2 Welcome to Building Believers Worship Center Bishop Devonry Harvey, First Lady Pastor Beverley Harvey, the Ministerial Staff, Department Leaders, and members of BBWC welcome you to our membership. Our hope is that you will grow in the Lord and in fellowship with the BBWC family as you fulfill your purpose in the Kingdom of God. As you learn more about the church, please be praying about how you can become more connected here. The salvation that is ours in Christ introduces the Christian to an interpersonal reality, the church. In the New Testament, to be a Christian is to belong to the people of God. In Scripture, there is no such thing as an independent or unaffiliated Christian. We see church membership as an organizational expression of a Biblical truth: in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others (Romans 12:5). Based upon the description of the early church in Acts 2:42 47, we see church membership at BBWC encompassing at least four interconnected commitments: We hold to a common confession in Jesus Christ Jesus is our Lord and head of the Church. We learn about and proclaim our faith in Sunday worship services and in Biblical Impartation (Wednesday evenings). We participate in community life. We live out a calling to serve the Lord in the church and in the world God has given us the privilege to be involved in His activity, through various church committees and teams, including the Missions Program, extended Ministries in Jamaica. The church is more than shared values and resources; it is the living body of Christ, and you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5). The church is a place for giving as well as receiving. Each person in the church is important. We thank you for the gift of your life and your ministry among us. To God be the glory. Welcome to BBWC. 3 Jesus instituted the Lord s Supper during the Feast of the Unleavened Bread on the day the Passover Lamb was to be sacrificed (Matthew 26:17 30; Exodus 12:14 20), signifying that he himself would be the true Passover lamb: as the Passover celebration was to remind Israelites of their redemption from Egypt, so the Lord s supper is to remind us of our redemption from death and forgiveness of sin (1 Corinthians 11:23 26). This covenant meal is our regular renewal of faith, or our regular recommitment to the Lord, which is why we examine our hearts before partaking of it. Regarding the renewal of our covenant relationship with each other, sharing together in the Lord s Supper signifies the commitment we have to one another in the body of Christ. Growth and development in God is necessary for each believer and we encourage members to grow in the knowledge of God by reading and applying God s Word and through prayer and devotion. Getting involved in the Ministry is also important to consistent growth in God. In this package is a form which lists the various departments at BBWC. Please prayerfully take the time to select a department (up to three) that you would be interested in working with and return the form to Pastor Beverley. Declaration of Faith We believe: 1. The Bible to be the inspired and only infallible Word of God 2. In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. 3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as Intercessor. 4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. 5. That justification, regeneration and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. 6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word and by the Holy Ghost. 7. Holiness to be God s standard of living for His people. 8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart. 9. In speaking with other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. 10. In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. 11. Divine healing is provided for all in the Atonement. 12. In the Lord s Supper and washing of the saint s feet. 13. In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years. 14. In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked. Page 9 Page 2

4 Mission Statement Building Believers Worship Center (BBWC) is committed to Building the lives of believers, through preaching and teaching the Word of God. By God s power we will seek to offer healing and deliverance to the people of God. We are committed to nurturing the Body of Christ so that each person will recognize and grow to their God given potential as they move toward their destiny. We are committed to providing ministries which will edify and enhance the believers walk with God Spiritually, socially, intellectually and relationally through the help of the Holy Spirit. We endeavor to embrace all people regardless of race, status or creed; therefore, we re bringing them in, growing them up and sending them out. The Holy Spirit is also the primary mover in works to bring about unity in the Church among the individual pillars of the temple through the manifestation of fruit and gifts. The fruit of the Spirit Since all Christians have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them (Romans 8:9 10), all Christians will inevitably bear his fruit. Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit in the context of the freedom we have in Christ, freedom that is meant for serving one another in love. We are able to operate at our fullest potential, manifesting the talents given to us by God because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. As a member of BBWC we encourage members to be sincere in their commitment of their TREASURE. One way you may give of your resources is through financial gifts. As is the case with all churches, BBWC depends upon the faithful giving of the people of God to sustain the work to which we believe Christ has called us. Tithing was established by God to help his people acknowledge his ownership and provision of everything they had (1 Chronicles 29:14; Malachi 3:6 12). A tithe was 10% of a person s yearly increase and was set aside as an offering holy to the Lord. In the New Testament tithing is affirmed by Jesus (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42). Each member of the Church is required to tithe 1/10 of their income into the Church and also to support the Church with free will offerings and seed offerings as the Lord has blessed them. At BBWC, the primary qualification for membership is a personal saving faith in Jesus Christ. While none of us can fully examine another to know the deepest thoughts of the mind and soul, still there is evidence in word and deed of a life that has been submitted to Jesus. Living a transformed life by the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to be an example to others. Page 3 Through Worship services, various programs and using time sensitive methods we seek to lead men and women to Jesus. We believe the Word of God is to be preached, believed, and applied. We fully embrace The Lord s Supper on the first Sunday of each month as an act of worship and a ceremonial meal in which we remember and renew our covenant relationship with God (vertical aspect) and with our brothers and sisters in Christ (horizontal aspect). 5 Church History CHURCH MEMBERSHIP The model we use for Church Membership is the Three T s of Membership: TIME TALENT TREASURE Membership in a local Church involves commitment to worship the Lord corporately, edifying brothers and sisters through mutual exhortation and service, cooperating in mission, and holding each other accountable to walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord as a witness to the truth of Christ in the world. As a member of BBWC we encourage members to be sincere in the commitment of their TIME. Not only weekly meetings but from time to time other activities will be hosted by the Church. Members are strongly encouraged and expected to give of their time to ensure the success of the programs of the Church. We know your time is valuable and appreciate the sacrifices which will need to be made at times. A commitment of time also includes time spent with God. Personal Devotion is the private expression of worship through devotion and includes scripture reading/meditation/memory, journaling, spiritual disciplines, prayer, singing praise songs/hymns, etc. Personal devotion is essential for spiritual health and is necessary for equipping the Body of Christ in interpreting, appropriating and apply the Word of God, loving God and loving one another (Psalm 1:2, 1 Timothy 4:6 8, Hebrews 5:11 14). (4) As a member of BBWC we encourage members to be sincere in the commitment of their TALENT. Just as the physical body has different parts which have different functions, so the Church has many members and each member has a different gift or talent. We encourage members to use their talents to the glory of God and the building up of the Kingdom of God to the best of their ability through the power of the Holy Spirit. Page 7 Building Believers Worship Center (BBWC) was officially organized March, Bishop Devonry and Pastor Beverley Harvey along with their two children, Calvin and Jasmine and brother, Garfield Harvey were founding members. The Lord had certainly placed a burden for the harvest on Bishop Devonry and Pastor Beverley Harvey s heart. Just as important as that burden, was the direction that God would have them go. One month prior to the establishment of the Church, Bishop Devonry and Pastor Beverley Harvey spent that time in prayer and fasting seeking God s direction. The month spent in fasting and prayer was the foundation for moving into the harvest. Building Believers Worship Center is located in the city of North Lauderdale, Florida. Since the establishment of BBWC, the membership has grown from a family to an average attendance of 110 or more per week. The Church continues to experience the outpouring of God s Spirit in abundance. We celebrate the fact that over the past year we have conducted numerous baptisms and the Lord continues to add to our church daily. Various ministries are in operation - Men s, Women s, Young Women s (BLC), Children s Church, Mission, Ushers, Music, (which includes Praise & Worship, Choirs, Dance, Mime Ministries), Events and Planning, BBSM - the Building Believers School of Ministry and most recently the launch of MMWGW (Marriage Club Making Marriages Work God s Way. An Executive Board has been