough 15

16 mailboxes for everyone who desires a mailbox to have one. It is our most used form of giving and receiving communication. and Facebook are also used to help inform everyone of activities and events. Church Library News: The Church library has a link on Concordia's Church Website (Our Library) and now under that link has the main library catalogue divided under four headings; PreK-Kindergarten, Children/Youth, Adult Fiction and Adult Non Fiction. FOOD FOR THE POOR LUTHERAN COALITION: Don t forget! We continue to collect funds to help serve the poorest of the poor. $2 per week from all our member families would mean $10,000 to help alleviate their tremendous suffering. 16
