1 Life Groups Winter 2014 About Life Groups at Faith Assembly of Lacey What is a Life Group? Groups are five to 25+ people who meet each week either on the church campus or elsewhere. They are made up of people like you who want to grow spiritually and connect with others who are heading in the same direction. Life groups are a great way to grow deeper in your faith with people you enjoy being around. How do I find the right group for me? All groups are listed on the following pages with groups for, Men, and. When do Life Groups start? Groups begin the week of January 20th and meet for approximately 10 weeks. If a group is ongoing it will meet until June. How do I sign up? You can sign up one of two ways: 1. Online at under Life Groups. 2. In the foyer during one of the first three weekends in January. 2 Freedom Session Leaders: Kelly & Patti Krank Sunday, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm Location: FAL Campus Duration: September June Group Type: Care Group Description: An effective, Christ-centered healing ministry that will lead you on a journey towards the freedom and healing you've always hoped for. People have been set free from chemical and sexual addiction, sexual and physical abuse victimization, codependency issues, perfectionism, the scars of divorce, betrayal, abortion trauma, homosexuality, anger issues, gambling, eating disorders, frozen emotions and just plain old hurts. Guitar 101 Start Date: 1/23/14 Leader: Alex Guernsey Thursdays, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Location: FAL Campus, Room 101 Duration: January - March Description: If learning to play guitar has been on your bucket list, this group is for you. Learn beginning guitar, chords, basic music theory, how to use a capo. For ages 14 and up. Bring your guitar and tuner with you. Using the book "Unmerited Favor" by Joseph Prince. Chess Club Leader: Art Hernandez Tuesday, 6:30 pm Location: FAL Campus, Coffee Shop Description: The game of chess originated in Afghanistan sometime before 600 A.D. Come for an evening of fellowship and playing chess with those who love the game. If you have a chess set, bring it. Building on the Rock Leaders: Jim & Lenore Vining Start Date: 1/22/14 Duration: Till June Description: Commands of Jesus Christ beginning with a study on Matthew 5-7 Sermon on the Mount. Jesus instruction concerning kingdom living, family, personal faith and peace of mind are both fundamental and essential. Coincides with Faith Kids Ministries.

3 Young Marrieds Leaders: Peter & Stacy Degon Start Date: 9/25/13 Description: We are a group of couples in our 20s & 30s who love to laugh and support one another as we follow Jesus. Family is important and we invest in each other s kids. Coincides with Faith Kids Ministries. Topics presented in 2 Thessalonians will be cross referenced using other books of the Bible. Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage Leaders: Ron & Kathy Wright Start Date: 1/22/14 Duration: 8 Weeks Description: This is a great opportunity to have fun and give your marriage a little tune up at the same time! Wild Goose Chase shows us how to pursue God s Holy Spirit and break out of the cages of responsibility, assumptions, guilt, failure and fear. Going through the book 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe by Larry Osborne. Buy it online or at a bookstore. Understanding the Times Leader: Rick Forcier Sunday, 11:00 am Description: Understanding the Times is an adult study that considers current trends, events, signs and wonders, as instructed by Jesus in Matthew 24 and 25. We call it a Bible study in REAL TIME. The Truth Project Leaders: Clinton & Cindy Stephens Sunday, 9:00 am - 10:30 am Location: FAL Campus, Lower Annex Start Date: 1/26/14 Description: The Truth Project is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. This is a very well done DVD-based study with 12 one hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. Purchase the book, read a chapter each week and join other ladies in a Bible study revealing God s compassion, unconditional love and mercy. Group led by women who enjoy mentoring others. We will be studying Philippians. S.O.A.P. Start Date: 2/2/14 Leader: Sandra Azevedo Sunday, 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Location: FAL Campus, Room 110 Duration: 9 Weeks Description: This ladies Life Group will study Philemon using the SOAP Method; study, observe, apply, prayer. It is a journal focused process group with daily/weekly reading plan. We will read the Bible together, journal with discussion and end with prayer. Philemon focuses on forgiveness, redemption and self forgiveness-things many of us struggle with. $10 journals will be available to purchase.
