Welcome we are glad you are here

In the spirit of reconciliation let us acknowledge our relationship with the Indigenous people of this land. We acknowledge that we are gathering for worship on the traditional lands of the First Nations and the homeland of the Metis. We are all Treaty people bound by the understandings made in the agreement known as Treaty Six.

Invitation to Worship

Arise, shine! Your light has come! Thanks be to God! In companionship with Jesus along the Way, we are transfigured. Hallelujah! Amen! Bathed in the light of Christ, we yearn for ever deeper connection: a communion rooted in love, braided together around the table, nourished by the wine of self-giving. Glory to God! Glory to God!

Opening Prayer

Jesus Christ, changer of the world, change us. Transform us, transfigure us. Make the passion for God that was in you shine also in us, as you mould us day by day into your disciples. Amen.

Listening for God s Word Luke 9:28-32

Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him.

They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. This is testimony from our ancestors in faith. Thanks be to God!

Prayer

Holy One, we pray: That when glory comes, we will open our eyes to see it. That when glory shows up, we will let ourselves be overcome not by fear but by the love it bears. That when glory shines, we will bring it back with us all the way, all the way, all the way down. [time for silent reflection]

Listening for God s Word Luke 9:33-36

Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud.

Then from the cloud came a voice that said, This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him! When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen. This is testimony from our ancestors in faith. Thanks be to God!

Litany

It is tempting to remain inside this blessing, to linger where everything is dazzling and clear. We could build walls around this blessing, put a roof over it. We could bring in a table, chairs, have the most amazing meals. We could make a home. We could stay.

But this blessing is built for leaving. This blessing is made for coming down the mountain. This blessing wants to be in motion, to travel with us as we return to level ground. It will seem strange how quiet this blessing becomes when it returns to earth.

It is not shy. It is not afraid. It simply knows how to bide its time, to watch and wait, to discern and pray until the moment comes when it will reveal everything it knows, when it will shine forth with all it has seen, when it will dazzle with the unforgettable light we have carried all this way.

. Behold, Behold More Voices # 115 (please remain seated) Behold, behold I make all things new, beginning with you and starting from today. Behold, behold I make all things new, my promise is true, for I am Christ the way. (repeat) * Words and music: John L. 39 Sacrament of Holy Communion

Invitation As we come to this table, we are reminded that this is the table of Jesus Christ, a banquet prepared for everyone. All who seek to be nourished and sustained in the journey of faith, all who seek wholeness and compassionate paths to peace and justice, are welcome here.

Prayer of Thanksgiving God be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift our hearts in prayer. Let us give thanks to God. It is good to give God thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, God of hope, Giver of all life, Source of love that knows no boundaries. At your word creation dawns. Under your rainbow the floods recede. With a burning bush you hallow the earth. By a pillar of fire you guide your people. We praise you that you do not abandon us. Into all the shadowed corners of our world you shine the light of hope.

You send Jesus to show us the way of your mercy and love. He brings sight to the blind and healing to the sick, hope to the despairing and justice to the oppressed. Though, in our ignorance and fear, we reject, betray and crucify him, You, O God, raise him from the grave, transforming death into life, despair into hope, fear into love.

Therefore we join with all creation to praise your name: Holy, holy, holy God, power of life and love, all creation sings your glory. Blessed is the one who comes in your name. Hosanna in the highest!

Remembering Jesus at Table At this time, we remember Jesus, who on the night before he died, took a loaf of bread, blessed it, broke it, and said, Take, eat; whenever you do this, remember me.

Likewise, after supper, he took the cup, gave you thanks, and said, This is the cup of the new covenant; when you drink from it, remember me.

Prayer for the Spirit Gracious God, Source of love, we pray for your Spirit. Make us, while many, one. Make us, though broken, whole. Make us, despite death, alive. And so we pray: Come, Holy Spirit, come.

Prayers of the People & Lord s Prayer At this time, we also remember all those with whom you would have us share your feast: We pray for all who are in sorrow or pain, and those who are ill or alone On this day of prayer for intersex people, we offer our heartfelt prayers for our intersex relatives around the world.

We pray for all who live with fear, oppression or hunger; and for all who work to relieve suffering and injustice. We pray for your church as we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus. We pray for our leaders, and the leaders of all nations that they may strive for peace and justice.

Bless the earth, and the fragile web of life we share. And bless our families and friends, our neighbours and our enemies.

Gathering all these prayers into one, we say together: Our Mother and Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us, this day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Sharing the Bread and Cup Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. Jesus Christ, the True Vine. Let us eat and drink together for our strengthening in the faith, and for the sake of the world. [All are welcome to share in the feast of communion.]

Sharing the Elements

Prayer After Communion

Life-giving God, may we who share Christ s body, live his risen life; we, who drink his cup, bring new life to others; we, whom the Spirit ignites, kindle love in the world. Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us, so that we and all your children shall be free, and all creation will live to praise your name. Amen.