established at BBWC to direct the general functions of the Church. BBWC is currently registered in the State of Florida and with the IRs, and has obtained a 501(c)(3). In 2015, we joined in fellowship with Ecclesia Worship Center, Mandeville Jamaica, under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd Allen and we currently serve as overseers of this Ministry. In 2016, we joined in fellowship with Ecclesia Worship Center in Christ, South Manchester, Jamaica, under the leadership of Pastor Steve Edwards and we currently serve as overseers of this Ministry. We now fellowship with two sister Churches in Jamaica and both Churches are making an impact in the kingdom as they serve their communities in Jamaica. BBWC continues to experience spiritual and numerical growth under the diligent leadership of Bishop Devonry Harvey as the Holy Spirit directs. The Church is building a mighty army to go out and do whatever it takes to reach the harvest with the truth of God s word. The Divine mandate that God has given this ministry has never been clearer or more urgent. BBWC plays a key role in the end time revival that will usher in the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our focus is to build Believers, empowering them to become disciples and make disciples. Therefore, we are bringing them in, we are growing them up and we are sending them out. We have come this far by faith leaning on the Lord trusting in his Holy Word, He s never failed us. The Church is moving from victory to victory Focused, Determined and United, Transforming Lives One Person at a Time and therefore, we give all praise to God! Page 4

6 Biography of Bishop Devonry Harvey Rev. Dr. Devonry Harvey was born in 1966 on the Island of Jamaica. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at age nine. At age twelve, he began preaching the gospel on the streets and public transportations in Kingston Jamaica. At age thirteen in his home church, he served as youth Pastor, Sunday School Teacher and assisted his Pastor in establishing a Church. At age fifteen, he was ordained an Evangelist and served in that capacity for three years preaching across Jamaica. In August 1984, Dr. Harvey migrated to Boston, Massachusetts and continued evangelizing through his organization in the state of Florida and New Jersey for one year. In 1985, he became a member of the Church of God out of Cleveland Tennessee where he served as District Youth Pastor. In addition, he was asked to minister in various Churches in the city of Boston. Dr. Harvey is married to the lovely Beverley Harvey and is the proud father of two lovely children, Calvin and Jasmine and the sweetest granddaughter ever Christina-Marie In 1989 at age twenty three, he felt the call of God to enter the Pastoral Ministry and founded the New Vision Church Organization with a total of four churches in Boston and Jamaica. In 1990 at age twenty-four, he was ordained a Pastor and in 1998 at age thirty two, he was ordained a Bishop. Dr. Harvey served as Pastor and Bishop of the New Vision Church Organization for seventeen years. Throughout those years of ministry, he has appointed and ordained one Bishop, Ministers, Evangelists, Deacons, Deaconesses and Missionaries to carry out the vision of the organization. Biography of Pastor Beverley Harvey Born in the United Kingdom, (Newport Wales), to Bishop and Mrs. Ransford Smith, Pastor Beverley Harvey is the fourth of five children. Beverley accepted the Lord at the age of 7 to the call of God to accept Him as her personal Savior. Pastor Beverley is married to Bishop Dr. Devonry Harvey and has two children Calvin and Jasmine and the proud nana of one - Christina-Marie. Pastor Beverley Harvey currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Building Believers Worship Center; she is the First Lady and leads the Women s Department. Pastor Beverley both preaches and teaches the Word of God nationally and internationally. In 2013 Pastor Beverley launched the L.I.F.T. (Ladies In Fellowship Together) Retreat and event that has been steadily growing, ministering to the needs of various women and grow stronger numerically and spiritually each year. Beverley attended Overstone Theological College, where she earned a DipTh (Diploma in Theology). She went on to study at Westminster College, Oxford and earned her BTh. (Bachelor Theology), following which, she earned a BDiv. (Bachelor Divinity) at the European Theological College. Dr. Harvey currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Building Believers Worship Center, located in North Lauderdale, Florida. This ministry started in March, Dr. Harvey has a Master s Degree in Theology and received a Doctorate Degree of Divinity from Crossroads Theological Seminary in July This faithful man of God has impacted many, many lives and continues to do so wherever he ministers the Word of God. He is a man available to be used of God and is zealous to the awesome task of Advancing the Kingdom of God. He preaches the Gospel uncompromisingly with clarity, encouraging members of the Body of Christ to know the Lord personally and endeavor to fulfill their God given destiny. Page 5 Page 6
