1 breakingthrough PRODUCT & PROJECT NEWS FROM nofrontiers MAY 2010 Please note our new phone number: A new partnership The last few months have been a period of considerable change for No Frontiers. We moved all our stock to a new warehouse in the north east of England, and we are now working in partnership with Open Door Trading. Open Door Trading (ODT) was established in October The directors of ODT Paul Mogford and Paul Catterall are both involved with a Teesside church-based charity called Open Door North East (ODNE), which exists to help house homeless failed asylum seekers in Teesside, and to help refugees as they settle into their new lives. Paul Mogford writes: There are about 250 homeless failed asylum seekers in Teesside. ODNE currently houses 15 such individuals some Christians, some Muslims and other religions and feeds up to 60 at our weekly drop in. As a result of its ministry and connection to Jubilee Church Teesside, we have seen six Muslims baptised in 2009, and at least 20 people on Alpha courses. A further 30 people have joined local churches. The ministry needs a lot of finance to keep going, much of which is supplied by a local church and local Christians but it is never enough. So Paul Mogford and Paul Catterall started a business called Open Door Trading to 1) create profit to donate to the charity specifically to help with the housing needs and 2) to create employment for refugees who are working for the first time in the UK. To date, we have managed to donate around 5000 over our trading period, and have employed several refugees. One lady from the Middle East worked for us for 3 years while she completed her law degree and is now in full time employment. We employed a nanotechnologist from Eritrea, and currently, we employ a computer expert, also from Eritrea. So what does Open Door Trading do? And how is it now involved with No Frontiers? Open Door has two real activities. One is that we pick, pack and ship Christian resources for Newfrontiers (a growing family of churches in the UK and abroad) from their retail web site: (not to be confused with the No Frontiers website which is: We also go to Christian events and create bookshops for the event, serving the event and the speakers that go there. Open Door Trading will pick your orders from stock, pack it and ship it out to you, wherever you are in the world! We are also working with UK Christian bookshops to sell foreign language Christian books and Bibles in the UK. It is very fitting that Open Door Trading and No Frontiers work together; as a result of economic migrants and refugee / asylum seekers coming to the UK, there are now many languages being spoken in the UK. Paul Mogford and Paul Catterall both attend Jubilee Church Teesside which has around 240 members of those around 50 come from non-english language groups, and there are 16 languages in the church. So the local church welcomes non-english language groups into the church, No Frontiers supplies the Christian resources in their own language that help them grow as Christians, and Open Door Trading does the physical work that helps house and employ people. We are so thrilled to now be a part of No Frontiers, and to be involved in its work. We are thankful to Kingsway for having supported such an excellent ministry, and we want to keep developing No Frontiers so that more people can grow in Christ and experience the gospel in their own language.
