Thanks Stewardship Board ANNUAL REPORT... The report has been completed and copies are displayed in the narthex. Please take a copy for your records-very informative and interesting report for Year Pastor Aaron Nitz What Jesus s Resurrection Means Jesus s resurrection from the dead is the KEY event in all history. It s proper for us to celebrate it every year and it s proper to have a mini celebration of Easter every Sunday. The reason the Christian church normally worships on Sunday is because Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday. Well, what does the resurrection mean? Romans 1:4 He (Jesus) was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead. - The resurrection proves that Jesus IS God! Romans 4:25 He (Jesus) was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. - The resurrection from the dead assures us that our sins are forgiven in full. It proves that we stand before God as innocent. Jesus s resurrection was God s way of saying that Good Friday worked; our sins have been paid for in full. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. - Jesus s resurrection proves to us that one day we too will physically, bodily be raised from the dead on the Last Day. Firstfruits was an offering that was made in the Old Testament that guaranteed more to follow. Jesus, as the first to rise from the dead, guarantees our own resurrection. John 2:19 Jesus answered them, Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days. Jesus told the Jews long before hand that he would die and rise again. And it happened...just like Jesus said! The resurrection proves that all of Jesus s words are true and trustworthy. This year as we celebrate the highlight of our year, Jesus s resurrection from the dead, I pray that you will be filled once again with an inexpressible and inextinguishable joy and peace because Jesus is risen from the dead. He is risen indeed! Pastor 3
4 MIDWEEK LENTEN SCHEDULE; 5:45 6:30 PM meal served 7:00 PM Lenten Worship April 5 Repent! Turn to Jesus when you face temptations ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ April 13 Maundy Thursday Communion Service 7 pm April 14 Good Friday Tenebrae Service 7 pm SUNDAY MORNING LENTEN SERVICES We are focusing on "The Oppositions of Lent." We all face oppositions in life somehow, someway. As we focus on these Sundays of Lent, Jesus faced the greatest oppositions in life to overcome and win them on our behalf. What grace! April 2, 2017 April 9, Opposition #5: Death vs Life - Opposition #6: Power vs Humility He s Risen! Christ Jesus our Lord! Sunrise service - 7 am Easter breakfast 8:15 am Worship service 10:30 am April-Healthy Thoughts From the Parish Nurses 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. I just heard on the news that the influenza is on the increase again. This always brings to my mind HAND WASHING. The best defense against germs like the influenza is good hand washing. When should you wash your hands? The one we think of most is before eating, also before, during, and after handling food. You should also wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose. After using the toilet or changing diapers is another good time. We should wash hands before and after caring for someone who is sick or treating a wound or cut. After feeding pets their food or treats or picking up their waste. After handling garbage is a good time to wash. Hand washing is important any time your hands are visibly dirty or greasy. Washing your hands only helps if you do it correctly so how should you wash your hands? 1) Wet your hands with clean running water (cold or hot doesn't matter) 2) Lather hands with soap by rubbing them together. You don't need much soap and it only helps to cut the grease. It is the friction that gets rid of the germs. 3) Scrub your hands at least 20 seconds (sing Happy Birthday through twice). Make sure you get the backs of your hands and between your fingers and under your nails. 4) Rinse under clean running water. 5) Air dry or dry with a clean towel. Washing is the best way to get your hands clean; but, if you don't have clean water, you can use hand sanitizer. Sanitizers don't eliminate all types of germs. In order for sanitizer to be effective, it must be at least 60% alcohol but 95% is better. Your hands must be wet with sanitizer for at least 30 seconds to kill the bacteria. To kill viruses the sanitizer should be over 90% alcohol. Sanitizers are ineffective on visibly dirty or greasy hands. "God and germs are everywhere so wash your hands and say your prayers". Your Sister in Christ, Donna 4 9
