Collect of the Day Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen. First Reading: Isaiah 43:1-7 (At the conclusion of the reading...) Reader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. THE LITURGY OF THE WORD Psalm 29 BCP, p Ascribe to the LORD, you gods, * ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his Name; * worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. 3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; * the LORD is upon the mighty waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is a powerful voice; * the voice of the LORD is a voice of splendor. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedar trees; * the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon; 6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, * and Mount Hermon like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the LORD splits the flames of fire; the voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; * the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 8 The voice of the LORD makes the oak trees writhe * and strips the forests bare.
9 And in the temple of the LORD * all are crying, "Glory!" 10 The LORD sits enthroned above the flood; * the LORD sits enthroned as King forevermore. 11 The LORD shall give strength to his people; * the LORD shall give his people the blessing of peace. Glory to the Father; and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen. Second Reading: Acts 8:14-17 (At the conclusion of the reading ) Reader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Praise, Praise Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son and praise the Spirit, Three in One, O praise Him, O praise Him alleluia, alleluia, alleluia Gospel: Luke 3:15-17, (Before the reading ) Gospeler: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Luke. People: Glory to you, LORD Christ. (At the conclusion of the reading ) Gospeler: The Gospel of the LORD. People: Praise to you, LORD Christ. Children s Church Passage of the Week Holy Baptism Sermon (Silence to hear God speak.) Rev. Chris Bollegar The Nicene Creed (Please stand and profess together.) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of the People BCP, p. 387 (The Leader and People pray responsively.)
Father, we pray for your holy Catholic Church; That we all may be one. Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve you; That your Name may be glorified by all people. We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons; That they may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments. We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world; That there may be justice and peace on the earth. Give us grace to do your will in all that we undertake; That our works may find favor in your sight. Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble; That they may be delivered from their distress. Give to the departed eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy; May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom. (The Celebrant adds a concluding Collect.) The Confession BCP, p. 360 Celebrant: Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor. (Moment of Silence) Celebrant and People: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. Assurance of Pardon Celebrant: People: Almighty God, have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. Amen. The Peace Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And also with you. (The ministers and the people greet one another in the name of the Lord.) Offering (We sing and worship God as we offer all we have and all we are to Him, symbolized by the giving of monetary gifts from our own resources for the spread of God s Kingdom through Holy Trinity, Broomfield.) Offertory Fall Afresh (Jeremy Riddle) Awaken my soul come awake, to hunger to seek to thirst Awaken first love come awake, and do as You did at first Awaken my soul come awake To worship with all your strength Chorus Spirit of the living God come fall afresh on me
Come wake me from my sleep Blow through the caverns of my soul Pour in me to overflow, to overflow Bridge Come and fill this place Let Your glory now invade THE HOLY COMMUNION The Great Thanksgiving (Eucharistic Prayer A) BCP, p. 361 Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them to the LORD. Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the LORD our God. People: It is right to give him thanks and praise. Celebrant: It is right, and a good and a joyful think, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with the Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name. Sanctus (John Brooks) Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might Heaven and earth are full of your glory Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest Blessed, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord Hosanna in the highest Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest Celebrant: Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world. On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith. Celebrant and People: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Celebrant: We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.
People: All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. AMEN. And now let us pray with confidence as our Savior Christ has taught us, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread BCP, p. 364 Celebrant: Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. People: Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia. Celebrant: The gifts of God for the people of God. All who are baptized and who love and follow Jesus are welcome to receive Communion. Those not wishing to receive may cross their arms across their chest and receive a prayer for God s blessing. During Communion time prayer teams will be available in the back of the room. They will gladly pray with you individually for specific petitions or concerns after you have received the sacrament. And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen. Commissioning Prayer (Lay Eucharistic Ministry) Celebrant and People: In the Name of God our Father and of His Son Jesus Christ, and on behalf of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, we send you forth bearing these holy gifts, that those to whom you go may share with us in the communion of Christ's body and blood.
